We love Puesto. The Parmesan guacamole is amazing. Brandon was a very good server. The tacos are the best!
Great food. Can’t beat the trio taco option. All are delicious. My favorite is with the Ahi tuna. Food is pretty spicy. Be sure you get the low down before you order. The guacamole is delish. Spicy margarita ok. Could be spicier for my taste. Definitely recommend eating at Puesto.
Puesto was a great choice for our weekly Taco Tuesday celebration! They offer $2.50 tacos (some require an upcharge) from 3-close. The spicy marg and Puesto perf marg were both delicious. We started with the classic guac which was great but the chips and salsa can stand on their own. The tinga de pollo taco of the month and chicken verde were spicier than expected but still great. I took a chance with the zucchini and cactus one and had no regrets! The service was a bit slow but understandably since the place was packed. It worked out as we got two bonus margs from it :). Highly recommend!
We had a reservation but they sat us outside on a chilly evening without asking our preference. It took forever to get our food. Food wasn’t anything great.
Restaurant advertises itself as serving "Mexican Street Food". Not even close. Real Mexican street food is simple, fresh & tasty. Food quality at Puesto is poor. Signature dish - tacos - are pre-prepared, and a compilation of ingredients, flavors & spices. The soft shell crab was inedible. Tasted of ammonia. To their credit, the restaurant credited the bill for the cost of the dish. Would not return.
Our server was great and the food was fresh, fun and interesting!
This was our first time to this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. Great food and drinks.
Excellent spicy margaritas and the tacos were amazing. Even the chips and salsa were way above average. Service was prompt and friendly.
The food and drinks are amazing. Don’t miss the guacamole. We tried the sangria and margarita, both were perfect. We had a variety of tacos. They were all so good we could not pick a favorite.
Awesome. Mason was an great waiter who offered great suggestions.
It was our last night in San Diego and we wanted a fun night out close to the sea that wouldn't break the bank. We enjoyed the guacamole with cheese, tasty margaritas and the make your own taco trios (we got tuna, beef fillet, cactus and 3 types of chicken; all were delicious but we liked the tuna and cactus ones the best). Service was great, food was tasty and it was a wonderful evening.
I like the location, but I was disappointed in the food. The restaurant had 4.3 stars out of 5. Both my friend and I felt that the food had no flavor and we both eat and cook Mexican food all the time, living in San Diego.
Terrible service. Waited half hour for drink order. Longer for food order. Drinks are overpriced. $ 17 s shot of tequila. Also charge 3% service charge. Ripoff
Took lunch reservations and had a great table for our family’s last day on vacation in SD. It was a cool vibe and great food and good service.
Sarah was awesome
Our first visit, we were seated late, given a terrible table under the stairs, and the service went downhill from that. We were there 2 hours and had to flag the staff for our drinks twice for each round. Our tacos (lukewarm and soggy) were not served till 1 1/2 hours after we were seated, accounting for one appetizer in between. Even the manager came by twice to help out. Our server was too busy and frustrated. Worse service we've ever had. The only consolation is the price, it is cheap compared to the Bay Area.
Awesome place! Great Margaritas and service!!!
My friends and I have all dined at this restaurant individually so it was nice to gather together to enjoy the atmosphere and their cute decor, over their delicious drinks and food! The waiter and hostess recommended great menu and drink items! The waiter was amazing! He took care of us during our whole dining experience, split our tabs, and even let us chatter for another 30 mins, all without feeling the rush to offer the table to another party. Great service!
Best tacos ever, the guacamole was fresh and you can really tell that the place only serves fresh ingredients. The lobster tacos were amazing and I’m not even a fan of lobster but they were amazing. Love the fact that the tortilla were freshly made . Can’t wait to go back , well worth a 3 hr drive .
The food is phenomenal. Not your average taco... truly have never had tacos so delicious. Mexican fusion? I guess that’s what I would call it. And the waitstaff was attentive but not annoyingly so. 10/10 would recommend.
Great food and service! I came with some family members who can be hard to please and they were delighted, so it was a success!
We had so much fun at our meal, and we loved everything we tried! My husband and I both did the mix and match tacos, and it was a blast trying all the unique combinations.
Atmosphere was fun and lively. It may have been a little on the loud side (overhead music) for the business lunch meeting I was trying to conduct.
But overall it was nice. I would like to visit again.
Nice taco place in downtown with a cool vibe. They have some excellent taco selections & a great bar. I'd go back again.
Not enough heaters on patio. Froze to death. Had a reservation and wasn’t given an option for indoor/outdoor dining. Would not have booked there if had known would be outside.
We absolutely love Puesto, BUT this week San Diego got cold (58 degrees outside during our dinner)! Beware Puesto leaves many doors wide open throughout the restaurant, and it was freezing. Because of fire codes, apparently they could only close some of them, which didn't help too much. But the manager cranked up the heat and comp'ed us some tequila shots to help us warm up, and that actually helped a lot. The food and service are top notch, but if it's less than 65-70 degrees outside, I recommend dressing warm!
Great food, warm and friendly staff.
Creative combinations in the tacos. The ingredients were fresh and the appetizers and sauces all tasty. Portions are are the small size but great for a lighter Mexican lunch. Open setting is chilly on a cool day but great server.
It was very good, though it was understaffed in the aecond level
After reading many positive reviews about Puesto I thought I'd book in advance so we could enjoy some mexican food in San Diego. I was sorely disappointed.
I arrived 15 mins early for my 530pm reservation on a Sunday night. They weren't busy. Plenty of empty tables. I waited 15 mins in the cold outside and decided to ask when my table would be ready again at 530pm. The host then said she would seat me. On arriving upstairs there were several empty tables. I'm sure I'd still be sitting outside if I hadn't of prompted the host.
Overall it appeared that the hosts and servers did not want to be there. Rude and arrogant.
Meh. They give you corn chips and tasteless salsa to begin.
I ordered the blue crab guacamole which was ok but nothing special. I ordered the magic pork crackle. This was similar in taste and texture to prawn crackers (nothing magic).
I ordered the chicken, ahi and prawn tacos. The chicken and ahi were nothing special. Tasteless. The prawn was definitely the better tasting taco. However in my taco there were only 2 tiny pieces of prawn (see photos). The ahi and chicken were also dry. The prawn taco was soggy.
My husband liked the prawn taco but he ordered the beef and pork tacos and complained of a lack of taste with those 2.
Waited 15 mins for the first dish to arrive. Waited another 10 mins for drinks and the second dish to arrive
Main meals arrived 10-15mins later.
I would not recommend coming here.
Great tasting Mexican cuisine with their specialty being street tacos. They even offer a fruit platter as an appetizer or as a dessert that consists of cucumber, mango, watermelon, jicama, with lime juice and chili powder...just like you get in Mexico off of those fruit carts.
Excellent food. Choco taco for my birthday. Great service.
The best tacos ever. Accommodate gluten allergy and my friends nut allergy.
Very fun and festive. Our group had to talk really loud but that was ok. Portions and price were good. Food was excelente!
Sat upstairs. Beautiful space. Excellent service - we were accommodated quickly even though we were a large party. The drinks were excellent. The food was absolutely delicious - the octopus tacos were LIFE CHANGING. My friend who was there like it so much she took her family back the very next night (and got the octopus tacos again). 100% will go again when back in San Diego
Always the best time at Puesto! We love eating there. Food never disappoints and the service was great with Brandon. I know that they get slammed so for as busy at it was our server took great care to make sure our large party was covered.
While the food was delicious and unique, our order was forgotten, and people left and right to us have all received their orders and has dismissed. We were really patient, being it was evening and it was Valentines day. I guess what disappointed me was realizing that the whole time we were waiting because they had forgotten our order and not because it was backed up.
Excellent food service and environment
I loved the open dining concept and decor. We couldn’t have asked for better service and authentic tacos
