very good dishes. But we were celebrating our anniversary and they didn't prepare anything special
Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the scallops and the Kobe beef. Great ambiance inside and attentive wait staff. It is shared small plates and recommend 4 - 5 for two people.
The food and service were excellent. Waiter gave detailed food explanations and encouraged us to try new/old restaurant favorites. We were there for brunch and will look forward to returning an evening soon for dinner.
Came here on a Saturday night for dinner and ate at a hightop table by the bar. Service was extremely slow. Took forever for our server to come over and take our drinks. My friend got the Bruja in the city and I got the Hendricks. Both were very good. Ordered the tempura elotes, mussels and Thai sausage, stone bass, crepe, wagu short rib. The crepe and the short rib were the stars. Both very flavorful and so good. Service still was very slow throughout dinner. We kept having to track down our server. Overall, food was good, but I would not come back if the service was this slow considering the restaurant was not overall busy.
The food was great and I would go back, but the service was not up to par. The poor service started with the host who seemed more interested in his carry on suitcase than seating customers. Then our server seemed to be 'put off' having to serve us. I'm in the service industry, and I understand that some days you aren't feeling it, but at those prices you need to be able to fake it. I feel bad for the chef, he did his part, the food is amazing, its front of house that is ruining it
Food is delicious, but overpriced for the small portions. The total bill was well over $600 and people left hungry.
We ordered 5 dishes, one was good (yellowtail), scallops were good but only two- not worth the price, the carrots, oysters and grilled pork were not good. The service was just OK as well, definitely not as attentive as I would expect for a place like this. I doubt I’ll be back.
Hands down one of the best meals my wife and I have ever had. Proxi's small plates beg you to really explore the full menu. Everything is coursed out intelligently. Each plate is beautifully served and inviting. if I were to be even slightly critical... the best I could say is that it should be illegal to order only ONE plate of the tempura elotes.
Delicious food. Every dish was great. Interesting and good drinks. Nice atmosphere. Overall bill less than I expected- very reasonable. Totally recommend and will go back soon. Bar area really nice, too.
Great food --waiter gave great advice and the wine was spectacular
First dinner in Chicago and it was amazing :)
Came to celebrate a birthday with friends who are foodies. Everyone was impressed by the food, drinks, and ambience. I felt like I tried flavorful and creative food influenced by the cuisine of different countries. A friend who never eats raw fish and isn’t fond of fish in general tried the Yellowtail and Pomelo Salad (with raw yellowtail) and loved it. The restaurant’s overall feel was chic without being too trendy. I would go back again even though it’s pricey.
It was our second time to visit Chicago and its restaurant scene had never failed us so far. We had the Vietnamese Crepe, the duck, the Wagyu kalbi and the lamb chops. All were very good but the wagyu kalbi was the standout dish for my me and my husband. We lived in South Korea for 8 years and i would say, both of us fairly know how authentic Kalbi should taste like and the kalbi we ordered was simply perfect, maybe even better than the ones we had in South Korea. The raspberry ice cream dessert recommended by the manager was surprisingly very good, not too sweet, just the way I preferred it to be. We’re definitely coming back the next time we visit Chicago.
The food at Proxi is some of the best in the city. Highly recommend. Everything on the menu is delicious!
I have not ordered thirds of something in a long time and their short ribs is AMAZING
Always delicious for brunch and dinner with fabulous service!
Beautiful food and excellent service! Try the yellowtail!
We consider Proxi one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago! We were there the first month they opened and had great food and enjoyed their (huge) Spanish gin cocktails. We went back for our anniversary and the food and cocktails were incredible once again. Unfortunately the server seemed almost non-existent and very short when asking for our orders. Luckily we knew how to order and enjoyed listening in to the server at the adjacent table explain the menu and various food dishes to other guests.
Insanely good food. One of the best food experiences we've had in the many years we've been visiting Chicago. Very similar to the Girl and Goat / Publican in terms of small plates and ambiance.
Delicious food, great service! We went for my birthday. The 6 of us kept ordering and ordering, but the bill only came to about $60 per person with drinks. It was a little loud in there, but overall, we had a wonderful experience.
Friends night out
Proxi’s description was tantalizing and chef Zimmerman’s travels alluring, but in the end the decor eclipsed the food. We tried almost 75% of the menu and left underwhelmed and hungry.
Great food and ambience. Some of the best cocktails we ever had.
Fantastic! Every dish was spectacular! First night and meal in Chicago and Proxi did not disappoint! We sat at the counter and loved watching the chefs all night, what a great experience... Do it!
Food, ambience, waiter Abraham was fantastic...the best mother son dinner!
Nice ambiance, food was very good but some of the plates were a small portion. Mussels and sausage was our favorite and was a nice portion. Great overall service
Every dish was delicious. 5 or 6 dishes will serve 2 people. Three very good Spanish takes on gin and tonic.
Really delicious, pleasant staff, creative combinations of flavors. Our favorites were the hummus dish, the pork secreto, and the mussels (the curry on the mussels was one of the best sauces I have ever tasted, absolutely To Die For). Only complaint is that in the section we were seated, the tables were very close to each other and despite there being multiple available tables in that section, we were seated next to another couple. After dinner, we joked about how we could really easily eavesdrop on both neighboring tables (and I'm assuming they could eavesdrop on us?), which is not ideal. In other areas of the restaurant, the tables were at a more reasonable distance from each other.
Despite small plates the portion sizes here were extremely small. Additionally the service was horrible.
Awesome venue for a business dinner. Offers lots of vegetarian options! Really liked the unique small plates. Great service!
First time visiting Proxi. Some dishes were excellent (the tempura elotes and the melon salad) and other were average (dumplings). Knocked down number of stars for service which was pretty spotty. There was a good 40 minute wait between my first dishes and my last savory one. They need to work on their kitchen timing.
The kimchi fried rice was stellar, and all the other dishes were stellar. The only complaint was that the shrimp toast was a tad too salty. I loved the ambiance and the fusion theme of every food.
Excellent food and service. Loved the yellowtail dish. The short rib and the octopus. Our server helped us figure out how much food and gave us great recommendations. I also
Love the imaginative cocktail menu and the overall ambiance. Not cheap but great value. A real winner.
Wonderful food and great service
Had a wonderful meal at Proxi to celebrate my birthday. Our group of 6 tried many different items with the help of a very knowledgeable waiter in the ordering process.
Great date night, makes you want to dress for the occasion. Tasty global tapas you want to share.
Another amazing evening at Proxi! So family friendly and accommodating...a delicious menu with so many complex flavors but fun and beautiful presentation. We’ll be back and if you haven’t been...you MUST GO!
The food was great and the service attentive. The space is lovely. We had great bites from around the world. The drinks were well balanced.
Everything was beyond delicious as usual
