Always a superb meal - wonderful flavors and a menu that is always changing, thoughtful and capable wait staff and a charming, intimate space, all as a BYOB. A real standout year after year.
Always a favorite meal in Philadelphia; never disappoints !
Amazing dining experience. Girlfriend and I booked a table during Valentine’s Day. We found the food quality superb and the menu items delicious.
We've been coming to Pumpkin since the git-go, and it has never, ever, ever disappointed. This time around, we were introducing a highly food-savvy friend to Chef Ian's genius, and we were a little concerned that showing up on Valentine's Day might not be the best way to showcase this place we love. Pish Tosh. Everything was delicious and wonderfully prepared, from the satiny pumpkin soup through the 5-course menu, ending up with three amazing desserts, including a panna cotta that was the perfect consistency, not too jellied and not too loose. It was a great first time for our pal and a great umpteenth time for us.
Food is exceptional and service was outstanding. I can't wait to go back!
Food is always savory and wonderful. Gets pretty loud for a small place. Service is tip top.
Pumpkin is always a delight and its tasting menu is seasonal and creative. I think I heard the next table asking for their flourless chocolate cake (seems to me like a balancing act between a brownie and a flan) drizzled with chocolate sauce and served with some vanilla ice cream. Yum. I think the chef’s talent always shines in their seasonally appropriate soups...I want every recipe because these soups are just spectacular and simple enough to be recreated if I only were so talented and imaginative. Pumpkin has been on the Philadelphia food scene for about a decade I believe, weathering the constant churn of most restaurants, and understandably so.
We love Pumpkin! The Sunday dinner is our favorite, every course is spot on. Delicious, creative food in a nice comfy little space. We’ll be back
I remember Pumpkin when it first opened. There’s a good reason it’s stuck around this long. Always on my top three BYOB options for the city.
Pumpkin is a neighborhood favorite--relaxed atmosphere, excellent food. Like the way they change up the menu with fresh offerings, well (creatively and lovingly) prepared.
Great food and wonderful service. It had been far too long since we visited this Philly gem. Every bite of our meal was delicious.
Pumpkin always delivers a great dining experience. Presentation of food is beautiful, flavors are exceptional and nicely portioned. Excellent in all respects.
We've been coming to Pumpkin for many years and it remains one of our favorites. This was our first time at the Sunday Supper prix fixe. Each course was as beautiful as it was delicious. For this level of quality at $50, it was really good value as well.
The carrot ginger soup was delicious. The salmon was the best I've had anywhere. We had a great dinner and a great time at Pumpkin!
Food wasn’t special
I haven't been to this neighborhood restaurant in years. Restaurant week provided an opportunity for another visit. It is definitely on my list to go back with friends. Every dish was wonderful and flavorful. The waitstaff did an amazing job working in such a small space.
The food was extraordinary!!! The service was really good, they were mostly invisible (in very tight quarters) unless you needed them (which they knew when you did).
I love the ‘boutique’ atmosphere even though it is ‘very’ close quarters. (Not for claustrophobic people)
The only cringe was a $4.00 charge for bread. Not sure if it was because we had two extra pieces or not.
Definitely recommend and will return.
Love the BYOB. Food well thought out and creative.
Prix fix 3 course meal was great and wonderful, friendly service.
Pumpkin is not to be missed and its Restaurant Week menu was spectacular. It is a gem that Hilary and Ian keep vibrant and fresh even though it has been around for many, many years. Their staff deserves mention as well as they are very helpful and knowledgeable. Pumpkin fires on all cylinders all year long.
Service was excellent without being overbearing. Food is outstanding
Very good but small portions
This was Restaurant Week so we took a chance in securing a table. The overall experience was superb, and the food and service were on point. Although there was a short wait, we were offered complimentary champagne since it was our anniversary, which was a nice gesture. We haven't been here in awhile, but we'll come back again soon.
Enjoyed the meal a great deal. I found the desserts to be not as great as in past meals, but that is not why I come to Pumpkin anyway. Everyone is so nice and I like the low-key space. Love that it seems that the staff is all women.
Went for restaurant week. Food was great, love that it’s a BYO. We will be back.
went for restaurant week. delicious fresh food in a quiet romantic atmosphere. staff was friendly and helpful. small intimate setting
This is my first trip to Pumpkin.
Your creativity, which we enjoyed in your exceptional cooking, will bring us back many again.
It was perfect!
Everything was excellent. I had the duck entrée and appetizer, which were outstanding.
Everything was delicious, everyone was both friendly and highly competent, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. It could have been quieter, but for a Philly restaurant, it wasn’t bad. I already look forward to returning.
Everything was great. From the food to the service to the Ambiance. Top notch!
My wife and I had dinner at Pumpkin BYOB on NYE. It is a small, very intimate setting where the noise level is mostly attributed to conversing rather than loud music (which I personally prefer). The food was amazing and the kitchen easily accommodated my gluten allergy. The owner came by to wish everybody a Happy New Year and cheers'ed everybody in the restaurant. Overall, a great experience.
Great, always enjoy our meals
Dinning out New Years Eve can be mediocre at best. We were so pleased with our dinner at Pumpkin. The table for four was was ready within minutes of our arrival. We were a party of four and we felt very comfortable and we could hear each other perfectly. The five course menu was superb with 2 choices for each course and specialties for seafood, beef or Veggie lovers. The service
was friendly, efficient and unhurried.o Our guests loved the dinner and we couldn’t have been more pleased. It was as if if wasn’t NYE.
Had a great time at Pumpkin! The team read my notes about a food allergy I have and were accommodating to my needs. They also brought out a candle on the dessert since I said that I was celebrating my birthday!
The food was fantastic. Everything was cooked PERFECTLY and the flavors were delicious. We went for the Sunday tasting menu, and were not disappointed.
Very intimate (<10 tables) restaurant with amazing food. Constantly changing menu that adapts to what's in season.
They asked what the special occasion was ( it was a birthday) when they first seated us, then forgot to mention when it was dessert time, when my friend asked for a cake they aggressively stole the check back to add a 10 dollar cake to the bill, overall was distasteful. Service was lackluster and sloppy. Food was solid B. Very disappointed.
I had not been to Pumpkin in some time, but it was as I remembered - cozy, excellent and attentive wait staff and wonderful food. And as a BYOB, great value. Highly recommend it.
Have been there twice and both times had outstanding food in an intimate setting. Can't wait to go back!
Pumpkin is one of our favorites in Philadelphia and it never disappoints. It’s small and intimate and the food and service is consistently excellent.
However, this was the first time we have seen them seat a larger party (8 or 9) in this very small restaurant and we found the noise level from that table to be overpowering. It was hard for the 4 of us to carry on a conversation without shouting. They might want to re-think that policy.
