Great restaurant. I ate from the Gluten-Free menu and had fabulous chicken marsala and the lava cake. There were lots of different types of options. My colleagues ate from the regular menu and they were both very pleased with their food; it also looked fabulous. We also shared the caprese starter. I would recommend for all.
This was our first visit to Puccini and Pinetti and we were impressed. The only negative we experienced was a strong smell of polish or cleaning product upon entering. The swell dissipated over time or we became nose blind to it. The food was amazing and Randy offered outstanding service.
Quality of food was not good but what you’d expect from a restaurant catering to the tourist crowd. I was just hoping for more based on good reviews on opentable
Traveling on vacation, we are always looking for unique dining experiences. We were surprised by the lack of food options for an Italian restaurant. I had the halibut special which was very tasty. My daughter had the spaghetti and had to ask for extra sauce as it was a tad dry. The only option my husband & son found was pizza, which was good. Overall it was OK.
Good appetizers, frito misto. My wife had the eggplant dish and it was very good. Service for us that day was friendly but very slow. Took a while to get drinks, and had to ask for the check to be able to make an 8:00pm show when we arrived early for our 6:00pm reservation.
Excellent food fantastic service and extremely friendly staff!! Would highly recommend this restaurant!
The food and service were good but their payment system was down. After 15 min of waiting to pay the check we ended up using cash. Fortunately we had enough. Disappointing that the manager didn’t at least offer a discount do to their issue.
With my colleagues , cravinf for a great italian restaurant, this is the place! Food is phenomenal, the service is friendly and simply fantastic!
First time visitors for meand my wife. We enjoyed our dinner. My steak could have been more medium rare but it was acceptable. The restarant had a good urban vibe. We would come back again. The desserts were very good, cheesecake and the lava cake.
What a great spot! My friend and I were headed to a show at the Golden Gate Theatre, and I'm so happy we found this place! We shared a Warm Spinach Salad (yum!), and our mains were the Chicken Marsala and the Short Ribs. The food was excellent, and the portions generous...wish we could have taken our leftovers! (Don't think the theatre would've appreciated it!) From host, to server to busser, our service was outstanding! Looking forward to my next visit!
Good Italian food and service near Union Square. Has a nice gluten free menu for those who need such
i have sent many friends to Puccini & Pinetti over the years. The food is always great and staff is wonderful, friendly and very professional. The restaurant is close to shopping and a number of live theater venues.
Very pleasant dining experience. Atmosphere was casual and quiet. Service was outstanding especially the attentive friendly and prompt table service by my waiter Ryan. Food servings were extremely generous and extremely delicious. Good value for the money for both the quality and quantity of the food.
We truly enjoyed our dinner at Puccini & Pinetti. They did a great job on our gluten free meals, and nobody had any adverse reactions to gluten! Everything tasted delicious and we will definitely eat here again.
Muy agradable y muy atendidos
Had a very nice dinner. Ordered their special which was eggplant parmigiana. Fabulous! Had a glass of house white wine. Great value, service and food.
Great food, wonderful Service perfect location to the theatre. Will be back!

The food is always delicious and the service is wonderful. The severs are friendly and give you great advice on the menu item. It is a very comfortable atmosphere and you feel really relaxed there.
The food was delicious and our server was wonderful!!
Great food. Friendly, fast and efficient service from Paco. The steak was amazing but the creme brulee was to die for!!! Good location and frequented by locals :) always a good sign! Go of you can!
Food was great. I got a Panini with truffle fries. The truffle fries were amazing! My coworkers got the fettuccine, spaghetti and meatballs and the Marsala.
Everyone raved about the food. Service was good, too.
Very consistent meal!
Good consistent Union Square restaurant. Staff and service can be sketchy.
This is a typical hotel restaurant. It was very noisy the night we went but there was about 15 girl scouts in the rear of the restaurant. Service is great - very quick to seat us, bring water and drinks and the food came very quickly. While the spaghetti and meatballs were very flavorful the capallini had no flavor. Also - bread was stone cold - how does an Italian place serve ice cold bread?
We were going to a play that started at 8:00. It was my partner's birthday, so I made a reservation for 6:00. We were given a table by the window and Paco, our waiter, came right over. He was great. We weren't in a hurry so he didn't rush us. When we ordered, we asked to share a cesar salad and share a spaghetti and meatballs. Paco said we were very smart to share. I was surprised when they brought the salad on two plates so we didn't have to divide it- It was great- fabulous dressing. Our spaghetti seemed a bit pricey at $27.00, but again it was split for us and the half portion was huge!! It could have fed three people- not just two. We really enjoyed it- and consider sharing!
Reason - business meeting for 5
Reservation ease - good
Greeting - good
Table location - poor. Right in the traffic lane to the kitchen and next to 30 young girl scouts
Waiter - Great presence, efficient, responsive. Balance of the staff - below par.
Order accuracy - Poor. Didn’t prepare the gluten-free meal as ordered. Drinks improperly prepared and yet we were still were charged.
Meals - Poor. Spaghetti’s meatballs were almost impenetrable. Sauce for pasta was more like a beef gravy than tomato based.
Ambiance - Great if you like being seated on the cable car tracks.
The special pasta entree was very good
Service wasn't anything special. Waitress must have had a shift change during our meal-never saw her after placing our order. Food was decent; warm spinach salad was the highlight. Everything seemed appropriately priced except for the steak-they marked that up considerably and although I ordered it rare, it was medium-rare to medium.
The wine, the food, the service....this place is the most underrated restaurant on yelp Ive ever been to....FANTASTIC. The staff is AMAZING, GO!
We have dined at this restaurant 4 times after attending a play or musical, and each occassion was a pleasurable experience. We had our usual frito misto to start, and spaghetti with meatballs entree. For dessert, we enjoyed (inhale) the tiramisu and a latte for me. They make the best lattes i have ever tasted. I am sure we will go again and again.
My granddaughter’s 18th Birthday and we have a tradition of lunch and shopping in SF. She loved the restaurant and Cole to Union Square for shopping. Perfect and loved the food
Italian food in San Francisco is a multiple choice decision. We really enjoyed or meal and experience. Try it
Pleasantly surprised by this spot which based on its location, i presumed catered more to tourists than locals. Very good fried calamari, (happy hour price is fantastic!) and mussels. Margaritas and mojitos were on point (again, great happy hour prices). One of us had short ribs, which was one of the most tender and well cooked versions I've had in a long while. I didn't try the other dishes my friends had, but everyone was happy. Relaxed atmosphere, and attentive servers. Would recommend for anytime, especially for a pre-theater spot or happy hour.
We both had their thin crust pizza. Crust was similar to flatbread. Noise level low and service was great.
Puccini & Pinetti had a nice atmosphere and even nicer food. Everything was good, presented well, and tasty. For my taste, there was too much dressing on the Caesar salad, but that didn't stop me enjoying it.
Tasty food. Front hostess was kind of impatient and rushing to seat us any where even I indicated at my reservation no high top. We had to wait for a booth
This used to be a very good restaurant, but service has gone downhill. They totally messed up a simple candle in a dessert to celebrate a birthday. I won't be coming back.
Service great. Food delicious.
An adequate but very limited wine list and, oddly enough for an Italian restaurant, almost no Italian wines.
The risotto was excellent.
