Punk's Simple Southern Food
We took our grandchildren here for a special treat after playing at a park and they were HUNGRY... they are preschoolers so not super patient. We chose to sit outside, and our server was great. The little ones had placemats and markers to entertain themselves with and the kids menu had actual fruits and vegetables! Our grown up food.... the cheeseburger for my husband and the black bean burger for me were also great. Playing in the courtyard when we were finished was better than dessert!
The food was simple and amazing. The staff was wonderful. The venue was quaint.
I enjoyed the experience ; however, the food was not as good as I remembered.
After having the best, juiciest, fried chicken in Houston for years, something has changed terribly. Our whole bird came out, dry, 3 of the pieces completely void of any crust at all. It was terrible. The drinks were way too sweet. The only good think I can say is they had Nickel and Nickel chardonnay for a very reasonable price. We will not go back.
I wish they had celebrated the birthday we were having. I let them know on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, they mentioned it when we got there, then nothing. That was disappointing but everything else was excellent.
The service is incredibly quick. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable.
Food was good except for the seafood platter the fish tasted old and didn’t have much flavor. Service was ok I had to track the server down to get what I needed more than once. The chicken and waffles were delicious tender pieces of chicken with good flavor. The pecan chicken was also a winner! Nice atmosphere.
First time visiting.. I will defiantly visit again...
Everything was awesome! We enjoyed the food, drinks, atmosphere, and service!
Great experience. Service was slightly lacking - forgot my order, didn’t check on my group often. Other than that I really like punks.
First time we picked this spot for a sunday brunch. Everything was amazing, from the moment we stepped in to the second we walked out. Food was absolutely amazing and service even better. The space is extremely cozy and it feels like you’re having brunch at grandmas kitchen on an spring day. Absolutely fabulous. Can I mention again how amazing our server was ? I can’t remember her name but I’m sure that whole crew is great! This will for sure become my go to whenever I’m in Houston.
Girls day Brunch!!! Excellent food and great service!!!
Great tasty food
Great food and awesome customer service. Our waitress, Devin is the BEST!
I really love Punks or say loved. Since last time we went, the menu has changed. They used to serve their friend chicken with mashed potatoes. Now it just comes with a biscuit and pickle. Also, they removed the buffalo chicken sandwich from the menu so you can't have the buffalo sauce anymore to accompany your friend chicken. That and the chicken were awesome together. The El Pelpino is also super. The mac n cheese and fried chicken is to die for but wasn't happy with the menu changes.
Chicken fried steak was very good but signature fried chicken was a disappointment. Service was attentive and drink selection was fine. On a chilly night the cold drafts caused by the constant in an out to the terrace will be a problem for many people.
Early Valentine's date, great food and service, highly recommend!
DON'T CHANGE A THING! The menu selections are spot on and the true Southern recipes are amazing!
The food was very good, the service was absolutely excellent.
Family dinner to celebrate birthdays, we normally select a more formal restaurant but my mom requested a family friendly option this year to make sure it was a good dining experience for the kids as well. We were seated at a table near the hostess stand and on this particular evening there was a temperature drop with very strong wind gust. Which meant every time the front door to the restaurant opened a gust of cold air would blow in. I put my coat back on and tried to ignore it for the sake of dinner but it was hard as I was freezing. I asked the waitress if there were any tables away from the front door available and she stated there were none. I switched seats to be on the opposite end of the table and settled in to reviewing the menu options. I suspect our waitress told a staff member about my request to move and the workers suggested we move to a corner table (still near the front) on the opposite side of where we were seated thinking there would be less cold air blowing in that direction. We were hesitant to move but the staff was working quickly to set up a new table so we gathered our belongings and three quiet children to move to a new table. The new location was actually worse than the first even my dad who never complains commented on how chilly the air was every time the door opened, it was pretty miserable. All of us just wanted to move forward with our dining experience and decided we would stick it out. The owner came by and loudly discussed in a discombobulated manner the design of the restaurant and how he was going to purchase a large vestibule to solve the problem of the cold air entering the front door. I think this was his way of expressing his apology but I’m not sure...maybe it was just his personality but he seemed possibly intoxicated. Thankfully most of the food was very good or the evening would have been a bust. Since it doesn’t get cold in Houston often, I’m going to assume this was just an off night and maybe try again when it’s warm
Great place for families with kids. The menu and play area are first rate.
Great service, very nice wait staff and delicious food. Very kid friendly.
Our meal was good, but not the exceptional meal I was anticipating given the professional reviews I have read.
Enjoyed sitting outside while the kids ran around and played. Food was good as was service. Thanks “O”.
Went to Punks for lunch with friends today and as usual (this was my fourth or fifth visit) it was delicious. Had the shrimp & grits and it was very tasty - a gluten-free Creole type sauce made them unique and very flavorful. Others at the table had the fried chicken, chicken-fried steak, pecan-crusted chicken and salmon salad and everyone raved about how good theirs was. Service was a little slow because our server was training a new employee, but overall We had a great experience. We will definitely be back.
Great place to ho with kids for brunch or breakfast - lots of space for kids to run around and good food!
Great atmosphere and the staff is very nice. This was our first time and we sat on the patio. Yes, we will be back. The Waffles and Chicken worth it all!
I was highly underwhelmed (which is sad because I had heard such great things) with my dining experience. Service was inconsistent, the food was disappointing (a neighboring table even sent something back) and parking was a headache. Maybe it is because I visited during lunch? Either way, it was a forgettable dining experience.
Wonderful service and food. The owner came by the table to personally welcome and thank us for coming. Great selection of whiskey's at the bar that you can get in a flight for a great value. Fun, comfortable atmosphere. Everyone at our table ordered something different, and it was all excellent.
Great restaurant to bring kids, great for groups. Good food, although quality seems to be slipping a little. Great patio, so nice for a few drinks with friends or coworkers in the afternoon / happy hour.
The place is cute , but the food is just alright. Nothing too special about it. The frozen sangria was awesome! The best part of the meal were the loaded deviled eggs , regular served and then another deep fried set. The waiter we had was really nice too.
Punk’s never fails to have fabulous service, fabulous vibe, fabulous food and fabulous bar service! Absolutely love going there and would recommend it to anyone looking for good times!
It was so great! The food was delicious. Both of us got the salmon salad and it was perfect. I was really hungry though, and it was small to medium sized so I should have ordered an appetizer. Their cocktails were SUPER cute
Fabulous buttermilk fried chicken, hush puppies and a nice by-the-glass wine selection.
All was great except there were youths panhandling for money, and neither the wait staff nor management did anything to stop it.
The food was really good. The fried chicken seems to be the favorite.
My visit to Punks was amazing. I went for Brunch on my Birthday along with a few friends and family members. The entire staff from the food runners, servers and hostess were all amazing, friendly and very accommodating. They all displayed a very laid back , helpful and friendly demeanor. Which helped to create a stress free , fun and memorable Birthday Brunch. I thoroughly enjoyed my self ,as did my friends and family. I look forward to coming back for lunch and dinner. Also , everyone in my party that ordered and entree that had the delicious and succulent friend chicken , loved it! I also would like to thank the awesome staff for my beautiful birthday dessert , that was served with a sparkler candle. Such a cute detail! Thank you to all of the staff that helped make my Birthday Brunch super special!
The waitress was patient. Was quick to refill coffee and water. And the food came out in less than a minute after we ordered.
Good recommendation on the deviled eggs fully loaded and fried.
Everything and everyone was simply outstanding. The General Manager is awesome !
Very nice on a cool evening. Food was good and the kids played while my wife and I relaxed.
