Puccini & Pinetti Ratings and Reviews
Celebrating a birthday with a friend whose birthday is next month.
She had three course lunch with chicken marsalla and was pleased.
I had beet salad and lemon cheesecake....iced tea all around.
Waiter most efficient and friendly, kept those glasses and water full.
We enjoyed our visit, the meal, the service, and the quiet.
We had reservations for the Museum of Ice Cream and I saw Puccini and Pinetti was a six minute walk from the Museum and who doesn't like Italian food. These was a great find and we will be back. The fried calamari and rock ship with the spicy sauce was a tasty beginning. We ordered two pizzas, spaghetti and meatballs and the cappelini. All were great and it was great sharing. I also recommend you stop by for their Happy Hour if you can.
GREAT location. FANTASTIC service. LOVELY ambience. Bland food. Disappointed with all of our dishes. My husband had a penne dish that looked full of flavor - was not. I ordered their signature spaghetti and meatballs and it looked amazing... and lacked any distinguishing flavor. Mild tomato, underspiced beef. The presentation was wonderful and we LOVED the wait staff. May try again hoping this was an off night during the busy Union Square holiday season.
Went to restaurant to have dinner with friends. The food was good dependable Italian nothing to fancy. The drinks from the bar were good. Check out the bar menu if you don't want a large meal, they have some great options. The main restaurant was noisy but clean. I had spaghetti and meatballs. They were good. The sauce was pretty dry and could have used more tomato.
I would go again but not at the top of my list.
The food was good. The service was excellent. Disappointed to see that they raised all of their prices for Christmas Eve. If I knew I was going to pay $$$ prices I would have chosen differently, I did my research and didn’t expect that. Our server was great. Atmosphere was nice.
We requested a more quiet table and the hostess seated us at a booth that was more away from the crowd. The bar area was very lively and yes, loud. No worries though. The food was very fresh and prices were not unexpected - not cheap but not outrageous. We had happy hour glasses of wine which was actually quite tasty. I recommend getting there at 5:15 or before 6:00 anyway. After that it becomes quite crowded and loud. Overall, very good Italian neighborhood restaurant.
Everything was just perfect. We had a table for Nine and 1 Baby....We were in the back corner which was perfect for the kiddos all to ourselves......It was a quiet day which was even better!!!! My Christmas in SF with my girls in the family/Daughter in laws and grand daughters...We will go back next year for our family tradition......
The three of us ordered different appetizers salads and soup to share . The bruschetta was outstanding, the minestrone soup tasty, the warm spinach salad excellent, the pear/Gorgonzola/pancetta pizza a taste delight and the polenta was good too. We had too much to eat and staying at a hotel, we couldn’t take the leftovers.... 😞. One in our party wanted spumoni ice cream but they didn’t have it. Oh well. A great place.
We dine here several times a year . . . usually when seeing a nearby play.
It's a good solid option, but it's not an exceptional place. Food is predictably good but seldom remarkable. Same for the service. Waiters are usually good, but maybe they have a few more tables than they should have. Wine is on the pricey side.
This time it was Friday night and the place was hoppin'. On other days and time, it's typically a little more pleasant. I prefer seating by the windows -- on the periphery of the sometimes noisy core. The bonus is sometimes is unexpected entertainment (see the guy in the photo).
