Food is delicious! Grilled chicken sandwich and pulled chicken salad were so good. But anything I have had there is very good.

We purposely went for the cake shakes which
I saw on Instagram. They were exactly as advertised and delicious. Wonderful cake shake for $15. Before our shakes came we had the deviled eggs and brussel sprouts - both very tasty.

We liked this place so well we went 2 days in a row on our trip to Chicago. It was the perfect spot to take a group to watch March Madness, and the service was great. We never waited for anything. The wait staff was great. And they even were awesome about refilling our water glasses in between many drinks :) LOL.

Thanks Public House for making such great memories and being a wonderful place to watch Loyola make it to the Final Four and Kansas University as well. Wish we could come back this weekend for the next round.

Keep up the great work! Cheers. Only thing better would be if you poured Bombora Vodka! It's at other spots in Chicago...talk to someone about getting that great vodka in and then you'd be perfect!

We made a reservation for some post shamrock shuffle Bloody Mary drinks and they did not disappoint! We were running behind due to street closures and they held our reservation for an extra half hour, which we sincerely appreciated. Perfect spot for Sunday Funday!

Service was horrible, we waited so long for the waiter to get our orders and she forgot to get the menus twice. Nothing was done when the party group next to us was doing some very inappropriate things. They were practically having sex right infront of us.

Went to watch the NCAA games & have food & drinks. For earlier games, sound was on, music turned on during commercials. Later games did not have sound. Music was decent. Started to get really crowded & they take away bar stools and tables around 11.

We were super excited to celebrate a birthday here. Most guests were from out of town. I made a reservation weeks in advance for 8 guests. When we arrived we were squeezed in a booth in a corner. There were other open tables but were told we could not move. It was disappointing.

Really good food and drinks, but service was incredibly slow. When we arrived the host told us there was a reservation after us at noon so we would need to wrap up by then. Um... Your website allowed me to make a reservation for 10:30am, so that's your problem if you booked another reservation too soon. Just weird. We ordered food at 10:45 and it took OVER AN HOUR for the food to come out. Our orders were not complicated - 8 orders of things like omelets, parfaits, etc. They didn't kick us out of our table at noon since our food arrived at 11:50, but it was frustrating because it was a beautiful day and we wanted to get out of there just as much as they wanted us to. A few of our breakfasts came with english muffins or bagels which were dry, so we asked for jelly and cream cheese which they charged us for. This was all for my friend's birthday which we let the waitress know. No birthday dessert or anything which is fine, but would not recommend for a special occasion. Also FYI if there's a major sports game on they crank the volume up so not the best place for conversation.

UPDATE 4/2/18: The general manager contacted me after seeing this review, she was apologetic and offered to bring us in for brunch. We came back in this past Saturday and it was a TOTALLY different experience. Excellent service, food came out quickly and was delicious again!

I made a reservation for my birthday to have one of the specialty stout milkshakes. There was zero point in making a reservation because when we arrived, the girl said that there were private events going on and that my reserved table was not going to be given to me until after the private event left. The wait staff and the hostess were rude. We had to wait for a first come, first serve bar seat, in which when we actually sat down, the area was filthy. A random waitress told me there was no bar tender at the bar we sat at, so she "could serve us if we wanted her to." Um...of course we want a server! That was a stupid thing to say. Overall, this bar is for 21 year-old, immature millennial not for the 30-something, working crowd.

Average bar food at average prices; think QUANTITY more than QUALITY. My BLT Club sandwich was HUGE but, with pig as the 1st ingredient, I expected more bacon, and less salad. My much-better-half ordered her burger MEDIUM; it showed up 2X dead. There were booths available; I requested one in my profile, but apparently the host station doesn’t read OT guest preferences. Move along folks, nothing to see here :-{

Great food and service. I would go back. The music was way too loud and there was only one bathroom for everyone. It didn't need the bouncer or dj, the set up is more suitable for a chill place, not a club. The owner needs to figure out what he/she is going for because people went there for a chill rest of the night (couples, people with their parents, and coworkers were most of the restaurant) based on what the website presented and didn't expect the loud music or bouncer. I went with my significant other and mother/daughter table next to us asked if we expected it to be so loud or expected to have our IDs checked.

A group of friends and I went to Public House for Valentines to get the cake shakes. The food was good, and the shakes were pretty looking. I don’t know that I would go again and pay $15 for a cake shake, but it was worth doing once.

Best burger in Chicago! Had lunch with a friend and the setting was just right for conversation and great food. Location on State Street in the heart of the city. Will look forward to returning next visit to the city. We enjoyed our visit, and restaurants like Public House contributed to our enjoyment.

We tried Public House for lunch during restaurant week. We had made a reservation but that wasn’t necessary on a Monday afternoon. The hostess was polite and seated us immediately. Our server came shortly after we were seated to take the drink order and explain the menu. She was friendly and attentive, but not overly so, throughout the meal. The wait staff were also exceptional at keeping our water glasses full and clearing empty plates. The restaurant week menu was an awesome deal and the regular menu looked on par with similar places in the area ($12-$15 for burgers and sandwiches). We had the build your Mac and cheese, which was Ah-Mazing — creamy and cheesy and a good size portion. I had the Baja tacos and my boyfriend had the burger. Both were full of flavor. The tacos had good balance, sweet and heat, but were a little small. The burger was cooked perfectly, very juicy. Dessert was mini cake shakes and we tried both vanilla and chocolate. The minis were a perfect small size to end a 3-course lunch. The cake sat on top of the shake. The vanilla cake was confetti and the chocolate was simple chocolate with white icing. Both cakes were good, dense (in a good way), and not too sweet. Personally preferred the chocolate cake. The milkshakes were flavored with porters based on the menu but they tasted like regular vanilla and chocolate milkshakes to me. Good though and paired perfectly with the cake. Highly recommend the full size ones. I saw the monthly special served (Valentine’s Day themed) and it looked incredible.

We arrived at 9:55 am, at 10:00 a guy came out and said their system was down, we asked if we could wait inside the restaurant as it was freezing outside, he laughed and said “you’re gonna have to ask the manager” he kept laughing and went back inside. A lady came out and let us in, we didn’t mind waiting but the personnel was rude and had an attitude. Our waitress was great tho and the food was good so that somehow made it up for it. Disappointed, as we were visiting all the way from Texas.

I treated four of my girlfriends from California to dinner at Public House. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was fantastic. The only downfall was that we had a child with us, (I called to make sure she would be allowed in and was told she would be fine until 9:30pm) we arrived at 8:00pm and were carded when we walked in the door. This automatically made us feel awkward since we had a little girl with us. She was welcomed in and had a great time after we were seated. Overall, it was a great time.

Perfect! My friends and I came for my birthday and enjoyed the whiskey/cocktails that were served. The only thing we didn’t appreciate were the gigantic TV’s. I understand it’s a sports bar so whatever, but it was hard to keep a conversation when people were getting distracted. Overall, I was pretty tipsy (in that buzzed feel-good type way) but it’s more of a pregame spot! Would have been awkward dancing with limited space.

I had an interesting experience. We ordered the vanilla shake. The piece of cake on top tasted weird, so we told her manager and they determined that garlic was spilled on the cake or something. So they took it off our bill and gave us a piece of good chocolate cake. Besides that situation, the food was great and the restaurant was cute. They handled everything well. Would eat here again.
