Service was excellent. Food was pretty good. Only negative is that the menu is extremely limited. Only remember 1 appetizer option that didn’t come with dairy (cream or cheese) and that was pork ribs.
Great food and great experience. Bree (sp?) was our server and she was amazing! Highly recommend
There is no separation between the bar and restaurant, and the loud band in the bar meant members of our party couldn’t hear one another. The food was good, but was served out of order. First came one guest’s hot entree; several minutes later, entree salads for others; another several minutes later, the shared appetizer; and last, the salad for the guest with the hot entree. Just not at all what we’d hoped for as a pre-theater dinner for a family holiday celebration.
It was New Years Eve. They had a special menu which wasn’t all that great. The special menu was also not given or posted anywhere on social media in advance so customers literally had no idea what they were getting into. Not that the food was bad. It was Ok but the selections were lacking. Not a single beef or pork option. A beef Wellington or center cut pork loin chop would have gotten a better rating from me, even if it didn’t taste good. Personally I would have preferred to choose off of the regular menu. There weren’t even enough customers there to warrant a special NYE menu. I will try it again, but I’m going on a day where I can choose what I want. Last note… my specialty cocktail for the evening was basically gin, pickle juice & pickled green beans.
Unfriendly waitress, cold vegetables, no tablecloth, no reference to New Year‘s Eve in the restaurant, disappointing ambience
Terrible experience. We made a reservation for New Year’s Eve dinner and were assigned a table that was very uncomfortable for 3 people. We requested a change and were explained that all tables were reserved. Lie: during the entire night most tables were empty. The service was awful: we had to request silverware and were given plastic forks and knives. There were no spoons for the soup and had to request them too. We were brought bread and butter (late, after the first course) and we had to ask again for plates for the bread. I guess we were expected to spread the butter on the table? Who knows. The wine bottle was already opened and served without having the chance to taste it. The tomato soup was bottled tomato sauce just heated up. The servers were amateur and clueless. At this point, we just gave up. The manager was rude and the maître d (if he could be called so) had an arrogant attitude. In summary, stay away from this place. You just will be disappointed over and over. $450 thrown down the toilet. Shameful.
The food and atmosphere are great here for a quick breakfast with friends/family or for a boozy sit down brunch. I've been twice and loved both the Western Omelet and the Crab Avocado Toast. I'm looking forward to trying the Smoothie Bowl and will certainly be back.
Gran lugar, buena atención, excelente para desayunar.
Initially I though this was going to be another breakfast place in a hotel. I was absolutely wrong! The restaurant is located in the swanky Nopsi hotel (even stamped on their waffles!) the hotel is located in the business district of the city and is close to the French quarter. The high ceilings and light finishes give an ambiance full of daylighting. The warm tones of the brick contrast and gives a sense of warmth. The food is exquisite and the service was great! I had the pont chartraine Benedict and the seafood is so fresh and tasty topped with a shrimp creole sauce. The Nopsi branded waffle is perfect! I love the fact that they branded the name of the hotel and put the berries in the waffle pockets! It is crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked but the inside is so soft and fluffy. The reservation was so easy to make so definitely a great breakfast spot!
I only had water. The menu was very limited and consists of pork. I ended up going to another restaurant around the corner.
Service was really bad and food was average. Don’t recommend unless you’re staying at the hotel or it’s the only reservation you can get. Pretty limited menu too
Excellent service. Great food. This was our go to place for dinner and we were disappointed when they had to close for Covid-19. Very glad they are back. Will definitely be back.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the place is pretty; the food was bland esp the Brussels sprouts. We had red fish and it was just fish and terribly disappointing.
The restaurant was visually appealing and clean. The waitress/bartender was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The boudin balls and mushroom soup was very very good. We were very disappointed with the entree selections on the dinner menu. It was very limited and there was nothing exciting about it. We settled on the turkey sandwich and Cobb salad. I’ve had better at subway. We should have stopped with the appetizer and soup.
Visiting from Memphis, TN to meet up with friends. We had a great time.
Public Service needs a PSA. Don't go. I think the concept is good, but I feel for their staffing issues- amid these CoVid days. Food isn't up to par especially with the service lacking. Hope they can get it right.
Great atmosphere and fun experience. Food was terrific. We appreciated the service as well.
This a hotel restaurant with a menu of standby room service items. Service was cordial but slow.
Enjoy food and service
Our server was as so good!
solid hotel food. service attentive and drinks were great.
The food is okay but not worth the price. The atmosphere could be good but it was basically empty on a Friday night.
It was okay. Didn't have enough staff. Food was decent
I felt this wasn’t true “New Orleans” food/recipes. It tasted like what people nor from NoLA feel creole food should be.
Mother’s Day Brunch
There was no one else at the restaurant. There was no sparkling water. Food took too long considering the empty restaurant. The food was mediocre at best.
Great server, very accommodating. Now on to the food. Serving a 20 oz draft in a plastic cup for table service, please invest in or use glassware. Only one slice of toast w/ breakfast, normally served two slices cut diagonally. The oatmeal was bland and dry. Consider cinnamon/banana etc.”-
They weren’t even open for our reservation.
I booked here for Easter brunch for my family with 2 adults and 2 kids. They did nothing to make it special for Easter. The restaurant was mostly empty, not the vibe I was expecting.
We made a reservation for 11:30 and arrived a few minutes early. There were a couple of people behind the bar and another employee running around the restaurant. We waited at the reception stand for several minutes and were never acknowledged with a simple “be right with you.” (FWIW: We understand when employees are busy. You can only do so much at once. But good customer service requires employees to at least acknowledge their customers).
Finally, another person came in. He was an employee and ask in a hurry. But we were ready to leave at this point, so we got his attention and told him we had a reservation. He said, “I’m sorry, we are so short-staffed today.” That was a bad sign, and we said as much. We asked them to cancel the reservation and decided to go elsewhere.
They never canceled the reservation, nor could I cancel on Open Table at that point. And because I couldn’t cancel on Open Table, I was unable to make a new reservation elsewhere. We had chosen to go to MoPho, a place I’ve wanted to go to before. There were tables available for every seating, so we just drive there. In that 30 minutes, all their tables booked up. We eventually ate at another nice restaurant, but thanks to the Public Service experience, we not only didn’t eat at Public Service (we’d been there a few times before, just not for brunch), but we also were unable to dine at MoPho.
I assume that Open Table members get rated for whether or not they show up for their reservation. We have never been a no-show, until now. Even though we showed up and couldn’t get service.
Note to Public Service: If you cannot handle the workload with the staff you have, face the fact that you will have to serve fewer people. If you are having trouble hiring quality people, increase their wages.
Soup was very salty!! Service very slow
We had a less-than-great experience here. We chose Public Service because we had two teens with us and the menu looked varied enough to please everyone and the space is dramatic and impressive from the street. After some initial confusion about where to check in and where we would be sitting, we were a little rattled. The fact that only a few other tables were occupied when Open Table said there was limited availability was also confusing. For a while, we actually questioned whether the restaurant was even open. We had also read about the open show kitchen with counter seating, but there was no activity whatsoever in that area. The waitress later told us they didn't use it. We did eventually get settled and ordered dinner, but things did not improve. Of the starter and four entrees we ordered, only the starter - boudin balls - was close to restaurant quality. Everything else was either very basic in quality and presentation or downright bad. The pizza was the worst of all. It was on a dense flavorless crust that was almost certainly from a package of frozen pre-made crusts. It was not fully cooked through. The toppings were basic. It was worse than a lot of frozen grocery store pizzas I have had in the past. Our daughter had a hamburger that was not special in any way. It was what anybody could pull off in their kitchen on a weeknight with ingredients on hand. The overall impression was of average bar food that someone in the back was just heating up. The one bright spot was the waitress who was friendly and worked hard running around as the only waitress working the dining room and as one of the two bartenders. I'm hoping that this was all just pandemic-related and temporary. The location in the heart of the CBD and the impressive room may be enough to justify trying them again later, but only after reading some positive reviews! Our experience was not completely terrible, but it was not worth what we spent or the use of one of our dinner nights in New Orleans.
Went around 2 pm on a weekday.
Very nice venue for Breakfast if you are in the Central Business District of New Orleans
Really great pizza!!
Average at best
The food was phenomenal and the Sangria I recommend to EVERYONE! It all was delicious and a lovely Valentine's lunch.
This beautiful restaurant is located in the NOPSI Hotel. We enjoyed brunch during Covid Mardi Gras so it was unusually quiet. Our server was also the bartender and did a wonderful job. Drinks were great and food was excellent. We hope to try lunch or dinner another time. Covid precautions were excellent. This would be a great place for a date or special occasion.
We had our Christmas dinner 2020 here. The food was excellent! Beyond our expectations! The smoked salmon appetizer was the best on the menu but everything was so tasty and great. Portions we hearty as we could not finish everything. We had great service with refilling our water and the server checking on us. We were blown away by everything. It wasn’t super busy, seated right away. We thought perhaps because I’d Christmas and limited restaurants were open we would have to wait, well we did n’t. The styling of the restaurant was so sophisticated but comfortable. We are so happy to have spent our Christmas there! Highly recommend!!!! Thank you PS!
Julian was excellent! The food was prepared perfectly and we had a nice time as usual at Public Service!
