Great ambiance and food. Will be back again. The oysters were good but a little dry.
The food was awesome and fun to share with a big group. Specifically recommend the elote, thai basil pork, and the Bruja in the city cocktail. Loved the warehouse - chic vibes. Our waiter seemed a little grumpy and left us alone for a bit too long at times, but the other service (water, table clearing, etc.) was on point. Definitely would recommend this place to a friend.
Great food awesome waiter who took the time to circle everything on the menu Gluten free
I was disappointed in this spot. I love a good small plate restaurant and frequent them on a regular basis. Although I ordered over the suggested amount of plates, I left feeling hungry and unsatisfied. There wasn’t anything about the food that set it apart from other restaurants. I love coursed meals, as it gives you time to savor each plate, but courses were brought out with too significant of a time gap between them. Maybe the combination of items I ordered was wrong, but they all seemed extremely small and overall unsatisfying. As I said, I typically love this type of restaurant, but was left feeling underwhelmed by the entire experience. I will not be going back and do not recommend this spot.
We happened by Proxi by chance. Excellent choice. I love sharing and the small plates are easy to share. The mushrooms and noodles are fantastic as is the melon and cucumber salad. It’s a little loud but I did notice a room if you were to have a large group for business or special dinner. I will be back.
The first time we visited this restaurant, it was much better. The food seemed off, the service was uneven and it just didn't have the same quality as our first visit. We will probably try other places in the future.
Amazing food and cocktails! We enjoyed everything we ordered. Approx 2 dishes per person was perfect!
We ordered a number of dishes (vegetable, seafood and beef and duck and dessert), which we thought were outstanding, with the sole exception of the carrot salad. Service was a bit slow. Ambiance is warm and comfortable. I definitely recommend.
Our server was slow at first but, picked up speed. We waiting about 30 minutes for drinks when we first arrived. Once the food arrived it was paced very well.
Great inventive delicious food but seating is very close to other patrons and noise level is high
Each dish was so different, and so well executed. Best food I have had in a long, long time.
Ever craved some puri? This is not the place to eat them. Mine were rock hard, cold, and frankly inedible. The chickpea curry was delicious though. The place was empty for Sunday brunch and I can see why. It was overpriced, and the service was not especially good considering how many wait staff were standing around and how few diners were present.
Everything was wonderful! Great ambiance, great service. Love the small plates. And each dish and cocktail was better than the next! We will definitely be back.
Unique flavors in the food and the cocktails. Great service and good variety
The food and service were both excellent.
The food and decor were fantastic, but the experience left a lot to be desired. Our server never checked in on us through our entire meal. Our plates never changed for multi-course small plate style meal. There are plenty of other restaurants that provide incredible experiences with outstanding food.
Amazing food, best restaurant experience in Chicago!
Food was terrific. We were throughly impressed with every dish ordered.
The hostess working that night was rude and surly, from telling us to wait at the bar to escorting us to the table. Otherwise, the food and drinks were good. But with so many great restaurants in Chicago, this is not one I'd recommend to others.
My family and I truly enjoyed our meal here. The food is so flavorful and inventive. What a treat. We will surely be back.
I loved this restaurant. The flavors of all the dishes were amazing. The "small plates" weren't too small for the two of us. We ordered 5 or 6 things and felt the prices were moderate. We did have several drinks (it was my birthday!) so the price went up. But this was one of the best restaurants we've been to.
Our first visit: Everything was on point, from the cocktails and wine offerings to the incredible food and impeccable service. Each shared course was better than the previous, ending with dessert perfection. Highly recommend!
Tables are too close together. But food was interesting and delicious.
Grilled carrot salad and grilled mushroom and Yuma noodle salad outstanding. Mussels and Thai sausage really spicy- so be warned if you don’t like really spicy food-, Vietnamese crepes very good. Service excellent. Waitstaff very helpful in describing menu. Drink menu excellent.
Went for brunch on Saturday with my mom and sister, and while the service was inconsistent, the food was excellent.
My wife, our friends and I had an enjoyable dinner at Proxi. We shared some delicious small plates. The restaurant was bustling, and it seemed that our waiter was hurrying us a little bit.
What a great find! Can't wait to go back. We started with the Mung Bean Dumplings that are the perfect balance of flavors, you want to immediately order more but don't be fooled, the portion sizes here are perfect so you get a chance to taste a variety of dishes and you definitely leave satisfied. We followed it with the Burrata that was outstanding. My husband is more of a fish eater (and bigger eater) than me so it worked perfectly that he tried the Yellowtail & Pomelo Salad and the Seared Scallops. He enjoyed them both very much. The Grilled Wagyu Short Rib Kalbi is nothing short of spectacular. Every bite is delicous. The dish of all dishes, we both agreed, was the Black Pepper Pork. The perfect balance of the meat with the sides and sauces wrapped in butter lettuce is absolutely mouthwatering. If I lived or worked nearby, I would go for lunch once a week just for that dish. The service was amazing, very kind, informative, not rushed even though he had a lot of tables, and guided us through our choices perfectly. Again, this was a great find. First time we have been there and definitely not the last.
Wait staff was not very friendly nor knowledgeable. The unbelievable food made up for it, though. Drinks were great. Good for the experience. I did leave full despite having spent a pretty penny. Still it was a great night out
very good dishes. But we were celebrating our anniversary and they didn't prepare anything special
Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the scallops and the Kobe beef. Great ambiance inside and attentive wait staff. It is shared small plates and recommend 4 - 5 for two people.
The food and service were excellent. Waiter gave detailed food explanations and encouraged us to try new/old restaurant favorites. We were there for brunch and will look forward to returning an evening soon for dinner.
Came here on a Saturday night for dinner and ate at a hightop table by the bar. Service was extremely slow. Took forever for our server to come over and take our drinks. My friend got the Bruja in the city and I got the Hendricks. Both were very good. Ordered the tempura elotes, mussels and Thai sausage, stone bass, crepe, wagu short rib. The crepe and the short rib were the stars. Both very flavorful and so good. Service still was very slow throughout dinner. We kept having to track down our server. Overall, food was good, but I would not come back if the service was this slow considering the restaurant was not overall busy.
The food was great and I would go back, but the service was not up to par. The poor service started with the host who seemed more interested in his carry on suitcase than seating customers. Then our server seemed to be 'put off' having to serve us. I'm in the service industry, and I understand that some days you aren't feeling it, but at those prices you need to be able to fake it. I feel bad for the chef, he did his part, the food is amazing, its front of house that is ruining it
Food is delicious, but overpriced for the small portions. The total bill was well over $600 and people left hungry.
We ordered 5 dishes, one was good (yellowtail), scallops were good but only two- not worth the price, the carrots, oysters and grilled pork were not good. The service was just OK as well, definitely not as attentive as I would expect for a place like this. I doubt I’ll be back.
Hands down one of the best meals my wife and I have ever had. Proxi's small plates beg you to really explore the full menu. Everything is coursed out intelligently. Each plate is beautifully served and inviting. if I were to be even slightly critical... the best I could say is that it should be illegal to order only ONE plate of the tempura elotes.
Delicious food. Every dish was great. Interesting and good drinks. Nice atmosphere. Overall bill less than I expected- very reasonable. Totally recommend and will go back soon. Bar area really nice, too.
Great food --waiter gave great advice and the wine was spectacular
First dinner in Chicago and it was amazing :)
Came to celebrate a birthday with friends who are foodies. Everyone was impressed by the food, drinks, and ambience. I felt like I tried flavorful and creative food influenced by the cuisine of different countries. A friend who never eats raw fish and isn’t fond of fish in general tried the Yellowtail and Pomelo Salad (with raw yellowtail) and loved it. The restaurant’s overall feel was chic without being too trendy. I would go back again even though it’s pricey.
