It's a great place for a quick bite to eat with yummy drinks and excellent prices. A new neighborhood gem.
I ate at Public School while on vacation with my mother and sister, and the waitress was so kind and worked to our individual needs! She gave us personal recommendations off the menu, was attentive to any extra needs we had, and was accommodating of our busy schedule! The food was FANTASTIC. The atmosphere was awesome and I definitely hope to return!
Absolutely amazing and food with great
My husband and I came here before we stopped at a concert in Dallas. We had to change our drink order 4 times since the bar wasn’t stocked and we had to tell our server how to make two of the cocktails. We finally got our meals which we’re mediocre at best and are half way through and we finally get our drinks. The server came back a 2nd time to ask if our drinks were okay, asked a third time to make sure, then walked away and gave the “bar tender” a thumbs up since he obviously didn’t know how to make any classic drinks.
I asked for a medium steak and it was over cooked and chewy. We laid $100 for two bad meals and 2 had drinks. I don’t understand how this place has good reviews. Take your business elsewhere. I sure will be!
Great food attentive service. I ended up sitting at the bar. My mimosa and food (i ordered chicken and waffles) was beyond good.
Service took our order and never came back to the table. Did not get the chance to order more food or drinks. We went for brunch with the purpose of hanging out and having some drinks and we had to go to another place that had service. This was not covid problem, there were plenty of wait staff. The manager and our server just choose to hangout in the beverage station and food window. We could see them the entire time. Food was good. I did look at a menu online on their website that had more food options than what was a available. It was a pretty limited brunch menu.
The shrimp and grits were amazing! The impossible breakfast sandwich was equally good. The service was great! I can’t wait to go back for brunch.
I ordered three different things and all were 86'ed and we were the only people in the dining room at 4:30pm
Love this restaurant, but ran into some disappointing service during this visit. We had to go to the bar to get refills on our drinks at one point, and the person refilling the drinks was our waitress. Food also took 20+ minutes to arrive at the table following order submission. I know they’re dealing with staffing issues like everyone else, but this still fell very short of modified expectations.
My favorite place to get a PB&J hamburger! Service was outstanding!
Such a cool concept absolutely loved it and the food was amazing!
Great service and food. Was disappointed brunch is only on weekends.
Service was outstanding. Eddie, our server took care of us. Had a great experience although the flies outside wanted to enjoy the food, just as much as I did.
I had the crispy fish tacos which weren’t very crispy; the fish was mushy and the taco shells were leathery but the fries were excellent. My friend had elote shrimp which she said was fantastic.
Service was exceptionally friendly and incredibly slow. Every time we need something we had to look around for a summon the waitress.
Lastly, inside the restaurant was hotter than outside so no bueno on the ambiance though it was decorated nicely and clean.
Lots of stuff not available on the menu. Same for drinks. Not a great experience.
Date night with hubby.
The place was nice, the staff were nice and the seating was comfortable. The food was the true downfall. I feel it was truly overpriced especially when a side of the Mac and cheese is $8.50 but taste like hamburger helper. I had the the Korean watermelon bbq the portion sizes are horrible. To pay $24.50 for a single rib and the smallest chicken quarter you can imagine is ridiculous. Would I return again probably not. Drinks were good though. The watermelon mojito is tasty.
I really enjoyed Public school 214. It was my first time visiting. I will definitely return.
Food was just ok and the server was inattentive during our visit and got everyone’s order wrong.
Food wasn’t prepared correct, service was very slow.
Went for casual drinks on the patio. Somewhat strange food, decent drinks.
Found a new spot we really, really like for business lunches. Cool area of Dallas, and the Public School ambiance was so very fun. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. She also had a very big smile, which I always appreciate. The Hot Mess sandwich was off the chain, and we share the Churros and Nutella Ice Cream Sandwich for dessert!
At Public School, the label Happy Hour as "Recess!" I cant wait for recess!!
The service was so bad!! The ac was out and it was warm inside.
The food and service were great!
The restaurant was hot!!!
Nothing really great about Brunch. Cleanliness can improve.
Awesome experience. It was a little warm in the restaurant though.
Took my spry youngish 80 year old mom here. Very cool place, location is excellent. Dinner on a Saturday evening. Made a reservation for 715p. No issues with reservation, but probably didnt need one.
Food choices were broad and interesting. I had a Caesar salad w chicken, my mom had the fish and chips.
It was good. Drinks were good. The waitress helped by having a paper menu for my mom in addition to the QR digital phone menu. Waitress was probably overly attentive. Cleared my mom's plate before I was finished, picked up the paid bill before we left and seemed in a bit of a hurry.
I'll go back, try something different - the chicken for the salad was a bit chewy.
This would be a good place to watch a sporting event, sit and eat/drink on patio, etc. Good, not great, but good.
Poke nachos were very good and pizza as well. Server Barak was excellent.
This was by far the worst dining experience I’ve had in Dallas. There were bugs all over the dining room, the Brussel sprouts tasted like gasoline, and we never saw our waiter unless we asked the staff to grab his attention. Will not be dining here again.
The service was absolutely awful, but in their defense I guess it was a holiday weekend? Except the restaurant was empty...not sure how that works.
Items on already limited menu were not available.
Food and service was both outstanding. The Ahi Tuna Poke Nachos are a must try. It was so delicious. The beer selection is good too.
Trying to get reservations was a nightmare! However the manger stepped up and fixed the situation.
But once we were there the service was sub par at best! The food tasted like it had been sitting out for hours! Ingredients looked like pale imitations to what they have in the past. I would have excused this if being Mother’s Day and all, and if they were busy! However that was not the case the dining room looked like a ghost town!
Food and service was good!
Don’t recommend. Service was slow although not crowded. Took 20 minutes to get our drinks after being seated. Atmosphere seemed off. Food was disappointing. Burger ok. Ahí bowl was gross. More of a salad than a bowl. Kind of like a bad TGI Fridays with cooler decor.
Food was terrible, place was boring, and for the mimosas are served in regular glasses!
Went with a friend for brunch. Visit was great. We had a wonderful waitress, the food was good & the restaurant was socially distanced.
It’s all in the name. The only thing distinguishing this meal from a public school cafeteria was the Bloody Mary. 10/10 do NOT recommend. Service from hostess to waitress was also subpar.
Public School 214 is a very cool restaurant for families or a quick bite to eat with friends. The food was great and although they were short staff the day that we went, Jose still gave us pretty good service. And the location is nice, if you want to take a walk in the area. We will definitely visit again :)
The food is always fresh, comes to the table hot, ingredients are first grade with a good variety of choices. The staff is friendly, courteous, and professional.
