LISA IS THE BEST SERVER EVER. We only go when she works. Best tacos in downtown
Puesto is a fun date place or to take out of town guests. Their Mexican food is really good and unique. The service is attentive and prompt. Be sure to check out Taco Tuesday.
Some of the best and most interesting tacos I've ever eaten. Attention to detail and the flavor profile were both incredible.
We have been going to Puesto restaurant since it opened at seaport village. When It first opened it was great . It has gone down hill since. We are from San Diego. and eat out 4-5 days a week.
Yesterday we went back to give Puesto one more try. First the food was totally different. The salsa nothing like the original. The tacos were all terrible we ordered 3 filet mignon, 2 rib eye, 1 lobster and 2 chicken. Each one was soggy , had so much stuff, sauces, onion rings , pork rinds , could not recognize the rest. We also had 2 drinks the bill was $140 for 2 adults 2 children and we were still hungry when we left. We will not be going back there are too many great places that we’ll be spending our time and money . What a disappointment.
We wanted to have Mexican Food near to our hotel. Puesto was therefore the first choice.
Nice place, great food, lovely service!
food was cold, portions small, and chips were not even house made, for the price?
I'm so confused that this place is well rated. I went with a group from a conference, but I'm from LA and I know Mexican food. Theirs was completely bland - no salt, no spice. So disappointed. They took the fish tacos off my bill, but it sort of put a damper on the evening when I was hoping for good tacos.
Great visit. Good food and excellent service. Thank you.
Called to request outside seating and was promised the message would be passed on. It wasn't. Our party of 10 was sat in a cold room that they eventually fixed by turning off the air completely. Appetizers were great. Those of us who had the tacos felt things were oversalted.
Really good food and the service was very fast! My only issue was the flavor of the mushroom tacos.
At $17 for 3 tacos, we expected better quality, and not the soggy fish tacos we got. The house margarita was not weak, but surprisingly bland. And the pickled carrots that cost $5 are the same that any taco truck will give for free. At least the service was good and ambiance pleasant, but I would not recommend this place as I found it overpriced for the quality of the food. Lastly, I wish I had kept my receipt because our bill came out to $125 before tip, but I just added up everything we ordered, and with tax, should have totaled $114. Not sure what extra thing or fee we were charged for.
Tacos had great flavor but were cold and soggy. Three small tacos for $19 is a little crazy on price, in my opinion. We sat outside and lighting was very poor so I could not tell what I was eating. Once was enough for me, and I won't be back.
Huge portions and good food. Outside seating was very nice. Pricy for lunch.
A very nice surprise. We have been to Puesto in La Jolla, and enjoyed it very much, so decided to go to the location at The Headquarters. Embarrassed to say that while we have been living in San Diego for many years, we did not know about The Headquarters. The experience at Puesto was exponentially enhanced by the atmosphere and the energy at The Headquarters. Thankfully we made reservations, otherwise at 7.45pm on a Friday, we would have had to wait for over an hour to get a table. The food was better than at the La Jolla location. The potato taquitos and the chicken taquitos were fabulous! The 3 tacos plate was very filling - the mushroom taco and the verdura taco were a delightful surprise! there's really nothing to say about the lobster taco. It was a lobster taco. The service was wonderful and appropriately attentive. Overall, a great experience and one we would definitely recommend.
Great atmosphere! Food was delish and Samantha gave us excellent service! Great place to take out of town guests.
The ambiance was nice, the service was great, the tacos were good but overpriced in my opinion, unless you’re getting fillet mignon or lobster etcetera, you can get good tacos anywhere in San Diego.
We were looking forward to our first meal in San Diego. Based on all the reviews online, we picked Puesto, as we wanted to enjoy some Mexican food, with a nice decor to kick off our vacation. We were seated quickly and given our menu. 20minutes later, our server decided to show up, not to take our orders but gestured to assist us after two larger tables. We didn’t wanted to ruin our first night out, so we waited patiently. The server came back with a “comedic” line “so can we order some food or what?” We weren’t very impressed, as there weren’t any signs of apologies after an unnecessary, 25 minutes delay. I asked our server “are you guys under staff? Hence the delay?” He replied with an attitude “No, not really. It’s just the way it is. “ I was kinda shocked that I’ll get such an unprofessional reply, after all, I’m a paying customer and didn’t deserved to be treated like dirt. I guess he finally clued in when our group got pretty quiet after remarks, he added “it’s just how the tables came in” when he was only serving us and a few other tables around us. Anyway, his attitude improved slightly after making all those snappy comments, overall, we weren’t very impressed with the service, considering the number of awards and great reviews Puesto had received in the past. Didn’t want to give the restaurant a 1 star review, as it is truly a beautiful restaurant, hope this awful experience was an one off thing and not a reoccurring theme for other customers too. (especially if the clients are like us, clients of color)
I was really looking forward to a cute date night here, but the only good part was the atmosphere being down in Seaport Village and they have a cute patio. Our food was terrible. I ordered the mushroom tacos and they tasted like dirt. We got 2 apps: pickled carrots & also grilled corn. The grilled corn was pretty good but cold and the pickled carrots were beyond terrible. Just random veggies throw in a side dish and drenched in vinegar. Our waitress was missing half the time and just unenthusiastic. I would 11/10 recommend saving your money and going to City Tacos.
Delicious tacos! Great atmosphere! Fantastic service! Our server was great with offering dining suggestions, and she even gave us tourists advise on places to sightsee. Oh, and the filet taco was out of this world.
My cousin and I had a wonderful lunch! The chicken taco was fantastic! The cake we shared was fabulous! I had the shrimp ceviche which was so flavorful and I would have it again We can't wait to bring our husband's to your great establishment!
Soggy tacos. Disgusting! If you must use a knife and fork because the tortillas are soaking wet, Puesto is doing it wrong. In San Diego especially, what a poor excuse for a taco— or can you even call it that?
Salsa was incredibly salty. Server stated other guests shared the same feedback. Salsa was replaced promptly. Tacos were very greasy. Quality of food not at good as previous visits.
Fantastic experience all around! Had a party of 13 here for my daughter's 16 Birthday. From the reservation, which the restaurant confirmed, to having our table ready on time, great service (including coordinating timing between my daughter's large table and our smaller adults table), and delicious food (and great margaritas for the adults). Kids loved the food and special non-alcoholic drinks they got to order and the fun appetizer & desert they brought out. Every step made it special for my daughter and stress-free for me. Thank you so much to the restaurant and staff for delivering a great experience to our group!
We would recommend Puesto to a friend, with reservations. We have been to Puesto only once before, for lunch, 2 or 3 years ago, and loved the tacos. We have been wanting to go back for ages to get those amazing tacos I so fondly remembered. Well, I guess with time, the tacos grew better in my memory, or they just aren't as spectacular as before. We still liked them, but they were a little different. Three taco plate, filet, carnitas, and shrimp were good though. The winner by far, thus the 4 star food rating, was the corn side dish. Wow, gotta have that again! We were there for dinner this time, so wanted a drink. Major sticker shock for a margarita $13 for a smallish, weak drink. Has nothing on Casa De Pico margs (we live in East County). If we go back we will just stop by for lunch, and not as a destination dinner. Food prices we feel are reasonable, but wow, $12 for a meager wine pour, and $13-18 for margaritas, not doing that again. Tacos, corn, water.
This is a fun, innovative place to have dinner . The patio and inside seating are both great and there is a nice, pleasant vibe throughout the restaurant.
The food is not typical Mexican food as they really have some very different taco and bowl offerings on the menu. We enjoyed a number of their different specialities.
Pretty loud if you plan to bring kids. The menu looks better then it tastes. If your looking for more traditional Mexican- this is not the place. Good location though. The margaritas were tasty.
Great guacamole and margaritas. Service was good and loved the outdoor seating.
Fun atmosphere. Great for groups or small parties .
Excellent margaritas, great ambiance, and really outstanding food all can be had at Puesto. We loved it so much we went twice within a few nights! Well worth the wait. Recommended for a night out with friends or date night.
Tacos were fabulous! Everything else was just ok. Next time we want Mexican we will go to Old Town.
Whitney was our server. She was great. Food excellent.
The food was ok, not the quality than before, last year the food was better. Now is expensive for the quality, is sad
I absolutely love Puesto and their originality with “street taco” offerings. I was horrified to learn somebody at Puesto at the Headquarters changed their salsa recently! For years it has been the best salsa around, now it’s like Pace picante just not as chunky. Please bring back the original!
This is always at the top of my list for must-eat places in San Diego. Amazing guac and margaritas! And the tacos are really good. There was a mix up on my order, but the manager and the waitress made it right immediately and adjusted the bill accordingly. Great vibe and location!
Drinks are overpriced
It was soooo fun we went back the next night!!!!!!
The food and service were top notch. The hostess seated us a the worst possible two top next to a rowdy and boisterous table. There were plenty of other open tables in better parts of the room. But, she chose to seat us where she only had to walk a couple of feet.
Outstanding service and delicious food. Always my go to
