PURE Thai Cookhouse is a genuine Thai shophouse-style restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen that features homemade noodles from a prized family recipe. We arrived for a birthday celebration and were happy to finally visit here in person since we had always just ordered up The hostess who greeted us at the door was rude. Then she tried to seat at a table in the hallway in the dark and next to a bathroom. We declined, so she grouchily moved us to the front. While the front had more light we were sandwiches between two other tables so tightly that someone always had to move a table for anyone to get out. The Pad Thai was bitter and inedible. No one noticed that it wasn't eaten. while it was written in the notes that it was a birthday celebration, we were treated rudely. The wait staff in the front where we were sat were charming and friendly, it did not make up for the very rude hostess, nor the inedible sour food. We will not be coming back .

Space was a bit tight in the extension. We were 2 seated next to a loud party of 6 - but service and food was tremendous

Food was delicious! However, i noticed something strange about our server. She was a short woman with her hair loosely toed back, likely Thai or Chinese. She greeted Western customers with a warm smile that lit up her face, but when it came to Asian customers, her expression was cold and she didn’t smile or make eye contact at all. Is this what they call ‘selective friendliness’? Is it a stereotype that Asian customers leave smaller tips? Given her attitude, i certainly couldnt justify leaving a tip over 20%!
