Although we Reserved a table we got one next to the door. The ambience was ok but it was very loud. Service wasn’t the best. We ordered a salad with extra chicken and three filet mignon tacos and one beer. In the end we had a 53$ bill which was totally overpriced. The tacos were super small and we couldn’t find any of the meat - for 22$! The salad was pretty okay but there wasn’t any avocado in there as the menu says. In the end we wanted to talk with the manager because of the miss understandable menu card with the tacos. All he did was gave us a new bill and said ,,I want no stress so I’ll do the bill,,. No understanding from his side although he is the manager ! We won’t come again.
Service was excellent as were the chips and salsa. The chicken soup was so terribly salty that after only one bite from 3 people at our table, we sent it back. Even the manager agreed it was oversalted. The guac and carnitas tacos were edible but also veryyyy salty. The acustics are really poor--very loud and patrons need to practically shout to hear each other. We appreciated the Vegan options and the attention to detail as it pertained to a dairy allergy in our group.
Best tacos in San Diego County. Service was a little disorganized but didn’t distract from the experience.
We always like Puesto. The sangria is great and we have been there enough to have favorites on the menu.
Food was OK, not as good as reviews had stated. Guacamole was not great. Seemed just like crushed avocados and not enough lime, salt and cilantro. Tacos were just OK. Price was good on Taco Tuesday.
Very good food which we enjoyed a lot but well over priced!
Excellent, high quality Mexican food. A bit pricey.
Came with a 9 month old and had a great experience. Food was awesome and so was our server!
Made a reservation for 2:30 in afternoon, our table was not ready had to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Food was good, service was horrid. At one point all four members had empty glasses and waited and waited. When meals came, 3 of 4 came with a 7 minute for the fourth to come out. Manager came out and said that dish was on them...it was not. Our server was also one of the bar tenders, who was very occupied at the bar. Was hoping for a great meal following Yelp reviews, disappointed.
Good tacos. Good guacamole. Great margaritas. What more do you need?
A little (a lot) noisy for conversation. The restaurant is very small. The open windows (roll-up doors) were open and the weather always perfect in La Jolla. Inside the crowded space was a mix of adults drinking heavily and kids running around bumping into people. Keep your elbows in, almost like an airplane, with people moving quickly between the close tables.
Highly recommend reservations as the wait was well over an hour for small parties walking up for a table. Reservation wait was approximately 20 minutes. Host staff a bit uncoordinated with each other, resulting in hurt feelings and loud exchanges over who’s table was who’s (awkward?)
Food is always delicious, and I love the surprise taco of the month. But our service was inattentive, leading to empty drinks and guacamole without any chips. The crumbled broken ones just don’t dip well.
Watch out for the labor service charge - this is one of the several San Diego restaurants adding fictitious charges to the bill. If $5-$8 tacos aren’t profitable enough to pay your waitstaff, I’m not sure what is!
Great meal. Service was good but not spectacular. Pricy for the tacos but that is La Jolla. You are paying for the location
The Guacamole was excellent fresh taste to the avocados and perfectly prepared. The habenero Sakai (pay extra for) was good but a bit seeet and not really that hot. Tacos ($19 for three were pricy but good). The filet mignonette taco was especially good. Great bear selection but had the margaritas instead that was good not too seeet.
Unfortunately the service was terrible took 15 minutes to drop chips and 35 minutes from when we placed our drink order before we got any appetizers. I had hosted several people from out of state and hyped up my favorite dishes however the overall service lacked. Unfortunately the nature of my business doesn’t allow For mistakes like this and quite frankly it was a waste of $600. Took three hours to play eight people’s tacos.
Overall a wonderful experience. The tacos and drinks were excellent. The service was slow and at 10pm the lights are on and you are encouraged to leave, but still a nice evening.
It will be good to include more vegetarian/ vegan options on the menu
I had the fish tacos and they were good but not great as hoped. My hubby has octopus taco, and two other types of fish and he raved about them. Chips and salsa and guacamole were perfect. My cocktail was really good too. Overall a good experience in La Jolla.
Amazing street corn and shrimp tacos
Great food. Great service. Wait staff was accommodating while the food was unbelievably delicious
Having a reservation definitely helped as there was quite a line up when I arrived - thank you!
AMAZING!!! Ahhh the elote appetizer, the tacos, TO DIE FOR!
Best tacos-my new favorite taco place! So creative and the flavors are so different and delicious!
Always a fun choice and good food. We have had many great meals at Puesto in La Jolla.
Food was awesome. A little pricey but well worth it.
So I wish I could leave a good review but unfortunately our experience wasn’t a great one. We came for my wifes birthday and had reservations booked a week or so in advanced. Food and service was good once our server came. Here’s the not so good parts: table was under a leaking vent (water constantly dripping on us, the table, and we had to rearrange everything to make it function). They were aware and apologized, offered to move us (we accepted), but then they never did. Additionally it took about 10-15 minutes before someone greeted us after we were seated. Last which wasn’t really their fault I guess, but it was so loud to the degree that the servers were apologizing for it. Wasn’t the night I expected considering they even called ahead and knew it was for my wife’s birthday and that we had kids. Oh well, not the end of the world tho.
Fantastic place. I eat tacos multiple times a week and the filet mignon tacos I had here were the best tacos I have ever eaten. The ceviche was delicious and the service was impeccable.
Our server was a very nice young guy, fast, attentive but not too attentive, and gave excellent drink recommendations! The wait was average, not too long even though the place was packed, and not too short to make me wonder how they cooked the food that quickly. Most tacos were under seasoned, certainly under salted.
Fish tacos: fried well, needed more salt, and the taco as a whole was dry. Needs a sauce.
Al Pastor, Filet, and shrimp tacos were pretty good. All needed salt, and shrimp were quite large! Great tamarind sauce on the shrimp. As a whole, all tacos could’ve used some spice, but I understand not everyone would want that.
Chicharrones had awesome seasoning, nice and crunchy! That was probably our favorite. Didn’t order the guacamole but the table next to us did and the portion size was much bigger than we would’ve expected!
Margaritas were great, tequila selection was spot on for a Mexican restaurant, but all in all everything was priced a little higher than it’s worth.
I would recommend trying Puesto! Plenty of food options, great location for walking around La Jolla, but make a reservation to avoid a wait. We likely won’t go again, but were happy to give it a try!
Uncomfortable seating, food and drinks were good but unremarkable. Our waiter was quite busy but very attentive and gracious.
Always yummy and great drinks.
Amazing shrimp and filet Minon tacos.!!!!
Best tacos in town and the Guacamole was amazing! The only thing they did not have that I wanted was a lemonade :)
Food is outstanding and creative. Margaritas are inspirational. A great place to take out of town guests who have a preconceived idea of "Mexican" food. A bit pricey.....but worth every bite.
We will return!
Great restaurant. A bit expensive, but the food was really good
Our first waiter was a problem. We spoke with the manager Tori who handled things perfectly. Ended up being a good dinner
It was our first time eating here and the service was amazing! The waiter was great with suggestions and very attentive. The food was fantastic! Great tacos! I would definitely eat here again and recommend their Taco Tuesday for great pricing!
Always delicious and imaginative food. Our server was terrific...fast, friendly and helpful.
Every year we come to town, it’s our first place to eat!! My kids always ask if I’ve made reservations for Puesto!! EVERYTHING we’ve eaten has been fabulous! Such great flavor to everything as well as the drinks!!
