About Pub Burgundy Lion
The word pub is derived from the term public house. A public house was traditionally a meeting spot that could serve as a center for the community as much as the local church. With Burgundy Lion, we immerse ourselves in the community and re-create that sense of comfort but with a modern twist. The concept behind the design and feel of Burgundy Lion is to blend a traditional British pub with a modern lounge bar and to offer a unique twist on British pub cuisine. Burgundy Lion is located in Little Burgundy, an old working class neighborhood in Montreal, steeped in history. Since the early 90"s, Little Burgundy has enjoyed a re-birth as young professionals are taking advantage of its renewed sense of community. Burgundy Lion is not a "traditional" pub by Montreal standards. It provides a higher quality product in food, drink, service, and ambiance than other Montreal pubs.

Pub Burgundy Lion Ratings and Reviews
Server was not attentive. Customers who sat after us ate first. All breakfast food. Server got upset and rude about small tip. Stared at us angrily from the door as we got up to leave. HE Didn't bid us good day, instead HE stared angrily at us with his hand on his hip sulking because of his tip. Very uncomfortable and rude. Server didn't deserve a penny.
The service and "indoor" terrasse saved the day...go there if you want a Pub ambiance, Nice waitresses, and...à Nice dog inside(no joke, they let dogs in the inside terrasse!!) the desserts are really, really good (sticky pudding, cheese cake, peach thinghy were amazing). Every thing else is average...fries are just fat, fish and chip is just 'panure', vege burger boring.
Very cool place, hadn't been in a couple years but had good memories and they were able to handle a bunch for 10 on short notice. Food is great for the price. Expect upscale pub food, and you won't be disappointed. Service was a bit slow but pleasant. Wouldn't hesitate to go back. Greta specialty coffees!
We were particularly impressed with the service. The kitchen was closing (for repairs?) and they called us that day to let us know it would be closing early. When we got there, they were very accommodating and we did not feel rushed during dinner. Maybe because of the construction there were fewer diners than usual, but the pub did not have the loud atmosphere that we had read about in some reviews. While we were initially unhappy that we had not received earlier notice, they made our experience a pleasant one; if they had not told us about the kitchen we never would have known. Pub food was good.
Overall it is an excellent neighborhood choice! If you are a visitor to Montreal and want something that is more of neighborhood establishment as opposed the downtown scene and don't mind taking a cab or Uber, then i would definitely recommend! While the waitstaff is very pleasant, you may get the feeling of lack of attentiveness and indifference
The waitress, despite speaking with her in both French and English to ensure she understood my simple drink order, did not know what I was talking about... I had specified "Schweppes Tonic Water in the yellow can", but she understood otherwise! This beverage has a strong bitter-sweet taste that can mask additives. I could not understand why I felt drunk during the course of the meal, at the end of which I asked if there were any alcohol in my food or drink, which she acknowledged admitting to serving me a gin tonic! She may have adjusted the bill accordingly, but my evening plans were changed because of my state and sensitivity to alcohol... Good thing I was not taking medication, expecting a child or the designated driver that evening!
Very disappointed with our last trip to Burgundy Lion. I ordered Colonial chicken curry, mentioning gluten allergy, and also asked for no yogurt on top. They brought the dish with yogurt on top. Which is not a big deal, mistakes happen, so I just asked them to fix my order.
They took the dish away and later came back with a plate that had a lot more food in it. I got really excited, thought they are just giving me more to make up for their mistake.
BUT as I started eating, I realized that it's the same plate, THEY DID NOT REMOVE THE YOGURT...THEY COVERED IT WITH MORE RICE. WOW!
Waitress was nowhere to be found, she came to us only twice..when we just came and when she brought the check.
I had to let manager know, he explained that it would have taken too long to prepare a new dish...so they just ...covered ..yogurt.
I am terribly disappointed as I loved Burgundy Lion so much and have been going for years. But this is completely unacceptable. It's important for people like me with food allergies and sensitivities to know that this restaurant does not take it seriously, at least not every day.
Came here to watch my beloved Spurs play Man City, good atmosphere, decent food, a great peach crumble.....only negative is that there aren't many large tvs. They have the big projected screen and then a couple of small screens where line of sight is not that great.
Overall a fun time though.
Disappointed that the person who greeted us was unilingual French
Also only French menus which is a MAJOR no no for me and the reason I will NEVER go back to this restaurant
Took a long time to get served and waited 20 minutes for bill only then did I discover that we were supposed to ask for it
Overall poor experience and disappointing since we have been there many times before
Not my first time at Burgundy Lion, but it was the first time I was thoroughly disappointed. Had the fish n chips: one piece was undercooked and the other had been deep fried *at least* twice and was dark brown. Extremely loud (both due to patrons and jacked music). I'll still go back for the variety of scotch though...but not for the food.
Loud, the Burgundy Lion plays loud music which makes it difficult to have a conversation with friends unless you are less than 12 inches from their ear. This was a surprise to my Australian friends who were surprised that a British pub would play loud music. The age range in the bar is 20-30 years old and it seems to be a first date place or a place to get together with friends. Not a big selection of beers and the food selection is regular British pub fair. I would not go here for a business meeting or to have a relaxing drink but I would drop in if attending a concert at the Corona Theater next door.
