Enjoyed the meal a great deal. I found the desserts to be not as great as in past meals, but that is not why I come to Pumpkin anyway. Everyone is so nice and I like the low-key space. Love that it seems that the staff is all women.
Went for restaurant week. Food was great, love that it’s a BYO. We will be back.
went for restaurant week. delicious fresh food in a quiet romantic atmosphere. staff was friendly and helpful. small intimate setting
This is my first trip to Pumpkin.
Your creativity, which we enjoyed in your exceptional cooking, will bring us back many again.
It was perfect!
Everything was excellent. I had the duck entrée and appetizer, which were outstanding.
Everything was delicious, everyone was both friendly and highly competent, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. It could have been quieter, but for a Philly restaurant, it wasn’t bad. I already look forward to returning.
Everything was great. From the food to the service to the Ambiance. Top notch!
My wife and I had dinner at Pumpkin BYOB on NYE. It is a small, very intimate setting where the noise level is mostly attributed to conversing rather than loud music (which I personally prefer). The food was amazing and the kitchen easily accommodated my gluten allergy. The owner came by to wish everybody a Happy New Year and cheers'ed everybody in the restaurant. Overall, a great experience.
Great, always enjoy our meals
Dinning out New Years Eve can be mediocre at best. We were so pleased with our dinner at Pumpkin. The table for four was was ready within minutes of our arrival. We were a party of four and we felt very comfortable and we could hear each other perfectly. The five course menu was superb with 2 choices for each course and specialties for seafood, beef or Veggie lovers. The service
was friendly, efficient and unhurried.o Our guests loved the dinner and we couldn’t have been more pleased. It was as if if wasn’t NYE.
Had a great time at Pumpkin! The team read my notes about a food allergy I have and were accommodating to my needs. They also brought out a candle on the dessert since I said that I was celebrating my birthday!
The food was fantastic. Everything was cooked PERFECTLY and the flavors were delicious. We went for the Sunday tasting menu, and were not disappointed.
Very intimate (<10 tables) restaurant with amazing food. Constantly changing menu that adapts to what's in season.
They asked what the special occasion was ( it was a birthday) when they first seated us, then forgot to mention when it was dessert time, when my friend asked for a cake they aggressively stole the check back to add a 10 dollar cake to the bill, overall was distasteful. Service was lackluster and sloppy. Food was solid B. Very disappointed.
I had not been to Pumpkin in some time, but it was as I remembered - cozy, excellent and attentive wait staff and wonderful food. And as a BYOB, great value. Highly recommend it.
Have been there twice and both times had outstanding food in an intimate setting. Can't wait to go back!
Pumpkin is one of our favorites in Philadelphia and it never disappoints. It’s small and intimate and the food and service is consistently excellent.
However, this was the first time we have seen them seat a larger party (8 or 9) in this very small restaurant and we found the noise level from that table to be overpowering. It was hard for the 4 of us to carry on a conversation without shouting. They might want to re-think that policy.
Good food, limited menu. Short on innovation. Great service. Too many far better BYOBs.
Plating, flavor combinations, temperature, portions are all top-notch. From a food and service perspective this could easily be a favorite in Rittenhouse. The hard part of such a small venue is that even a tiny scheduling glitch from one party sends them sideways. We went for a date night and arrived on time for our 2 person reservation, it took 45 minutes to seat us. We were standing next to a 4 person reservation that waited the same time, all because a single large party stayed for an hour after they had finished eating.
Pumpkin also needs to invest in sound deadening foam for under the table tops; the room is so small and has so many hard surfaces that all it takes is one loud party to turn it into a screaming match. The night we visited a single table of soccer-moms-out-on-the-town insisted on using their Applebee's voices for the first half of our meal, and it was gruelling.
This far exceeded expectations in every way. What an amazing BYOB — a little cozy and small but the plates were beautiful and delicious and made for a very memorable birthday celebration. This would be a fun place to rent out if you had the bucks for a private party! Thanks for a truly special dinner out!
Too noisy, had to raise voices to talk!
Fantastic dishes top to bottom great service
Had an amazing experience. The food is wonderful and the ambiance is terrific.
This was our first time to Pumpkin and we will definitely return. The food was absolutely delicious. The food stood out NOT because of overly elaborate presentation or gimmicky ingredients, but rather because each dish was genuinely delicious. And the service was lovely and the room is charming. One issue is that the food is perhaps a little pricey for regular attendance, but for the occasional special occasion this is a great place.
I wanted to treat my mom to a truly special evening and this was the perfect place. Totally unassuming and unpretentious, the chef’s tasting menu was the best I’ve had in a long while (and I live in NYC!!). My mom is a Philly girl and a true foodie, and we were both wow’d. Absolutely LOVE this BYOB!!
From soup to nuts, this place is amazing. Charming space, professional and friendly servers, and fabulous food. The ceviche, the stuffed chicken, the pork belly... just all so ridiculously delicious. Don’t walk, run to Pumpkin.
We've gone to Pumpkin for years. It's a solid chef restaurant in the Graduate Hospital area. This time I had a delicious butternut squash soup followed by the chicken breast. We shared the snack platter, also tasty, and my wife had the lamb sausage, which wasn't quite as successful. An app and main for each, two desserts, bread ($4) and a bottle of sparkling water, plus tax and tip, came to $140 per couple.
Always consistently delicious. I have never been disappointed with this restaurant. Monkfish with deconstructed clam chowder was perfect.
This “hole in the wall” restaurant - my favorite type - is the best in Philadelphia and has a lot of competition. Heavy hitters like Vernik and Jean George and the gaggle of Garces places don’t come close to the extremely well-crafted dishes and desserts. It is a one-of-a-kind place with flavor and dining memories that will last for a lifetime. Amazing!
Had the crazy good prix fixe (4 scrumptious courses for only $65 per person). Really fresh, creative cuisine and thoughtful team service. One of the best foodie BYOB experiences I’ve had in Philly (or anywhere for that matter).
Food and service were excellent
Meal was excellent, we were not told prior that Sunday would be a 5-course pre-set meal. The meal was fantastic, but would have been nice to know. Amazing food every time we come!
The food is always excellent, and the ambience is perfect for a date.
Great food, very good service, reasonable considering the quality. Tiny space with no place to wait (except outside) which is awkward when you are forced to wait for your reservation when you’re on time.
Great meal before theater, have already recommend to friends
I haven’t been there in years. The place was great and made me feel special. I was celebrating my birthday. N the waitress was great. She put our candles on a slice of bread. N it made me sooooooo happy. I hate candles in my dessert. Thank you.
This meal was OUTSTANDING in almost every eay. Only point of feedback: The scallop dish was a little stinky because of the gasses from the radishes. Can you cut them and let them off gas for a bit? Or maybe not precut them and avoid storing them in a closed container?
The five course Sunday menu is delicious and very reasonable. If the noise level could be controlled, this restaurant would be a true five star establishment.
Best pumpkin soup ever. Nice to be able to talk with my partner.
