Very underwhelmed first visit to Publico. The cocktails were not balanced and we had to send one back. Also, the same cocktail between bartenders were inconsistent and tasted completely different. The food was mediocre. Nothing special. The space is really nice but they need to overhaul quite a few things. Also the giant “El Jefe” martinis are the biggest rip off. The regular sized glass is just as big. It’s supposedly 5oz vs 9oz which these glasses most certainly were not 4oz different.
I'm sorry for your experience Craig. It seems like you caught us on a bad night. Please feel free to reach out to me directly to discuss this further Joe@publicoboston. A note on the martini the 5oz/9oz pour is based on volume. We do use two different glasses that are 7 and 10 oz capacities respectively. I can assure you they are different sized glasses. To compare, we offer a 6oz and 9oz wine pour that utilizes the same glass, with a different volume of wine based on what is ordered.
We mostly ate small plates and pizza. Everything was absolutely delicious. And the cocktails were really fun. Highly recommend!
Thanks so much Jane!! Visit again soon.
Incredible. Publico has the best food and vibe in Boston, and Serena is the best waitress EVER! This will be my new go-to spot.
That's so great to hear. We'll definitely let Serena know too! She's the best!
Excellent food and service. Great variety of drinks. A little something on the menu for everyone !! Tad bit loud but expected - very crowded & hopping place !!
Thanks so much ELMS! We hope to see you again soon.
As always a great meal. One of our favorite places to eat.
The menu doesn’t offer that much of a variety. It could be due to the currently Resturant climate or just a new direction from the chef. Past experiences definitely offered more of a variety to tease the taste buds. Food was good.
Sorry you feel there is a lack of variety. We do change our menu every few months and this is one of our larger selections of items we've ever had with over 40 individual items. We also offer a completely different menu as a special every Tuesday & Wednesday (3 courses for $38), so please do check back again to see if we have any new items you might want to try out!
Food and service were good but the restaurant is incredibly loud. The music is club-level loud in the dining room and there was a strange mix of people who had been drinking there all day and people coming in for dinner. Made for an awkward dynamic.
Sorry about the experience Chris. Weekends are a little different vibe for us than weekdays. We do hope you give us another chance.
Love Publico. One of our fav, go to places. Highly recommend.
Thanks so much Shea!! Hope you see you again soon.
Nice place-excellent server. Salad had way too much dressing.
Sorry about the salad Jerry. Please let us know next time and we'll make it right. Glad to hear the service was great though!
great friendly staff!
We appreciate it!! Please come back again soon. =-)
My grandson loved the gluten free pasta with parmesan. I enjoyed the delicious charred octopus followed by 6 lolly-pop lamb chops (and that was the SMALL size!). Terrific place.
Thank you so much Riker!!! Hope to see you again soon.
We had a wonderful meal! We both ordered the same things from the 3 for $38 Tuesday menu. The Butternut bisque was absolutely delicious: a little spicy, mild but complex curry flavor. The swordfish and vegetable rice were the same: fish and vegetables cooked to perfection! The only disappointment was the cookie dough bread pudding, which sounded wonderful but was only pretty good; definitely didn’t live up to our expectations after such fantastic first two courses. Would highly recommend this place for the food. Ambience was nothing special, and it got very loud by 8 pm.
Thanks Kris! Sorry about the bread pudding but glad you enjoyed everything else. We change our 3 for $38 every month so be sure to check back again!
Great service - the hostess, manager, and waitress that we had all made for a great experience!
Had a really great experience. The food was delicious (steak frites, and a chicken dish). Service was timely and present. Also enjoyed the Orange Rhymes With What? cocktail. Just a great night overall. Very cool ambience to the setting as well.
Thank you so much! We hope to see you again soon!!
Great drinks. Great burger. Though, in the past, the fried chicken wings have been delicious, the past 2 times I have ordered, they had an odd taste. They tasted "off". An odd taste. Not sure what the reason, but definitely disappointing.
Thanks for the feedback. We haven't changed anything about our wing recipe but we will definitely let the Chef know. If you want to send me a private message, I'd like to discuss further joe@publicoboston
My friends and I headed over after seeing the Van Gogh exhibit. We started with the burrata, fried zucchini and wings. They were all delicious. I had the salmon which was cooked perfectly. My friends had the fried chicken sandwich and they loved it! My sister got the fish tacos and she said they were fresh and light. Our server was outstanding. We will definitely be back!!
Thanks Rebecca!! Hope to see you again soon.
Phenomenal food and service
Great owner great staff everyone was very friendly
Exceptional service by our server, Hannah. She particularly made our experience memorable.
Thanks so much Allie! We'll be sure to pass it along.
Great ambiance but expect to wait. We only ordered 2 appetizers and didn’t receive our food for an hour and a half.
Hits every time
Excellent great food
Thanks so much!!
It was a great environment overall. Ask to be seated in the dinner area or patio. The bar can be a bit loud.
Thanks Jennifer! Please visit again soon.
Meatball sliders, Tuna tartare, and oysters were excellent! Good service as well. Highly recommend
Thanks Dodge! Hope to see you again soon!!
Unreal 3 for 38 meal deal
Thank you so much! Chef knocked it out of the park this time. Our menu does change monthly on the 3 for $38 so please do check back again soon!
Great food, loved the 3 for $38 special it was so fun doing that with a friend!!! Portions were so solid, really great bang for your buck. Everything was so flavorful too!! Cute drinks 🍹
Thank you so much! Our menu does change monthly on the 3 for $38 so please do check back again soon!
Food took way too long. There were people hovering over our table while we ate. The service was slow.
Food was delicious and service was great
We went for the $38 three-course menu, but as it was 80 degrees outside neither of us wanted the warm, heavy entrees included (carbonara, fish and chips, or steak), so we opted for the regular menu. With a special like that starting in summer, I was disappointed that there were no lighter options like a salad, etc. The frose that I ordered to cool me down was way too sweet, but the espresso martini was above average as it contained Frangelico, a prime ingredient for a good 'tini. We ordered the burrata, which was a solid 4/5, and the tzatziki dip which was out-of-this-world good. The restaurant is quite loud so it was hard for my friend and I to hear each other (we were seated at the high tops next to the bar area), so next time I would opt for the dining room. Overall this was a pretty good first experience -- the patio outdoor dining area is beautiful so next time I'll try to book outside, weather permitting.
Thank you for the feedback! We are glad you enjoyed everything. We do our best to make the 3 for $38 the best value possible and different from our regular dinner menu, which is always available to order from as well, and does contain some lighter apps and entrees.
Five out of five, it was busy for a Wednesday night. Only downside to the place is lack of blocking.
Thanks so much!! We hope to see again you soon.
The banana nutella french toast was so tasty! I had the lobster Benedict which was so moist and good servings of lobster. Also ordered the magnum champagne with 3 fruit purrs which was more than enough for two people.
Thank you so much Kay! Please visit again soon and try us out for dinner next time =)
Great young energy
Amazing as always
We appreciate it!
Hands down my favorite restaurant - never disappoints!
Best review we can get! Thanks so much Angela. I hope we always continue to impress.
Great place for brunch. Enjoyed the outdoor setting.
Thank You Noel! Our dinner menu isn't so bad either =)
Good ambiance, poor service. Did not feel wait staff was attentive.
Great service great food never a complaint
Love this place
Thank you so much Donald!!! Please come back soon for more 5 star food and service.
Vibes are cool, service was alright. But our food took almost one hour and a half to come out, and we weren’t even there at a busy time - it was towards the end of the night, before the restaurant was turning into a bar. And then when the food did arrive, it was not even good.. cool to see but will not come back.
I'm terribly sorry about this and your experience. While our nights can get very busy, I do apologize. I hope you do try us again as you can see by our other reviews, this is not a good representation of us. If there is a problem with your service we do hope you would let us know while you are here at the restaurant so we can try to correct it.
