the 2 tops are so close to each other and seated right next to each other that it completely destroys any sense of ambience or privacy. there are parts of the restaurants which are expansive and completely empty... so seating 4 dates right next to each other and within an earshot of each other shows that the restaurant really doesn't value 2 tops as much as it does bigger groups, or perhaps the entire management team has never gone on a dinner date to recognize that this is not a good idea! it felt awkward hearing everyones conversation without even trying to.

The plates are small and it’s a tapas style. You need to get at least 2 plates per person. The service was really great and the drinks were cool and interesting. The food was worth the experience even though it wasn’t my top 3. I really liked the mushroom and yuba noodle salad and the tres Lethe cake was delicious.

Delightfully creative. Inspired combinations of a main item and sauce or spices. Fun craft cocktails and thoughtfully curated wine list. Fantastic service with helpful explanations about the menu selections. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Excellent Food and outstanding service! They went out of their way to seat us in a comfortable area and our waitress was on point on every recommendation she made. The servings are small but vary tasty. I will go back again.

I loved everything about Proxi! The dining room has a beautiful, homey interior design. Additionally service was quick, personal and genuinely concerned about our experience. International street food is a favorite in my household and all the different, affordable and medium sized dishes enabled trying many different international flavors and delicacies.

The food and service was great. Our table was ready when we arrived. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. And the food was great. New Years Eve was a tasting menu and we liked or loved everything that was brought to the table. Loved the feel of the place. Can't wait to go back.

Our early NYE dinner could not have been better. The menu was (the usual) amazing, with really creative combinations, twists on some expectations, and broad in range. The waitstaff was amazingly helpful, walking us through every item, checking for dietary needs (vegan), keeping us updated on when everything was going to arrive, and checking in on us. Cannot recommend Proxi enough.

Excellent new year's eve menu with many options, shareable and generous portions. Service was excellent, from bartenders creatively going off menu to servers refilling glasses without needed to be asked. Will strongly recommended to any Chicagoans looking for a local slightly-under-the-radar fine dining option.

Went for NYE and was very pleased with the prefixe menu option for the first seating. The wine recommendation was outstanding and our first two courses were great. The table next to us ordered the shrimp for a second course option and I was surprised to hear them send it back saying that it was undercooked. I ordered the whole fish as my entree and was disappointed to dig in and see that it too was wildly undercooked. I was not even able to stick my fork into the fish. It was sent back and took quite a while for a new plate to come out. The second go round was outstanding but I was shocked to see that nothing was deducted from our bill for this mistake, not even the next glass of wine that our server offered as I sent the fish back. It kind of made for a disappointing end to the meal. We didn't stay for the dessert course - the options were underwhelming.

The flavors of the dishes were amazing- but 5 of our dishes all arrived at the same time. I understand the tapas, family style of dining but with the unusual combination of ingredients, I would have preferred the dishes to have been served at a slower pace- thus allowing one to enjoy the uniqueness of the flavors.

I went for my friends birthday. The drinks were good. I wasn’t a fan of the yellowtail dish or the whole fish. We loved the dumplings, roasted potatoes, and the kalbi. The desserts were amazing. Our waiter was Devin and he was awesome! We had a really nice time.

We love this place, however the last time we had been at the restaurant we thought the menu was better and the food was outstanding. This visit, we enjoyed our meal but didn’t have the same overwhelming feeling.

Front of the house was very unwelcoming. Server Abraham did a good job and the environment was good. Just way too many choices in Chicago and Proxi was just average at best

We dined early, in order to make a show at the Lyric. The staff was attentive to our rushed schedule, but ensured we had a great experience. Alan B. was an excellent server and the food was flavorful, interesting, and brought to us in "courses" that made sense. This is not a place for the "meat and potatoes" crowd - but if you are a little adventurous, you will love Proxi. The place has the feel of his other restaurant "Sepia", but at a slightly lower price point and with a very different flavor profile.

Proxi was a fun restaurant. The service was great and all! I did not like some of the small plates we got - did not like 3/5. Unfortunately, we did not ask the waiter what he recommended. With entrees that were small and foreign and martinis that did not have the traditional martini class but rather a small coupe did not
leave me wanting more...

I like the concept but one must truly compensate with EXTREME service that guides the guests taste buds. You can NOT leave a “restaurantee” to dine with a small plate and small glass”

I've dined at Proxi twice now and have not had a bad dish! The flavors and textures have been amazing, and the service terrific - the dishes are well paced, and the first course comes out more quickly than you'd expect given how bustling the restaurant is. Cocktails are great, too.

Our party of six was celebrating a birthday. We asked the server to have the chef send us his selections, making note of a few dietary restrictions. Every single dish was amazing! We also appreciated the overall design of the restaurant which allowed us to converse easily. Our server Devon was First rate. We hope to return!

Truly excellent in some many ways. The restaurant is beautiful. The overall space provides very open experience- especially the kitchen.
The Bristol gin and tonic started off the evening with a very subtle take on this classic.
From the superb eloites and the char-baked oysters as aps to the stone bass (my favorite) ,the short ribs and the pork secreto (partners fav) nothing was anything else but surprisingly and completely flavorful. Been to Spain and Portugal and this stands up well to places in those venues.
