Excellent specialty tacos. Drinks and desserts are very pricey
Best Mexican Food I have ever had I have lived in Phoenix for the past 26 years. Better Than any Mexican food in Phoenix. Staff was great and atmosphere was upscale but fun. Plant based menu a big plus in addition to traditional menu.
Wow! Everything done with excellence...each taco beautifully hand-crafted with each ingredient well thought out. If I had room, I would have tried one of each ...but I guess I’ll just have to come back. Chicken al Pastor was my favorite with the filet Mignon and carnitas right behind that. All enjoyed with a delicious MezCal flight.
Great spice in the fresh guacamole.
We had a great time.
Food was really good and staff was super friendly.
I recommend this place.
Very good meal. The filet mignon taco is a must. Other than our guacamole not coming out early, it was a wonderful meal and experience. Will be returning.
Very very tasty tacos... great service and great recommendations. Hit up taco tuesday for a great experience
Little overpriced for what you get. However all was good. I found the Puesto “perfect” margarita overly sweetened. The second one (after asking) had less agave nectar and was better.
We've tried this location and the one downtown. This one is hands down the better of the two, and you can't beat strolling around La Jolla afterward.
Since I arrived in San Diego about 4 years ago I have said the sentence "I had never had tacos this good" many times, but Puesto has been the last one. The tamarindo Shrimp taco just blew a fuse in my brain. It was sweet but savory and the mixture was so good and soft and full of texture. The one with fillet mignon had a chocolate taste although it didn't have any so it was pure magic. Will go again soon!
Phong our server was fantastic!!! Love this place!!
Came here for lunch and enjoyed their restaurant week menu. Super delicious tacos and the best guacamole I have very tasted. Incredibly creamy and a great mix of sweet and spicy. I hope to come back soon.
A little over priced. Lobster taco was great. Not enough flavor with grilled fish taco. Loved the avocado margarita.
Puesto serves a fresher, lighter and updated version of Mexican food. There were plenty of vegetarian choices and they went out of their way to accommodate our daughter who is Vegan. Everything was delicious. The Mexican street bowl and tostaditas were a standout. This is one of our New Mexican favorites now.
Very cute atmosphere and great service, but the food was just okay and not really worth the price.
Excellent food with with a lot of extraordinarily loud noise.
Great food in a wonderful open air environment. Very special dining experience.
Old college friend get together. What made this less than pleasant was that one of the members had red wine, and she tasted the first glass and said wow this is horrible, it is really salty! So they brought back another little carafe and poured into her glass- same thing! By this time all those who were drinking margaritas with all the salt rims realized they were just HAND DUNKING the WINE GLASSES into the same salty water that they were washing all the marg glasses in and / or using the same dishwasher. So all that salt was settled in their wine glasses. They looked fine but it made even the best of wines taste HORRIBLE! And until they wash completely separately- don’t drink wine here!
Food was great - unexpected, interesting, flavorful. We'll definitely go back. All the servers / staff were wonderful, too - friendly and fun without being overbearing. We'll definitely go back!
Food was awesome, as usual. Margaritas are class acts themselves. The guacamole is to die for.
As usual the food was amazing. One drawback...we ordered 9 tacos and about 6 of them were warm, not hot. We mentioned to the waitress who was willing to send them back but we declined. They were still good, they just need to watch for sending out less than hot food.
Love the tacos with tomatillos and melted cheese inside the tortilla! Also tried a delicious corn appetizer!
The tacos were very good, seasoned well in delicious tortillas. The guac w/ Ahi tuna was really goo as were the chips and salsa.
Tacos were great. Margaritas were great. 10/10 would eat here again.
They couldn't accommodate for seven of us so my sister had to sit at the end of the table sideways. After we sat at our table, no one introduced themselves and after 10 minutes finally got someone to notice us and ordered drinks and appetizers. Food took awhile to come but it was delicious. Next time, we'll be going to the one down on West Harbor Drive.
Great place to gather and eat! Food was delicious and drinks were just right. Service was great as well. Def want to come back
This is true gourmet Mexican. My wife and I took relatives from the Midwest to the restaurant and they were quite impressed. Although we all enjoy traditional rice-and-bean Mexican, this was a different dining experience. It is $ but worth every $. Service was friendly and efficient.
Servers hit or miss we had a rude one last two times but same person
Although we Reserved a table we got one next to the door. The ambience was ok but it was very loud. Service wasn’t the best. We ordered a salad with extra chicken and three filet mignon tacos and one beer. In the end we had a 53$ bill which was totally overpriced. The tacos were super small and we couldn’t find any of the meat - for 22$! The salad was pretty okay but there wasn’t any avocado in there as the menu says. In the end we wanted to talk with the manager because of the miss understandable menu card with the tacos. All he did was gave us a new bill and said ,,I want no stress so I’ll do the bill,,. No understanding from his side although he is the manager ! We won’t come again.
Service was excellent as were the chips and salsa. The chicken soup was so terribly salty that after only one bite from 3 people at our table, we sent it back. Even the manager agreed it was oversalted. The guac and carnitas tacos were edible but also veryyyy salty. The acustics are really poor--very loud and patrons need to practically shout to hear each other. We appreciated the Vegan options and the attention to detail as it pertained to a dairy allergy in our group.
Best tacos in San Diego County. Service was a little disorganized but didn’t distract from the experience.
We always like Puesto. The sangria is great and we have been there enough to have favorites on the menu.
Food was OK, not as good as reviews had stated. Guacamole was not great. Seemed just like crushed avocados and not enough lime, salt and cilantro. Tacos were just OK. Price was good on Taco Tuesday.
Very good food which we enjoyed a lot but well over priced!
Excellent, high quality Mexican food. A bit pricey.
Came with a 9 month old and had a great experience. Food was awesome and so was our server!
Made a reservation for 2:30 in afternoon, our table was not ready had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Food was good, service was horrid. At one point all four members had empty glasses and waited and waited. When meals came, 3 of 4 came with a 7 minute for the fourth to come out. Manager came out and said that dish was on them...it was not. Our server was also one of the bar tenders, who was very occupied at the bar. Was hoping for a great meal following Yelp reviews, disappointed.
Good tacos. Good guacamole. Great margaritas. What more do you need?
A little (a lot) noisy for conversation. The restaurant is very small. The open windows (roll-up doors) were open and the weather always perfect in La Jolla. Inside the crowded space was a mix of adults drinking heavily and kids running around bumping into people. Keep your elbows in, almost like an airplane, with people moving quickly between the close tables.
Highly recommend reservations as the wait was well over an hour for small parties walking up for a table. Reservation wait was approximately 20 minutes. Host staff a bit uncoordinated with each other, resulting in hurt feelings and loud exchanges over who’s table was who’s (awkward?)
Food is always delicious, and I love the surprise taco of the month. But our service was inattentive, leading to empty drinks and guacamole without any chips. The crumbled broken ones just don’t dip well.
Watch out for the labor service charge - this is one of the several San Diego restaurants adding fictitious charges to the bill. If $5-$8 tacos aren’t profitable enough to pay your waitstaff, I’m not sure what is!
Great meal. Service was good but not spectacular. Pricy for the tacos but that is La Jolla. You are paying for the location
The Guacamole was excellent fresh taste to the avocados and perfectly prepared. The habenero Sakai (pay extra for) was good but a bit seeet and not really that hot. Tacos ($19 for three were pricy but good). The filet mignonette taco was especially good. Great bear selection but had the margaritas instead that was good not too seeet.
Unfortunately the service was terrible took 15 minutes to drop chips and 35 minutes from when we placed our drink order before we got any appetizers. I had hosted several people from out of state and hyped up my favorite dishes however the overall service lacked. Unfortunately the nature of my business doesn’t allow For mistakes like this and quite frankly it was a waste of $600. Took three hours to play eight people’s tacos.
