This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at Puesto. It took over 20 minutes for our drink order to be taken. We had to be moved to a different table due to rain. This wouldn’t have been a problem had that not taken another 20 minutes. The staff couldn’t figure out if they should move umbrellas over to our table and fumbled around with that before apparently deciding moving us to a table under an umbrella that was already set up was a better idea. The three people in my party ordered the exact same thing as in we each ordered the same two tacos. However, they got our order incorrect not once, but twice. Very disappointing.
The staff was enjoyable and the food was delicious!
Puesto did an outstanding job for our larger group. Would highly recommend for high quality of the food and professional servers.
Decent food, but nothing spectacular. The server was nice, but young and inattentive. Overall, pleasant experience.
Delicious tacos and margaritas! Avocado margarita, filet taco, and verduras taco were favorites. Margaritas are fresh - no sour mix in sight. Sides of rice and beans were very tasty so don’t fill up on the awesome chips and salsa! We came for our honeymoon and they treated us to a special sipping tequila. Highly recommend!
Great food even with a limited menu. The tacos were delicious and my favorite was the steak with the portabella mushroom a close second.
Well to start the tacos were amazing. The cocktails and tequilas picked for these dishes were good as well. I’m not a cheap person when I go out for dinner and drinks but to pay $100+ for two people is a bit much for tacos. All we ordered for our dinner was 3 tacos each an app and one cocktail each. I’m coming from Los Angeles where you can go get award winning tacos and cocktails at a modern Mexican restaurant for half the price but I guess it’s always about location location.
Outstanding outing. Samantha was amazing!
My wife and I eat here every time we are in San Diego. Love the food and great service!
Forgot to put our order in. Then gave us incorrect order. Awful!
Generally good food but a bit pricey - to pay 7 dollars for a taco seems high especially when a little over-cooked (e.g., pulpo)....That said corn is delicious as is the mexican fruit plate.
This was a Birthday Lunch(I put this on my reservation), we had reservations and waited 15-20 min to be seated, even though there were many tables. My drink took a long time to arrive and it was about 35 min after our reservation time that we got chips and waters. We ordered a corn appetizer which they forgot to bring out, the Beef Tostadas had so many Serrano Chile’s that it was inedible. The taco plate I had was just okay. The Chicken Pastor was completely saturated and covered my entire hand and dripped red sauce down my arm-New experience. The Carnitas taco was super dry and hard to eat, basically a huge hunk of pork and the Chicken Tomatillo one I had to ask for Sour Cream because it was a big dry piece of chicken in a tort Orioles. No flavor, not great for almost $20/taco plate with no beans or rice. In spite of choosing this place for my birthday they didn’t acknowledge it nor bring us any dessert or sing, etc. I have been looking forward to coming to celebrate for weeks.
This place is great and the food is delicious. It’s more of a family place. The drinks are tasty.
Took my family, including kids 5-11, here for lunch following the Holiday Bowl Parade. We were seated immediately but at an outside table (55 degrees and threat of rain). We opted to wait a bit longer for an inside table. I feel they should ask if you want to be outside, not just assume it’ll be fine. Inside table was still super cold as they had the 2 story front doors wide open along with 3 other doors. Yes, it’s San Diego, but 55 is too cold for open doors. Had to wrap my daughter in a blanket we happened to have on hand.
Service was initially good, but fell apart as the restaurant filled. Food came quickly, but they were a bit confused about our order. Told us the made an extra kids meal by mistake? Lost in translation, I suppose, as they really meant they included an extra kids taco by accident.
Food was tasty, but not worth the price tag. Plus the extra 4% surcharge for kitchen staff. With the price point of the meals ($17 for three tacos, no beans, no rice, no garnish) a surcharge seemed excessive.
I wouldn’t be in a hurry to return. It’s likely a lovely place for some, but just not a good fit for us.
Our families favorite tacos in all of San Diego!!
The homemade blue tortilla shells were excellent and love that you could see them being made. Was in town for the weekend and love the area Puesto is located in as well. Definitely a go!
Super slow service. Sever messed up our order. On top of that, one grilled fish taco had raw fish. We love the location in Orange County, but this one has failed us twice. We will not be back.
Two words. Filet- taco.
The food was mediocre , found a hair in my drinks. The fish taco- fish taste old.
We really enjoyed our first meal at Puesto. Our server was one of the best waiters I've had in 2018 (didn't get his name but he also works for Delta -- great guy). We had the guacamole, two aquas frescas and two tacos each. The filet mignon taco and the chicken al pastor were the shining stars. The mango-lime aqua fresca was better than the jamaica and I would skip the guac next time as it was nothing special. The salsa was really great, flavorful and fresh. Enjoyed sitting outside on a brisk afternoon -- a quieter option than sitting inside. The heat lamps nearby kept us warm. Would totally come back here again.
We were seated on the patio on the outside of the restaurant. It was a cold day and we had to ask three times to get the heater started. We love coming here,
food is OK
They were very accommodating to our large party of 18
Great vibe though I felt we weren’t seated in the heat of the action. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The waitress was friendly and helpful. Overall a great evening.
Great food and great area. Hostess was great and friendly, what was her name on Friday afternoon?
Puesto at the Headquarters offers a unique environment in the previous SD Police HQ. They offer a great menu with indulgent tacos to bowls. We especially like the Puesto Perfect Guacamole that has chunks Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. If you just want a taste of the guacamole, you can request a 1/2 order. The salsa is good and the chips are just above average. My favorite taco is the carne asade that is baked in cheese. Outdoor seating is nice and upper level is good too. I don't care for the inner back area that when it gets crowded, it can be loud with voices bouncing off the concrete walls.
Winner Winner Chicken dinner! Well not exactly but Puesto is on point in every aspect. Great atmosphere and good service. Food was creative, fresh and delish.
I enjoyed the meal at Puesto. The corn tortillas are exquisitely scrumptious. Their producing fresh, noteworthy flavors. The staff was friendly perfectly battered fish tacos are something delicious to write home about!
Mackenzie was a great hostess, the food was brought out quickly and her the rest of staff was very friendly.
very young staff, noisy, slow, ok food. Not a good value - expensive for what it is, both quality and quantity.
Recommend making reservations at Puesto, especially during the weekends. I ordered the baja fish tacos - great meal if you're hungry. They give you generous portions of fish in the 3 tacos provided.
I also tried their pina-limon agua fresca as recommended by the waiter. This non-alcoholic drink was delightful and refreshing. Great drink to wash down the chips and salsa.
Great tacos. Slow service
I Made the mistake of coming here on taco Tuesday. This place seems great! The service was pretty good, but it was really busy. I ordered 3 tacos, which were very small, but pretty tasty. Normally they would’ve been $17, but when I got the bill, they were only $10.50. I also ordered an appetizer twice, which never came out. Just the bill. Guess she wanted my seat. So, I left and went to another restaurant for a snack and dessert.
Knocked down the food because the best taco, the gluten free mushroom taco, is no longer available. Another mushroom taco, not gluten free, is now in its place. The food is still very good but a little less exciting for my family now as we are GF.
Food was great! Drinks were delicious. Location, atmosphere and ambiance were perfect. What set it above was our server, Jessica! She gave us a great menu overview and made some suggestions for drinks, apps and tacos. She was phenomenal!
over-priced for tacos that really don't taste very good
Ordered the fish tacos and they were just OK. I’ve had better fish tacos at a fast food restaurant. Another person in my party ordered the vegetable tacos and they were awful! This place is way overpriced for what you get
The service was great as always! Someday I’ll try something other than the three taco plate... but with all the amazing taco choices, I don’t have to.
