With access direct from Church Street, enter into a comfortable freestanding cocktail space leading through to the intimate dining area.
Upstairs resides the function room and one of Richmond best kept secrets - Public House's terrace; with its own bar, tables for two up to parties of eight, luscious green garden beds and retractable roof this gem has become a staple of Richmond's night life year round.
Made my birthday a really great experience for everyone. Cocktails were fantastic and food service was awesome! Would definitely recommend!
Steak night on Tuesdays excellent value and service was quick.
They were closed!! Why was I able to make a booking AND confirm it?? So disappointing.
Great food on steak night but they tried to charge us twice for drinks, and forgot our youngest son's slider order twice. Which meant he ate after everyone had finished; being 7 we filled him up on chips but this is not ideal.
I was never made aware that the food served in the outdoor area was only tapas and the tables were only small drink tables. I was expecting the full menu with room for everyone to eat. I was also advised by the bar staff that the dance floor would open at 10pm but it didn't open until after midnight. Once the dance floor opened all my friends went home because there were too many people crammed into such a small venue and no one could move. Also most of my friends left without saying goodbye because there is no reception in your downstairs area and they couldn't find me in the sea of people.
There were (10) of us - 4 adults and 6kids from 4 to 14. Everyone had a great meal (best steak night in Melb) and for the little ones ... they devoured the Beef sliders and fries. Well done team!
Great local pub - nothing more to say.
Except the words of a song from 1982.
Ooh I've been to Georgia and California, oh, anywhere I could run
Took the hand of a preacher man and we made love in the sun
But I ran out of places and friendly faces because I had to be free
I've been to paradise, but I've never been to me
Please lady, please, lady, don't just walk away
Cause I have this need to tell you why I'm all alone today
I can see so much of me still living in your eyes
Won't you share a part of a weary heart that has lived a million lies
Oh I've been to Nice and the isle of Greece
While I sipped champagne on a yacht
I moved like Harlow in Monte Carlo and showed 'em what I've got
I've been undressed by kings and I've seen some things
That a woman ain't s'posed to see
I've been to paradise, but I've never been to me.
I have had an amazing time here! I have also had a birthday on the roof top last year and the team were soo friendly and professional! I would recommend this place to everyone! I definitely will be returning very soon!
Venue was ok. Food was good.
But. Having booked an outdoor table it was a pity we were not told on arrival that food service to the outdoor tables stopped at 9pm, before we had ordered our main course.
We then moved downstairs so we could eat, but were again told that we must mov as soon as we finished our main course because the tables were packed away for the DJ to start at 10pm.
So not a very relaxing evening meal and catch up with friends.
Whether you're an inner city couple or family, pub 'specials' are on your radar. Pizza, parma and/or steak nights .. it is always a discussion point amongst friends when you find a gem. The Public House has made that list with their awesome Tuesday night steak deal. Accompanied with a beer & house wine special before 7pm ... all I can say is that our party of locals (4 adults, 4 kids) found the service exemplary, the meals delicious and will vote with our feet by returning as frequently as our busy lives allow. Top work guys!
Has gone downhill from previous visits. Food was ok but overpriced for what was presented. Glasses not cleaned properly. Combine this with no areas for quite dining and it’s a fail on the night. Won’t be rushing back.
Caught up with family before Christmas
