Wonderful meal! Humis and veggies for an appetizer and the Fish Tacos for dinner were perfect and so flavorful!
The boozy shakes were delicious! Excellent service - Our waitress was so friendly and helpful!
Had a large party with some out of town guests. We all enjoyed the food and drinks. This place is great for a large party to be able to sit comfortably and enjoy each others company!
After theatre dining. Everything was good.
Our reservation was ready and we were seated right away. Food was very good (I would highly recommend the Hangover Helper drink!). Service was mediocre. Our waitress seemed busy but also did not go out of her way to check in very often.
My table wasn't ready when I arrived on time and I received attitude from hostess when I asked about status. My juice had ice in it for some reason, which I have never seen before. The food was ok and wasn't anything worth recommending to other friends and family. The ambiance was extremely loud and didn't live up to expectations.
The food was really good! It was a busy Friday night, but the service was not good. We waited for drinks, our ticket, boxes, and had to go to the bar to have a bartender look for our waitress. Music was good too! Will be back, but hoping our service is better for dinner.
Very friendly front staff greeted us and helped us get seated promptly.
Our waitress was great, and she stopped by several times to make sure we were good.
Food was very good: mac-n-cheese, wings and fish tacos were all fantastic. The quesadilla was a little soggy but still tasted ok.
The noise level was high, which is expected on a Friday evening during happy hour.
Atmosphere was cool, and the location can’t be beat.
4 out of 5 stars.
Definitely a great stop and a great value when you are downtown.
Great atmosphere but yikes food quality below average. Fish and chips - awful; fish tacos - no flavor; Brussels sprouts - way too much dressing. Maybe just a fun cocktail venue?
Went for the boozy milkshakes.....looked awesome, not very good. Crazy loud and impossible to have a conversation.
Most of the seating was blocked off for private parties so we were seated at a high top table near the bar. The hostess had to get bar patrons who missed the reserved signs out our seats before we could be seated. Service was a little slow but the crowd size was pretty big so we took that into account. Food was very delicious, drinks were cold. If you want to be able to hear the person sitting beside you, don’t go on a Thursday night during happy hour. Overall, it was a fairly enjoyable experience.
How does a brew pub with taps at the table have frozen pipes to the tap on first snowfall? Do they now not serve beer at the table till April? Inconceivable if you ask me.
The service was fine, the food was good but it was really inconvenient for billing. There were 6 of us who all needed separate checks and they could not split it up and it made it inconvenient for us to try to split ourselves.
The only thing that was odd was when I checked in I was told the table was booked for 8:15. I was confused at first thinking we couldn’t get the table until 8:15 when my reservation was at 6:45. Then I realized she meant we needed to be finished by then. I have never been told something like that at a restaurant. Other than that the food was very good and our waitress was outstanding!! She gave great recommendations and excellent service!!
Great food! I loved my burger and some of the best fries I’ve had! My husband loved his fish and chips. We also loved our shareable drink! Was delicious and the presentation was amusing!
Food not worth the price. Waitress had an attitude
Fun atmosphere Service was great. Good signature cocktails
Grabbed a bite to eat here before the Madonna Madame X concert. The guy at the door is intimidating and not sure what purpose he serves. Arrived early but were told we had to wait for our reservation to be seated even though there were open tables and they appeared to be seating people who were walking in without reservations. The hostess was expressionless - not warm and inviting. Went to the bar on the west side of the establishment and the female bartender was not friendly. Ordered 2 draft beers (they were out of the one we wanted and the second one my friend ordered) which were priced at $7 each on the menu and got $3 back in change. Being from Wisconsin, we didn’t know that tax is charged on bar tabs but she still kept money from the change ($1.43). For dinner I had pork carnitas tacos and my friend had the pot roast sandwich. They were good although the 3 tacos were small - about 4 bites each. Our waitress was attentive. And even though the place was quite busy, we got our food pretty quickly and were done in about an hour. Nothing special so probably wouldn’t make a big effort to return.
Typical sports bar with american food. lots of screens for games.
I live two blocks away and forget about Public House as there are so many restaurants in the immediate area. My friends from the suburbs recommended that we try it, although I have been several times but not for some time. I told my husband that we have to add Public House to one of our regular haunts!!!
In from out of town.
Being from out of town , all the websites and reviews fail to mention that the music is blaring and unless you are a 20 something with great ears this isn’t your type of place . We RUSHED to get there because of the “reservation” , we even paid for $30 parking because we didn’t want to miss the time. Come to find out , they don’t need a reservation to sit you , I was so upset about this because had I known this I would have searched for outdoor parking for a couple more minutes. The milkshakes were not worth all the hype! The shake itself was blah and the cake was dry !!
We had a great time once we were moved away from a big party going on.
We got two appetizers, fried pickles were awful like they came from a box and the Brussels were barely better. We ended up leaving and not even ordering dinner . Too loud and we were seated in the bar area .
This place was very noisy inside and out. In fairness it is a bar with lots of TV's but if you want to have a conversation it's a little much. The fried pickles were good. The fried chicken sandwich was just average. Not much taste. I rarely eat fried food and should have had a burger. I wouldn't go back.
Our server Paige was awesome. She gave us great recommendations based on her knowledge of the menu and our preferences. Crispy Brussels sprouts were so good and I enjoyed the lemony aioli. I loved the Blackberry Mamba, the Herradura tequila added a smokey spice to the blackberries and it was so smooth and went down dangerously fast. Our server recommended the Razz 75 to my friend but customized with vodka instead of the gin. It was the perfect location to our improtu night in the city while my friend is visiting the US.
Food was good. Service was good. NOISE LEVEL WAS FAR TOO LOUD. Yes it was a weekend and the place was busy but you could not carry on a conversation without yelling. The mussels were very tasty. Pulled pork was very good. Give this place a try but try to find a less busy time to go.
It wasn’t what I was expecting. The waitress wasn’t too friendly and took a long time for everything plus forgot 2/7 guests’ orders. I went here for my birthday expecting more and it wasn’t too fun for my birthday. The men who brought water and utensils were phenomenal and the best part. Food was average. I got the Mac and cheese. I recommend it if you eat here but wasn’t the best. The fries were really good. I think they must have been having an off day here.
It was my birthday. My spouse and I had a great first experience here at public house. We definitely hope to visit again. The staff was phenomenal and the food was delicious. Thank You for helping make my birthday special.
I’ve been here before a year ago, but this recent visit was hugely disappointing. They had reduced the size of the meal I was excited to get. Then the egg arrived with runny whites. I sent t back and they brought it back out again, still with runny whites. I’m convinced they actually didn’t do anything with them when they took them back. They brought it back and my sunnyside up was now basically a hard fried egg. In the meantime they didn’t bring my bread. When they did, it had no butter, so I had to ask for that. And my steak was VERY well done instead of medium well. The waitress never came back to check on my eggs, and seemed annoyed when I caught her to mention the toast. Some of my drink spilled so I asked for another napkin and she never brought it. I finally ate my cold toast and steak while I waited for the egg. Meanwhile the waitress never came to ask if we wanted refills. Finally caught a manager, who was nice and listened and took the meal off, but it was just too disappointing all around. Won’t be back.
Wife’s Birthday Brunch.
Overrated, the food was OK, but overpriced. The shakes were the reason we went and were very disappointing. Would not go back.
We were staying at the Kinzie hotel next door and stopped here for brunch on our way out. We got 20% off since we were hotel guests. We sat outside on the patio which was perfect. Delicious food, large portions, good time!
Everything was great! Was there for brunch to celebrate my daughter’s birthday and our server Anela was very friendly, helpful, attentive, and fun. She even brought us a complimentary piece of chocolate cake which was amazing! The appetizers, main courses, and blood orange mimosas were awesome. We had the Deviled Eggs & Crispy Brussel Sprouts to start, and then French Toast Sticks and Crab Cake Eggs Benedict, and I highly recommend them all. Great start to our day! Thank-you...
Great food and service!
The sweet potato tater tots were amazing! Would highly recommend them. Server (AJ) was great!
The food was anazing!! The dressings for the salads were so tasty, I’ve never had anything like them!
Food was fun, atmosphere was lively, and service was excellent. Went for an early dinner with in laws and kids in tow and everyone was happy! Will definitely visit again
Mac & cheese was phenomenal.
Cake shake actually had cake blended in rather than just on top, which sunk to the bottom of the glass. The upper portion was good, the bottom soggy beer milkshake coated cake. It would be great if they skipped blending the cake in.
