Marvelous menu. Beautiful presentation. Management attentive. Will return.
Was visiting Miami with some friends and this was hands down the best restaurant we ate at. The service was great, food was amazing, and if you can sit in their “library” you’ll love it. We skipped dessert and ordered espresso martini’s, absolutely amazing! Will definitely be back!
My husband and I wanted to try a new restaurant for our anniversary, and we had been talking about going to Public Square for months — we made a reservation and came in for happy hour. The happy hour here is AMAZING! First off, the service is top notch. Our server, Andres, was very attentive and the host was also very kind. All of the cocktails and food we ordered on the happy hour menu were good, but we especially really enjoyed the sliders. We will definitely be back!
Awesome service, great recommendations, and amazing food!
Very nice atmosphere. Great service, and presentation.
Cold coffee at brunch, parts of the food were cold as if cooked at various times.
Great time with old friends
Nice dining space. Steak under cooked but quickly remedied . Will return
My main hold off with really liking this restaurant was the food wasn't quite there for me. In particular, the mac and cheese tasted like it had gorgonzola in it, which is a pretty strong flavor to not be mentioned on the menu or when ordered. We had ordered a iceberg wedge too, not realizing the mac and cheese would be a similar flavor. The tomahawk was good, but the sauces for the steak, unfortunately, were not good. This kind of ruined the experience of the meat for me. The truffle butter was the same butter we received with the milk rolls (not sure if that is the norm) and did not have the flavor of truffle at all and seemed to have a lot of rosemary from what I remember. Oddly enough, the rosemary-scented demi tasted exactly like a plain chicken stock, and the béarnaise's flavor did not stand out against the meat. We wanted to try the chimichurri but they warned us that it was piquillo pepper -- not traditional and something I would have preferred if they stuck to the original. It was unfortunate since I had high expectations for the sauces. We did like the onion rings. Overall, the service and ambiance were nice, and they did a good job with distancing, but I'm not sure if I will be returning for the steaks too quickly!
Very few people in restaurant in fact, total of 4 people the entire time we spent during brunch and that includes me and my date. Prices were on the higher end but, food tasted good and portions were adequate.
Was excited to try this restaurant and hoped it would be a nice addition to the neighborhood but were very disappointed. The food just wasn't good with two of our dishes, the corn fritters and roasted cauliflower, being inedible and the rest just okay.
Appetizers were awesome. Stone crabs not fresh but dinner and wine selections were outstanding.
Legend was an incredible server. Managers went above and beyond. Will definitely go back!
First time, disappointed they were out of two appetizers and one entree. That is not a great way to impressed a first timer at the restaurant.
Amazing! Cant wait to go back! Food was delicious, ambience was very peaceful and service was top notch.
Overpriced but good food
Charging for bread is super annoying
And a way to make extra $$&$
Just not cool with me
Oysters were amazing just smaller than we would have liked. Sushi rolls were beyond amazing and a pleasant surprise.
Scallops tender and cooked great, however the mushroom risotto was a bit undercooked and just ok in my opinion. Still tasted great though.
Server was lovely & pleasant and went above to make sure we had what we needed and wanted. Restaurant was clean and had a nice vibe. We will be returning very soon.
Our server, Legend made all the difference! What an amazing disposition!!
We have come back twice and purchased a wine box.
This will definitely be our go to restaurant for ourselves and our friends!
Legend, you rock, thank you!!

Restaurant was nice inside tables properly distanced. The staff was very attentive and the service great..We had oysters on the half shell perfectly sized but at $4 each higher then other restaurant in this area. The special grilled oyster appetizer was tasty. We were not in the mood for a heavy meal so we are ordered two additional appetizers. The foie gras empanadas and the steak tidbits were delicious. We also tried the crispy tuna and hamachi jalapeño rolls which were good. Hubby very happy with the various choices of beers on tap and the wine list is extensive. The restaurant is good but on the expensive side. We like to support our local dining establishments but this one will be special occasions only or happy hour adventures
First time visiting Public Square. I have heard good reviews and this place didn’t disappoint. All the dishes our group ordered were excellent. Our server Legend was great and gave us his recommendations which did not disappoint. The filet appetizer was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The charbroiled oysters were amazing. The mushroom risotto was the best I’ve had and I paired it with the scallops as per Legend’s recommended. The double cut pork chop was another favorite. Great restaurant in SOMI. Will be back.
Food was good, but not spectacular. Don’t think this is a 5 star establishment as stated here. We had about 5 appetizers on menu and I would say that 2 were really good the others taste wasn’t as expected or described by waiter. Service provided was great and attentive.
Hillstones to me is a 5 star restaurant for their quality, taste, and consistency in food prep any day and it doesn’t even have that rating by people.
Been twice. Same concerns each time, too expensive for food that is not served hot, drinks take about 15-20 minutes to get (sat at the bar so i know they are working, but not enough help), overly friendly if you can believe that (just in your face too much), ran out of something i wanted each visit, and regular items, not specials. Great place has potential, but needs to step it up on quality.
The food is really good, and the service was great. Definitely recommend, and we will be back. Only reason we didn't give it 5 stars is that it was a bit loud (music, where sometimes it was hard to hear my husband at our table or hard to hear the server) and some of the LED lighting in the wine racks was a bit bright (like a spotlight on some tables), which threw off the ambiance a bit (too white, competing with the tungsten lighting otherwise throughout).
The place to go in South Miami for great food and wine.
Phenomenal food and exceptional service by Andrés.
Steak was delicious and ceviche too. Didn’t love the crab cakes or the sushi (both too fishy tasting). Very pretty place and live band, but the band is a little too loud to talk easily above the music. With a few tweaks it could be a very nice local place for a steak dinner.
Once you get used to not having the name Shula’s you’ll appreciate the freedom and variety in the menu with same knowledgeable and friendly staff! A South Miami legend!
Food and service both great
So happy to have a nice restaurant back in the neighborhood, but definitely worth the drive for others that don't live so close. Branzino was excellent and the fingerling potatoes were surprisingly delicious (I'm not a fingerling fan, but I am now.) Our server Liz was excellent. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes and bites!
Restaurant lacked social distancing at the Bar and Bar Sitters were too close to our table. Management socialized at reception desk and when one manager finally came to our table, it was a token visit at best! We waited close to 15 minutes for attention. Once we got a waiter and insured he understood our expectations, he was excellent. We were long time customers of Shula’s 347; but this first visit to Public Square was very disappointing. My churasco steak was excellent. My wife’s halibut left a lot to be desired! Had to purchase bread!!!! Waiter asked if we wanted large or small oysters on the half shell. I said large; the oysters were very small! Delicious, but small. We did not stay for dessert because my wife was so afraid of COVID Risk due to the lack of social distancing. She said we will never go there again!!
Service was great. Food was good too, although it's a bit pricey.
The restaurant had a great ambience. Food was delicious, service was great. The only draw back I found was it was a bit too pricey.
Incredibly bad experience. Plenty of open tables and they sat us in the back by the kitchen. They would not accommodate us, even though I made a reservation a week beforehand. Food was awful and mediocre service. Never going back. What a joke.
Excellent. It was nice to see many familiar faces as many of the staff and management were at Shula's 347, previously at the same location. The decor of Public Square was beautiful, made us feel right at home. The service was extraordinary and the food was great.
My husband and I were heartbroken that Shula’s closed, but I believe this restaurant has the same owners and it didn’t disappoint! Ambiance was really great, filet mignon, mac and cheese, corn fritters, and mashed potatoes were perfect and service was great.
Amazing! The food and service were beyond my expectations.
My husband thinks that it was overpriced!!
But over all , had a good dining experience
Very enjoyable evening
We enjoyed the early dinner very much! The staff was super friendly and the food was superb. Totally recommended!
Food and service exceeded expectations. First class steak and seafood restaurant in downtown South Miami/Gables. Upscale and comfortable ambiance. Will definitely be back.
