Public School - Culver City
I have been to Public School on a few separate occasions. It is consistently good...food, wait staff, location and ambiance are always enjoyed by all in the party.
Overall good food and service.
I made a reservation prior and chose outdoor but we were seated indoor. We had a server to start and as soon as we placed our order we were given to someone else even though our server was still in our area. The food was good and came out quickly. We played board games too so that was fun. The real reason for my less than 5 star score is that the service once we had our food became very very slow (there were plenty of open tables around so it wasn’t too busy), it took a long time for anyone to come around, we actually had to get up to approach someone eventually.
We sat out front which was nice. Fried Chicken Sandwich was delicious. I'll go back.
I have been to Public School several times and normally enjoy it but this time the food was subpar. My chicken and waffles only came with a couple of very dry chicken strips and waffles. There was some congealed gravy and no maple syrup or hot sauce. It was flavorless and just plain bad. My friend's chicken salad faired no better and even copious amounts of salt could not save it. Overall a very poor dining experience although our waiter was nice and attentive.
The food at Public School is not very good. The piece of fried chicken was a bit dry and far too fat for the sandwich bun. The meat should have been flatter and the bun stronger, as the sandwich basically fell apart at the first bite. The cole slaw was bland except for being over-peppered. The pieces of cabbage tasted like wet leaves from the forest. The strawberry shortcake was not actually a shortcake at all, but had the consistency of a scone. It was very chewy when it should have been light and fluffy. Overall a really terrible bunch of food to eat. I don’t drink alcohol, so perhaps I would have liked the food after a few drinks.
Being a native New Yorker, Public School 310 is a place I frequent when visiting my son who lives in Culver City. It is a noisy fun neighborhood hangout. This past visit was no different, the place was hopping. So much so that we were served our entree minutes after our appetizers were served. When we informed the food runner that, very obviously we were still enjoying our appetizers and weren’t ready for our dinner, he proceeded to place the dishes on the table and walk away.🤦🏻♀️
When we expressed our feelings to our server she was apologetic and accepted responsibility for the mix up. She even brought the manager over, who tried to right this with dessert. Unfortunately all said and done we were on our way out the door in 40 minuets. I’m sorry but if I wanted fast food I would have gone to in and out burger😎
Good service and good food
I usually love Public School. But the food during this visit made me ill and we waited over an hour just to get it. I'm not sure what's happening at that restaurant but I don't think I'll be back.
It was great. Service was timely and attentive. Appys were tasty especially the poke.
I ordered the crispy chicken salad and it was delicious. The vibe was energetic and young. Very busy. A little hard to get a water refill, but overall i would go back again.
Great dinner as always. However, they no longer carry maple syrup for the chicken and waffles so a bit disappointing. And there were only two pieces of chicken so the portion seemed smaller than prior times.
Service is so slow.
The service and food was great!
The salmon was very good and the price was reasonable. The restaurant is very loud so may be better suited for younger crowd.
Great food and drinks. Best fish and chips I've ever had!
Good food. Ordered the shrimp and grits. Horrible service.
It's a shame we couldn't get at least a table inside (whereas we asked for a booth table). It's also a shame we had to either leave or change table at some point (as there was a party outside).
Food was great for the rest.
Public School is a nice spot to stop in and have a craft beer and nosh with friends. The menus simple but not basic.
Great evening, thanks again
Excellent food and service from waiter Ryan who was very attentive, timely, and offered up some great menu recommendations!
fish and chips : VERY greasy fish- couldn’t be hand-held (fell apart). Fries, burger, and appetizers (hummus, tots) were excellent .
Really terrific place for eastside and westside friends to meet. Parking appears challenging until you find the parking lot around the corner. 1 hour free. This restaurant does not validate for extra hours so the charge was a reasonable $3. Great selection of craft beers. Very nice people. A bit too noisy for us on a Saturday night but we'd try it again midweek.
Loaded with excited professionals, mostly in the entertainment industry from nearby Sony. Lots of them enjoyed the happy hour, which we skipped for a nicer sit down experience inside. Atmosphere is fun and vibrant, and the food is really great.
Came for Date Night! Definitely made an impression. Place to go!!!!!
Classy, AMAZING FOOD and BEER!, ambience and great team!
everyone there is so Cool and Friendly.
This date will definetly get you past the friend zone!
Too loud for my taste, food was very good, Ser ice was good also
Was reuniting with an old friend and wanted a spot to casually hang. Really great staff. Delicious food. Overall a good day!
Went to Public School to catch up with a friend from college. Great beer selection and good food. The crispy chicken sandwich was excellent as were the cheese and bacon stuffed Tatar tots.
I went with a few girl friends for dinner. Service was great! Food was delicious and unique! We had a great time and can't wait to go back for brunch.
Our waiter Evan was great, in spite of him being busy. Tonight was our first time, but we will definitely be back!
