Great place for brunch! Great ambiance, service, and food.
We frequent this pub every time we visit Montreal. It is usually one of our highlights. Unfortunately, the quality of the service and food were severely lacking on this occasion. My husband ALWAYS orders the lamb shank and this time, although tasty, was extremely small compared to past visits. My Sheppard's Pie was mainly mashed potatoes with very little meat - which was not my experience in the past. It seems like they are trying to cut back and save costs at the customers expense. As for the service, we had to wait over 45 minutes for our appetizer, and they were kind enough not to charge us for it. All in all, not sure we will go back next time we are in town.
We, collectively, agreed that the food quality had diminished since we last visited. Plates were smaller and not up to par. Disappointed.
Terrible... I ordered the steak medium. Comes over cook almost well done and Pittsburgh style... no taste, no flavour... for 40$ with tips ???
Your «grillman » don’t know his temperature and the grill most be very dirty for make Pittsburgh the meat...
I am also grillman with 15 years experience... and that’s absolutely horrible representions and not even British way.
Music over loud... can’t even hear my friend at 30cm of my face at 6:30pm supper time... not even clubbing time.
The Burgundy Lion is a long time favourite and a fun place to visit. The pub is situated in trendy area and caters to those who like a taste of British fare
The service is very good and the staff warm and friendly, catering to your every need.
During summer there is a terrace which is very popular and always full
Great selection of single malt should you linger for awhile
Love visiting and dining there
The food was good but the service was quite cold. The waiter should of stayed home that day.
Certainly does not resemble the pubs in the UK. No where near the same atmosphere. The only thing this place has going for it is the single malt selection.
Friendly staff. Food is top notch. I love this place.
Went there for the SuperBowl. At one point, the TV stopped working and they immediately switched us to a private booth with a TV. Their turkey wings were amazing, and the staff was perfect throughout.
The ambiance, food and service were all very good. This is a good spot in Griffintown for a burger and beer.
Great location for an office get together.
Authentic British Pub fare. The food / service were very good. The server was fast, friendly and efficient. Nice atmosphere.
A good time was had by all.
The staff are outstanding. Always friendly and making sure your meal is up to par. You are never rushed. The food is good and the portions are generous.
I don't live in Quebec but when i'm in town and looking for a spot to meet with friends The Burgundy Lion is always at the top of my list.
They are happy to speak to you in either French or English and that means they will always get my business!
Staff was very accommodating. Requested seating for recent Manchester Derby EPL match and they definitely delivered. Service was efficient and friendly!
The place was awesome the drinks were great and the service was impeccable!! Amazing place to hang out!!
Enjoyed a relaxed business lunch over a delicious meal in this cozy LIttle Burgandy Pub. great food and attentive, friendly service. We decided to make it our regular go-to resto for lunch meetings.
Service, food very good. A bit of a mix up with my reservation but staff worked it out swiftly and to my satisfaction. Patrons way too noisy and the more the voices were raised, the more the music level went up.
Known for it's fish and chips Burgundy Lion never disappoints. This time I had the Colonial Chicken it was so so good. I loved it. Good service, friendly atmosphere and easy parking. Good value. I'll be back.
Good and generous breakfast. We will certainly be back.
Really loved it
We liked our experience at lunchtime. Very nice, honest food and excellent service. I recommend the Lion wholeheartedly!
Really great brunch but service was a bit lacking due to shortage of staff. Need to do better
Excellent breakfast experience, food was delicious, service was good, ambiance was perfect for a Sunday morning breakfast
Server was not attentive. Customers who sat after us ate first. All breakfast food. Server got upset and rude about small tip. Stared at us angrily from the door as we got up to leave. HE Didn't bid us good day, instead HE stared angrily at us with his hand on his hip sulking because of his tip. Very uncomfortable and rude. Server didn't deserve a penny.
The service and "indoor" terrasse saved the day...go there if you want a Pub ambiance, Nice waitresses, and...à Nice dog inside(no joke, they let dogs in the inside terrasse!!) the desserts are really, really good (sticky pudding, cheese cake, peach thinghy were amazing). Every thing else is average...fries are just fat, fish and chip is just 'panure', vege burger boring.
Very cool place, hadn't been in a couple years but had good memories and they were able to handle a bunch for 10 on short notice. Food is great for the price. Expect upscale pub food, and you won't be disappointed. Service was a bit slow but pleasant. Wouldn't hesitate to go back. Greta specialty coffees!
A little noisy with the renovations still going on.
We had a great time & enjoyed everything so much! Staff was friendly & food was delicious! Thank you so much & will definitely remember it next time we are in Montreal !
We were particularly impressed with the service. The kitchen was closing (for repairs?) and they called us that day to let us know it would be closing early. When we got there, they were very accommodating and we did not feel rushed during dinner. Maybe because of the construction there were fewer diners than usual, but the pub did not have the loud atmosphere that we had read about in some reviews. While we were initially unhappy that we had not received earlier notice, they made our experience a pleasant one; if they had not told us about the kitchen we never would have known. Pub food was good.
Its a classic, what can I say.
A beer (locally brewed), scotch egg and a fish and chips at the Burgundy Lion...
if that doen't make your mouth water, nothing will...
As always the food and pints were excellent. Little noisy but it's a pub right?
Ambiance, atmosphère, qualité du service sans compter que la nourriture est exquise, on y retourne encore et encore!
Tout est parfait!
Merci Burgundy Lion!
Overall it is an excellent neighborhood choice! If you are a visitor to Montreal and want something that is more of neighborhood establishment as opposed the downtown scene and don't mind taking a cab or Uber, then i would definitely recommend! While the waitstaff is very pleasant, you may get the feeling of lack of attentiveness and indifference
The waitress, despite speaking with her in both French and English to ensure she understood my simple drink order, did not know what I was talking about... I had specified "Schweppes Tonic Water in the yellow can", but she understood otherwise! This beverage has a strong bitter-sweet taste that can mask additives. I could not understand why I felt drunk during the course of the meal, at the end of which I asked if there were any alcohol in my food or drink, which she acknowledged admitting to serving me a gin tonic! She may have adjusted the bill accordingly, but my evening plans were changed because of my state and sensitivity to alcohol... Good thing I was not taking medication, expecting a child or the designated driver that evening!
Went to Burgundy Lion for brunch. Amazing food and great place to watch sport events with friends. I had great experience!
I've always loved BL for their awesome breakfasts, and this was no exception. The blood sausage portion was really generous, service was great.
Friendly and attractive wait staff. Easily accommodated our group of of ten.
The food was excellent. But more importantly the staff was top notch. It was extremely busy that night but everyone from the guy who sat us, to the waitress and the barmaid made us feel like we were the only ones there. Excellent staff.
We had a great family breakfast! Food and drink are always amazing
Je déplore la cuisson des Fish & Chips : beaucoup trop cuits! Les autres plats étaient savoureux
Very disappointed with our last trip to Burgundy Lion. I ordered Colonial chicken curry, mentioning gluten allergy, and also asked for no yogurt on top. They brought the dish with yogurt on top. Which is not a big deal, mistakes happen, so I just asked them to fix my order.
They took the dish away and later came back with a plate that had a lot more food in it. I got really excited, thought they are just giving me more to make up for their mistake.
BUT as I started eating, I realized that it's the same plate, THEY DID NOT REMOVE THE YOGURT...THEY COVERED IT WITH MORE RICE. WOW!
Waitress was nowhere to be found, she came to us only twice..when we just came and when she brought the check.
I had to let manager know, he explained that it would have taken too long to prepare a new dish...so they just ...covered ..yogurt.
I am terribly disappointed as I loved Burgundy Lion so much and have been going for years. But this is completely unacceptable. It's important for people like me with food allergies and sensitivities to know that this restaurant does not take it seriously, at least not every day.
