Several years ago, I decided that my future in the restaurant business would most likely not remain in the realm of fine dining and gourmands, but would rather lean towards the style of restaurant that I found myself frequenting most often - places that provided consistency and quality at a price that was fair for the quality of the food and experience. Public House plays to the comforts of good, solid food, while applying the principles of premium food products to a more casual setting. You will find all the fish is delivered from Foley’s in Boston, high quality steaks and a rotating selection of vegetable sides that are true to the region and season. You’ll also find a really good hamburger and fish sandwich, along with fun snacks and small plates that pair well with cocktails, beer and wine.

    Always love getting to eat at Public House while visiting Chatt. Beautiful location as we set outside on the wrap around porch to enjoy the first day of fall. The pork belly appetizer was delicious and I really enjoyed the pimento & bacon cheeseburger with shoestring fries.

    Ambiance was great. Food was excellent. I had the Cobb salad (which was huge) and my husband had the shrimp and grits. We also got the cornbread as an appetizer. Highly recommend!

    We visited for my husband’s 40th birthday and booked the oak room. It was perfect for our party of 10 and we were well tended to all night. I even dropped off a few decorations earlier in the afternoon, just to make sure my husband wouldn’t see them, and the staff decorated the room for me! It was a great extra touch, and was so very much appreciated!

    We had the shrimp and grits and the steak. Both were excellent. The service was also great. The restaurant is broken up into several rooms. The one we were seated in wasn't as nice as some of the others.

    Had a reservation and was taken right to our table. Several staff members came by to welcome us and ask if we had any questions about what was on offer on the menu and to point out new seasonal dishes. The food was outstanding and the the service awesome. It was a memorable meal. We definitely look forward to coming there again.

    This is the second time that Public House has gone above and beyond to sit our large party together when we added people unexpectedly. They are always so courteous! The food is delicious, and the service is always top-notch. We love Public House!

    Great spot to stop for delicious food at a reasonable price. We had the pot roast and potatoes after seeing a review on YouTube. Found have served a side veggie with it but still very good. Service was exceptional. Table for two in a spot with a bit more traffic than we would have liked but it was a busy night so we were happy to be seated right away anyway. Server was spectacular and table was cleared quickly for the next course.

    The Public House offers an outstanding dining experience. I have dined there many times and everything I have tried on their menu has been phenomenal. Lots of menu choices that are very reasonably priced with generous portions.

    Public House is an old favorite of ours. I always come here on my birthday for the creme brulee. We have never had a bad experience or tried anything we didn't like. Highly recommend!

    We had guest from out of town, and they were very impressed!! Out server was great and did not rush us, as we stayed longer than usual to visit. They also could not believe that their parking was validated!

    I recently dined at the Public House in downtown Chattanooga, TN, and I must say, it was a delightful experience worthy of a four-star review. Let's start with the positives. The restaurant boasts a wonderful atmosphere, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. I particularly appreciated the freshness of the food and the diverse menu offerings. Even though I couldn't secure a booth as requested through Open Table, the staff went the extra mile to accommodate us in a private section, ensuring we enjoyed an intimate meal away from the hustle and bustle. Kudos to the attentive and exceptional service provided by our server, Amy, who anticipated our needs throughout the evening. We kicked off our meal with the pork belly and fried okra, both of which were excellent choices. The presentation of our dishes, the Cobb salad, and the trout, was nothing short of exceptional. While the Cobb salad had a unique twist with fried chicken tenders instead of grilled, I couldn't help but think it would have been even better with a touch more blue cheese. Nevertheless, it was a nearly five-star experience. Now, onto a few minor downsides. The menu on Open Table appeared outdated, causing some initial confusion. I had requested a booth, which wasn't available upon arrival. My beer, though warm, wasn't a significant issue, and I didn't mention it to the staff, but I'm confident they would have rectified it if I had. The summer vegetable soup, could use a bit more flavor. Additionally, the bacon in the Cobb salad was slightly too crisp for my taste; it would have been better cooked to order. Lastly, the presence of a persistent fly made the dining experience a tad less enjoyable. In summary, the Public House offers a fantastic dining experience with a great atmosphere, fresh food, and outstanding service. With a few minor tweaks and updates, it could easily reach a solid five-star rating. I highly recommend giving it a try for a memorable meal in downtown.

    We were here for a birthday dinner and the bartenders were busy and all seemed annoyed. It felt inconvenient to ask for anything extra that we needed. We asked a food runner for a sauce and she never brought it to the table. Mediocre service but great food!

    Very good quality food at a very good price point. It was a little loud, but that had more to do with the young adult birthday group right next to us. Not a good placement for a couple on an anniversary date :-).

    The food was delicious and pricing is still a good value. As always, love the pimento cheese and fried pickles! Our server was friendly and efficient. Public House is still one of our favorite places to come for birthday celebrations.

    Quite possibly my favorite Chattanooga dining experience. The wedge salad, petite 4 oz filet (cooked to perfection) and side of the crispiest succotash and aperol spritz comprised the perfect summer supper.

    We started with help from the very lovely hostess there who took care of us and put us at a comfortable table by the window. Like the bottled water service at the table. We found out that Monday’s we’re half-price on wine.  decided to get a bottle of sparkling and had starters and sides for our meal.  very much recommend the pimento cheese appetizer. The sourdough bread that goes with that is amazing. They had a lovely charcuterie board with some local picks as well. Would definitely return.

    I trusted the reviews I had read on Open Table and ordered the fried chicken, which is something I never would have ordered. It was hands down the best fried chicken I have ever eaten. We will definitely go back.
