Great place, wonderful food. My main complaint is that they are closing.
Always a pleasure here. Damn shame that they're being forced to close.
Sorry to see Public go. Top restaurant in all of NYC.
Love this spot- it covers the whole spectrum in a dining experience. You could go there for a casual brunch, a date, a special occasion- and fit it to any event. We went for a blowout knowing that they'll be closed down for the next 2 years and enjoyed the tasting menu. Instead of just falling off- knowing that there was only a week to go- they had fun experimental dishes like the seafood trio with lobster, himachi and fried oyster. The giant prawn was amazing- an entree in its own right- almost perfectly cooked. Their cocktails are unexpected- my Dirty Martini was a hot pink surprise with a pickled quail egg that infused every sip... Service was great, with some odd timing, but I'm used to Brooklyn service so compared to that: out of the park! Whenever a great city restaurant closes, I can only look at the gap it left and wish I had gone more- nothing new there, but certainly glad I got in before the doors closed at Public!
Beautiful experience. Staff very sympathic and good advices. So sad that it was one of the last shift. The restaurant closes soon.
We are sad that this wonderful place will close on June 2, 2017.
Our last hurrah was another wonderful dinner. We'll miss you!
Sorry the Public will be closing soon!
Thanks please let us know your plans!
Amazing food and excellent service. So sad its closing
Definitely a younger vibe. Fairly loud music and dark. Food was very good.
La hamburguesa "imposible" totalmente vegetal excelente y la tostada de salmón con huevos poché muy buena. El postre también
Excelente. Tarta de queso con helado de remolacha.
My friends and I love the Public, and we were sincerely put out to hear that they would be closing this summer. We immediately made brunch and dinner reservations for their last months.
The food has always been wonderful, both creative and satisfying, as well as being unique items that you can't find just anywhere. But most of all, the atmosphere and service has always been stupendous. It' has a vibe that's classy yet also completely chill and no-pressure. We love getting the wine option with the tasting menu, because we always feel that our experience and knowledge is being expanded but never in a way that makes us feel lost or condescended to. For our last dinner, we ended up being there for five hours from start to finish, with courses and wine arriving with perfect timing that never left us either bereft or rushed. And honestly, for what we got, both food/wine and time/experience-wise, the value was spectacular.
our waitress left before we were done. There was an error and the manager corrected it.
But a red headed gentlemen that took over our waitress was very rude
We sat by the open area. Perfect weather with a nice breeze. The waiter was great and the food was excellent. But I heard they are closing in 30 days. So hurry up and make a reservation and eat there before they're gone for good. You won't be disappointed.
Went for date night. Food was mediocre, felt overpriced. Service incredibly subpar. Steak was too rare and server never checked on food or cared to make sure it was prepared as requested. Not deserving of its Michelin star.
Lovely place, great food, but terrible service -- the waiter never told us anything about the menu and then actually laughed in my face when I asked him details about some specific dishes, saying: "We have a Michelin Star! It's all good!" I'm sure this was a one-time event, and they were very busy, so it's not completely unforgivable, but it the service really dampened what could've otherwise been a solid experience.
I was super disappointed with our evening at Public. The space is amazing - albeit loud on a Friday night. The wait staff was pleasant but not at all attentive and "did their job" without being friendly. The food was boring and in very small portions. Luckily it was not expensive.
I could cook this or better at home with one hand. I won't be back anytime soon.
Public was my first job when I moved to New York. It is special to me. To this day I still think it has the dopest, sexiest and most unique ambience. This restaurant will be missed, I definitely recommend going before they close!
Have loved this restaurant for years and am so sad it is closing.
Last time before it closes. One of our favorites
I love this restaurant and have been there a dozen times. Service last night was so bad, I am no longer sad it is closing. Although Jose is wonderful!
Public use to be my go to late night and brunch stop. I just had Easter brunch here and it was better than I remembered. We had a reservation for 5 and was running really late, they couldn't have been nicer. The service was warm, friendly and courteous. The food as good as very. The dreamy and luscious Turkish eggs. The kimchi waffle with eggs was just plain yummy. Go for an overall good Soho dinning experience before they close...
Luke is a wonderful restaurant and I am so glad they are closing.
The music was way too loud.
The food was nothing out of the ordinary.
I've been there before and have had a great experience. But not this time.
We did the 5 course tasting menu and it was amazing. The atmosphere was great - wonderful music selection to set the vibe.
Disappointing meal & service
Inspiring atmosphere, outstanding food and great cocktails.
My boyfriend and I went on a much needed date night. We had a gift certificate for PUBLIC and we were saving it for the perfect occasion! The food was absolutely delicious, each bite was a burst of flavor sensation. The service was fantastic from the host to busses to serve and the highlight of our night was the sommelier, Jose! He was extremely knowledgeable and experienced with wine, and more importantly we enjoy talking with him because he was such a nice, interesting guy! I highly recommend this restaurant and please order some wine and ask to speak with Jose!
The food is stellar. Try the tasting menu. Interesting flavors and beautifully cooked and presented.
Wonderful experience!!! :)
Amazing brunch with unusual menu options. Tea smoked salmon, turkish eggs were exceptional.
Never had a bad meal at Public -- everything is interesting, worth eating, and worth talking to others about...which is rare. Great for vegetarians, as many items are some exotic/delicious take on vegetables.
An iconic space and creative, yet comforting dining experience. My bad for not returning more often over the years. Never disappointed.
Loud music makes an otherwise energetic volume almost unbearable. Food, which I have enjoyed in the past, was all a little fussy and seemed all to sweet
Sad to see that this Michelin 1 star will be closing in June. Get there while you can for an exceptional experience.
Very attentive staff and nice lowkey spot. Had the Impossible burger: it was great. A little pricy but I guess not by Manhattan standards.
The food was fantastic and the service great. My only issue was that when I made the reservation I put in the notes that I and my companion wanted the tasting menu, and that we are vegetarians. When the restaurant called to confirm the reservation I reiterated what was in the notes and the person said "Yeah, that's no problem, we can do that for you." But, when I got to the restaurant, I was told that the tasting menus were gone and that they don't have a vegetarian tasting menu anyway.
The service was great the menus just tries too hard.
Pleasant service and ambiance. Menu sounds amazing, then it comes and everything is incredibly under seasoned (I do not like salt aside from a bit to bring out flavor, so that is saying a lot from me. But also includes just hitting with pepper, or a pinch of red chili to bring out flavor), blah, and under whelming. I never ask for salt and pepper, but did here. The waiter brought the mills, and deposited on the table. How about offering?
I'd go for a drink or appetizer but save my money and palate for anything else
One of the best of the city. No doubt about it. Extraordinary drinks, the bar tender awsome, the best oysters in the world. Its just fantastic
