Post-opera/Ash Wednesday dinner. So fun to sit at the counter and see the chefs at work. Chef Zimmerman was kind enough to describe dishes as they were coming up. All of the meatless options were amazing. Love this place!

Excellent meal - complex flavors to all the dishes blended beautifully. The vietnamese custard dessert was beyond scrumptious. Definitely adding this to our regular haunts.

We were lucky to get a spot at the chefs table with a last minute request. Watching the food come out of the kitchen with personal narration by chef Andrew gave us an extra special meal. We followed our server Naomi’s recommendations and went home with no regrets. Make this your new “must do” in the west loop.

Food and drinks were delicious, and our server was really knowledgeable about the menu. The space felt bigger than expected but it's nicely designed and appointed. We had a table not far from the door, but felt fine there -- not drafty or inconvenient in any way. Be prepared to spend, as it's easy to do.

Had another outstanding meal at Proxi. We had too many dishes to list, but the swordfish, short rib and a pork dish I can't remember what they called it were standouts. That said, there wasn't a single dish that was anything less than perfectly prepared and delicious. Can't wait to go back.

We dined at Proxi on NYE when they were serving a prix fixe menu and it was phenomenal. This time we came back to try the regular menu. It did not disappoint. We had the coconut beets, lentil dumplings, scallops, shrimp pork imperial rolls, wagyu short ribs and tandoori lamb chops! Everything was amazing!!! New favorite spot.

The food was mediocre;
Small plates are a nice idea as long as everyone has the same dietary restrictions. Put one vegetarian at the table and small plates don’t work.
But they didn’t do anything to accommodate that and have all plates come out at the same time.
Service was bad our waited seemed like he did not care one bit.
Kind of pricy for what it is - competes with halfway decent bar food menu wise but Michelin star wallet wise.
The whole “street food from all over the world” is interesting in theory but really proof of a lack of creativity in your kitchen.

We first visited Proxi last summer and had an all around awful experience. The food was bad, the waiter was arrogant, I could go on and on. My friend and I revisited it this past week and we could NOT have had a BETTER experience. Abraham, our waiter, was attentive, smart and knowledgable and the food was OUTSTANDING. We will be back!

My boyfriend and I loved Proxi. We both love cooking and have high standards for food, and were very pleased with our reservation here.

We came from out of town to celebrate an anniversary. It has a lively vibe; it is upscale but not white tablecloth, suit & tie upscale. Be advised that it is a bit dark and quite noisy (in a bustling & energetic way... not a loud, obnoxious way), which I think is good for a special occasion but not if you're looking to have a quiet, intimate conversation.

Plates are small and somewhat pricey, but three were enough to fill us up. We thought the beef Waygu short rib was one of the best, if not the best, pieces of meat either of us have ever had. We also enjoyed the grilled pork very much (which I forgot to get a picture of... ate it too fast), and the mung bean dumplings.

The cocktails were also EXCELLENT. We ordered a few, but our favorite was the Shania... it was both of our first experiences trying a warm cocktail, and it was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend also enjoyed Spill the Tea, and I loved the Hendrick's gin & tonic, which was huge!

This is a great place to go for a nice dinner or to celebrate a special occasion if you're looking for a restaurant that's classy, but not your typical candlelit steak dinner. We will certainly be back.

It’s not hard to understand what they are trying to accomplish at Proxi, however, the execution is just not there. Service was spotty. I had to ask for our waiter three times during our meal. The food was interesting in theory but many items were overdone on smokiness and spice. Unless they tighten things up, I’m not sure this place will be a going concern.

Food very average, restaurant really loud. Service was slow and he never came back to even ask for a second drink. Told my wife when I came home I am glad this was on the company bill and not my personal bill. I would not recommend this restaurant. 3 stars but probably really 2-3.

Went there to check the food out and was satisfied with how to the point the meal was. The service was kind and as efficient or patient as you’d need. Definitely would recommend this place for dates and special occasions!

A fascinating menu which you have to pick carefully from or you’ll end up with a mish mash of flavours. Get it right and it’s a fabulous meal, and thankfully we did. The mussels are a must have dish and the rice cakes are delicious. Great service topped off a very good meal.

The food was terrific. Was catching up withsome I had seen in years and it was a bit noisy but you expect that in a vibrant place. Service was very patient with us, we were last to leave but had dessert and a final drink. Definitely will come again.

Loved food, atmosphere,vibe, the tapas/share approach. Curry flavor amazing, loved the beets, the pork, super --- you can skip the $45 stake, was a let down. Over all tastes were over the top!

Minuses
Wine list is super pricy, and lacks value. Our server seemed annoyed that we did not order 2 per person right away, we got asked/pushed 3 times to do that, so felt rushed. To order our 2nd bottle of $60/bottle wine and 3 round of food, we had to flag our server down, and it took a while. Desertes were all to odd.

the 2 tops are so close to each other and seated right next to each other that it completely destroys any sense of ambience or privacy. there are parts of the restaurants which are expansive and completely empty... so seating 4 dates right next to each other and within an earshot of each other shows that the restaurant really doesn't value 2 tops as much as it does bigger groups, or perhaps the entire management team has never gone on a dinner date to recognize that this is not a good idea! it felt awkward hearing everyones conversation without even trying to.

The plates are small and it’s a tapas style. You need to get at least 2 plates per person. The service was really great and the drinks were cool and interesting. The food was worth the experience even though it wasn’t my top 3. I really liked the mushroom and yuba noodle salad and the tres Lethe cake was delicious.

I loved everything about Proxi! The dining room has a beautiful, homey interior design. Additionally service was quick, personal and genuinely concerned about our experience. International street food is a favorite in my household and all the different, affordable and medium sized dishes enabled trying many different international flavors and delicacies.
