Made the bachelor party feel especially important by seating us in the corner with all the comfy couches
Interesting location in basement of hotel. Atmosphere could have been better if it was a little darker and not so many lights. Needs to have more mystique like atmosphere. The drink menu was interesting and enjoyable. Not much of a selection for snacks or other food.
This speakeasy was outstanding! The place is beautiful, the music was on point, the noise was minimal and I could actually talk to my fiancé. The staff was very nice and accommodating. 4/5 for drinks because mine had a very strange, bitter taste to it. My fiancé loved his though. We will definitely come come back!
Great place to go after dinner. We were sure to make reservations as I had heard that some people were turned away. Latest time available for a reservation was 9:00p so we took it. The place was about 1/3 full when we arrived but got increasingly busier throughout the evening. My wife and I enjoyed 4 different drinks (2/each). Each one was unique - allowing us to taste each ingredient w/out being too strong. I had assumed the vibe would be like Manifesto. Although it wasn't, it was still a great experience and a cool place to hang out for a couple of drinks at the end of the night.
Our first time at PS and we really enjoyed it! We will definitely be back.
Had a great time here - loved the atmosphere! Drinks were good but they did run out of trail mix which was sad since they did not have many snack options to choose from. Overall would definitely return!
Was a very cool place! The drinks were delicious and the seating options were perfect for the speakeasy era. I wish the images on the wall were a little bit larger or more of them - since its dark down there, I couldn't really tell what any of them were. The music was a little loud - there weren't too many people there early in the evening and found it difficult to talk to the person next to me.
Great atmosphere and drinks. I'd definitely go back. Only draw back was our waitress...maybe she was just having a bad night, but she wasn't the nicest. Almost felt like we were a burden to her. Everyone else was great though.
Had really tasty cocktails (pricey at $12-15) but the service was average. We had requested high top in our reservations made 2 weeks before and were offered a booth. No big deal. The service can be described as pretentious hipster and we got the feeling we were asking dumb questions about the menu. Overall a pleasant time and nice experience with friends, just didn’t leave with the feeling that we would come back. Also hotel Phillips apparently has limited valets who can drive a standard so when we left we were walked back to our car as the one girl who could drive my Subaru had left for the night (we left @ 945). Found that very strange.
We did not eat there and I don’t believe they serve food.
We went there with a small group for drinks and it was a great time. Laid back, craft cocktails, and an all around enjoyable lounge atmosphere .
Very large noisy group that ruined the experience for us. It was a wedding party and people kept coming in and out and it was difficult to have a conversation
First going and I like it, went to see Langston & Prototype and he never disappoints. Wish there were more small bite options..
Bartender was great. Made the experience
The bar itself is decorated very well to create a comfortable, relaxing environment that is in my opinion the best "speakeasy" vibe in KC. Live jazz music from A La Mode was beautiful and made it feel it even more like a speakeasy from the 30s. The drinks were very well made and presented and I think reasonably priced. Only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars was the food; we got the charcuterie board and were unfortunately disappointed in how little variety there was (one small block of cheese, a few pieces of two meats, and no fruit). For the price, I definitely expected more than that. Still overall a wonderful place to go and we will definitely be going back again!
Such a fun place and the DJ was awesome!
Loved the ambiance and live music at PS! Decor was amazing, very intimate and romantic. My fiance and I were disappointed by the 'meat and cheese' plate we ordered for $20 and felt it was definitely not worth the price. Our craft cocktails were excellent.
The server stemmed to rush us as she told us twice they were closing in an hour. We stopped in after a concert just my husband and I. The food was just ok and the drinks were fine. We probably won’t be repeat customers
I went with a party of 8 to P.S. and had made reservations in advance. We loved the quick service and the music was great. We sat right next to the jazz band, but were still able to have conversations without yelling. The atmosphere is great too; upscale and laid back. Would definitely recommend.
The space is beautifully decorated and it has a nice feel. That said, I had to go and get the server, who didn't visit often even after we ordered. Also the drink menu is limited and the drinks we received were...meh. It was a lot noisier than other Speakeasy spots we've visited.
I was disappointed by the significant noise level that made it difficult to have conversation without leaning toward your companion in order to overcome the din. I had anticipated an environment that would be more subdued, semi-private, even romantic. While the visual ambiance fit this description, the noise level was just shy of a bachelorette party due to a large group of women talking past one another. The drinks were generally good, but not enough to justify the premium pricing. I had really hoped to find a new favorite haunt. But the search continues...
My group and I selected PS Speakeasy for a birthday celebration. The birthday girl wanted a "speakeasy vibe" so we decided to check it out for the first time. As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted by the incredibly friendly and helpful host, Fritz. He was amazing and even shared some of the history about the hotel and lounge, which we found very interesting. Every cocktail we tried was delicious and one of people in our group did the "tell the bartender what you like and we'll make it" mentioned on the menu and it was one of the best drinks we tried all night!
They only had one waitress for the entire place. She was also making drinks at one point. There were a ton of people there so it's crazy that only had one person working on a busy Saturday night.
We had so much fun celebrating our 44th anniversary. The venue is cozy and the jazz was so good. Highly recommend for a glass of spirits with your Baby and fun music.
Perfect kind of romantic date place. The drinks are very strong :)
While we were staying at the Hotel Phillips, we were notified that they had a Speakeasy. You can't go to KC and not visit one. There was a 3 piece band with a singer dressed in 1920's attire, which was cool. And it was fun to go downstairs through the unmarked door. I had a cocktail that was "ok" and it cost $15.00. We only stayed for 20-30 min to have the experience.
Beautiful, dimly lit room with fun, hidden entrance. Did a very nice job setting up the ambiance. DJ v. band that night playing jazz. DJ politely checked to be sure music wasn't too loud and played a great selection of music. Unfortunately, table next to us was extremely loud with 8 or 9 people sitting/standing around a table meant for 2-4 and encroaching on our table. Lot of lights from cell phones from other tables nearby too. We left after one cocktail each since the conversations were so loud. Too bad, could have been a nice evening. Would like to see management set proper expectations to keep conversation to moderate level, no cell phone usage and limit booths to number intended. Valet, host and bartenders all great. Complimentary valet with PS reservations was a nice surprise. I would try one more time in hopes that management adopts and shares some rules/behavioral expectations with patrons going forward. Otherwise I will stick with the other speakeasys around town who encourage moderate volume and restrict cell phone usage so everyone can enjoy their evening.
To my knowledge they don’t have food but cool place
Loved the hidden door to the speakeasy. Staff was very friendly and explained the history. Enjoyed the live jazz.
We didn’t have any food, I didn’t see any one the menu, not sure they even offer it but we weren’t planning on eating, I only mention it because I had to rate food to leave a review.
We expected good things as we are fans of a speakeasy. However, this seemed like amateur night in the cocktail realm. With The W in Lee's Summit and Manifesto, as well as a few others around the city to choose from, PS needs to step up their game. It wasn't a horrible experience, but it definitely wasn't up to par with their competition! We were unimpressed.
Amazing place to go out, relax and have a good time with friends and love ones.
We were guests at Hotel Phillips and went to P.S. Speakeasy for cocktails before dinner. It was so cool, great vibe, wonderful drink selections and excellent service by Sadie. We loved it so much we went back after dinner for a nightcap. Will definitely be visiting P.S. Speakeasy again.
It really felt distant grim the city life, even though it wasn't. Music was amazing, and the atmosphere was very seductive. I had an amazing time. I will return.
Goat and rabbit was a very good drink of you like whiskey.
Paris of the Plains was interesting. Cocktails are served in extremely small servings- beware!
Great place. Great service. Great atmosphere. Definitely will return.
The ambiance is amazing. I loved the mystery of the entrance. Definitely a spot we will return to!
Great place! Love the clandestine experience to get through the door! Loved it.
