Julian was excellent! The food was prepared perfectly and we had a nice time as usual at Public Service!
Not sure why the reviews of this place are so high but my group of 5 were throughly disappointed. We arrived and were promptly seated placed our drink orders and ordered a bottle of wine and waited almost 30 minutes. We requested bread and it never came. The entrees came 1 hour later. It seemed like the restaurant was catering to the bar scene than diners. The fish came and had a tomato based sauce that was very bland. The desert, bread pudding, was dry and it looked like it crumbled on the corner. The server kept apologizing but it just wasn’t worth the $120.00 per person cost. At 8pm the lights were turned up bright like it was closing time with the gate entrance closed to the adjacent hotel lobby. I have never experienced something like this. There are much better options for dining in NOLA.
Later in the evening. Food was delicious— house gumbo. Potk chops
Kenneth made our brunch so much fun!
Excellent food and service. Attention to detail and attitude of the staff was a plus. Great for date night or a special occasion. The rooftop bar after an amazing dinner was an added bonus. The next time I am in town, I definitely plan to visit again.
We are delighted to here that we went above and beyond in providing you with the best expereince possible.
Incredible experience! Great food AND service. Would definitely return.
We are elated that you thoroughly enjoyed your dining experience.
Thank you for the glowing review. We look forward to hosting you again.
Food was great and came out quickly. It was very loud though.
Thank you for the great feedback.
Service was horrendous. Took over two hours to receive our meal.
The food was great, for the most part. My husband’s steak was way over cooked but they quickly brought him a new one. My food and the drinks were delicious. However, the service was super slow. The waiter was very nice but it took about 10 minutes before he came over to take drink orders and it took well over 30 minutes to get food after ordering. If they can be quicker and more attentive, this would be an amazing spot.
Thank you for you comments and concerns. We will engage with our team
Food was amazing - everything that our party of 6 ordered was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I had the drum and I think it might have been the best piece of fish I’ve had in a restaurant. The service was friendly, at tentative, and mindful that we were trying to get to a show after dinner. The architecture in this old Public Service building is stunning. The only drawback is the acoustics - because of the high ceilings and open space connected to the bar, it was very loud. Despite that, I’d go back again ... and again.
Great!!! Will return!!!
I had a great experience at Public Service for an early dinner before going to a show at a nearby venue. Starting with the spinach bisque, I was happy with everything except for the slightly overcooked cookie dessert. The bique included three oysters which were juicy and flavorful. The gulf catch of the day was drum. I wasn't a fan of the stewed tomato, but the sauce and broccolini were delicious. My favorite of the night: mac n cheese. The noodles were succulent, cheesy and fresh. Julian, my server, was attentive and helpful. I'll return.
We went on Christmas for what was advertised as a Réveillon dinner, but turned out the website hadn't been updated and there was no Réveillon dinner. It was disappointing, but we decided to eat there anyway since it was 6pm on Christmas and likely no other places would be able to accommodate us. I ordered the pork chop and the size was huge (probably 2.5 servings) and the slice was very thick. This left the meat rubbery and chewy...not the "fall off the bone, melt in your mouth" I was expecting. The caramelized sweet potatoes were VERY good, but the pork chop left a bad taste in my mouth. In general, I don't complain about the food to the server/chef (not my personality), but in this case, I wish I had.
Great food. Sous chef came from the kitchen to say hello and ask about our meal. Coffee machine was broken so the waiter went to the hotel to make our cups. Manager was also attentive. All around great service.
Beautiful atmosphere. Inviting menu. Friendly Chef. Perfectly prepared dishes. Definitely revisiting
The food and service were wonderful. The staff was phenomenal, and the chef came to our table to check on us. It was a little noisy, but that was my only small complaint. We were still able to talk. I would definitely recommend this place, and I will go there again.
There was an incredibly long wait time after starters and before receiving entrees.
Had to wait at the bar even though we had a reservation. We were told that the kitchen was “backed up”. Then the bartender poured my wife’s drink but forgot to serve it to her until we asked her. We were seated and then had to wait over an hour before we got our meals. My wife’s steak was overcooked and my Drum was some other fish. It took so long that I cancelled dessert. Need to get their act together. Food was nothing special.
We waited an hour to get our food on Christmas Eve, and the place was only half full. When the food did come, only the entrees arrive. They apparently forgot our soups and salads.
This may have been an off night due to the holiday but the service was just okay and the pricing of the menu was higher than it should have been.
Poor management. Food is delicious and presentation wonderful
The food was absolutely delicious, our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and each one of his suggestions was perfect. Had the chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream on top that was incredible. Will definitely go back !
We find ourselves returning to PS anytime we are in this part of the downtown area. The team truly seems to enjoy what they do and they create an atmosphere we enjoy being part of. Add to that the spectacular food, and it’s just hard to beat.
We had Thanksgiving dinner here. The ambience is great. The food was good, not the best ever, but good. The service was just ok. The pecan pie and caramel apple tartlet were both delicious! We bought an extra to go.
Went to Saints game. Great Bloody Mary’s and I had the braised beef hash which was excellent. Not crowded either which is hard to find a good restaurant to eat at during game day.
Wonderful service and the option to watch the Saints game or enjoy Sunday Jazz brunch, depending on the timing of the game. Beautiful finishes and the tables are generously spaced so you don't feel crowded.
Great experience and pleasantly surprised especially considering it’s a hotel restaurant. Fabulous service and servers. Had a wonderful evening!
Service was very slow and challenging.
Looked forward to a nice evening, but things just weren’t what we expected. Beautiful dining area, well appointed Live music in lobby competed with piped in music in the dining room. Throughout the time we were there. Waiter took our menus when he took our drink order and we had to request them back to review so we could order. Warm bread arrived with a covered butter dish. Unfortunately the butter dish was empty and by the time waiter checked and returned with butter, the bread was cool. Food was okay, but not outstanding. Won’t bother going back again.
We had an amazing waiter. He was super helpful with ordering and went above and beyond with his attentiveness. Made the whole experience an unforgettable one. The food was delicious.
outstanding service and food. really enjoyed. Beautiful restaurant
The food as always was great. Great location. Beautiful Decor. The young man who was my server was knowledgable, courteous, and accommodating.
The service was slow
A good hotel restaurant. The smoked fish dip was amazing but comes with basic crackers and the entrees, whole good, were a smidge over priced for what you get. The only real compliant I had was when ordering a beer. The language barrier with my server was problem when I was asking him what beers came in bottles after they tried to serve canned beer.
The place was fairly empty for prime time on a Friday night so it makes it a good place to have a quiet dinner. Just bring a pillow if you sit in a round booth or back will kill you.
Food took over 45 minutes to get. Once we got our food it was cold. One girl with us didn’t get her food because they told her they ran out.
Service is terrible! Food just OK
