A dining room built around a pivotal instrumental element, a mammoth wood- burning oven designed to churn out anything with smoky traces and a pizza-like crust. All urban rusticity, patrons will find themselves in a convivial space where confident food is served in a relaxed atmosphere.

Subtle and polished, “Provisions” aims to serve properly sourced ingredients through thoughtful presentation. My wife and I split a bread and cheese appetizer, a salad and a pasta entree. It wasn't enough food for me. We should have bought separate entrees.

The cocktails and the service were very good.

All things considered however, it was not a good buy for the money.

Impeccable food and service as always! I've eaten here over 20 times and I remain impressed by the meticulous food preparation that always results in a marvelous dining experience (lunch & dinner). Excellent wine list with excellent insight from Angela! Make reservations STAT if you haven't eaten here yet.

We had been to both sides of the restaurant several times in the past and had a wonderful experience. This time, the service really let the restaurant down. The restaurant was not busy, not sure what happened, if the waiter forgot about us, but we were completely through with our bread and had to ask twice to eventually get our drinks. He also completely forgot to put in the appetizer. We ended up cancelling everything and leaving because the waiter clearly was uninterested in taking care of our table. Not sure when/if we will be back. It's unfortunate because the chef here is talented.

Dined at Provisions for Easter Brunch. Ate the most wonderful cinnamon rolls and enjoyed Halibut as my entree. The entire Brunch left me wanting to return to Provisions to try the daily ment. Loved the space and the bar looked inviting. Will return soon.

Service was poor as the server kept getting confused and having to go to his manager to review menu options.

Also I think they go too far with food on the menu being a bit too radical. Waffles had a foie gras “syrup” which was terrible! Don’t try so hard!

Grand Budapest - rye based cocktail, similar to a Sazerac.
Fistful of dollars - a bourbon based cocktail, similar to a Manhattan.
Wakame sesame boule, umeboshi mostarda, prairie breeze cow milk cheese - The bread had a soft interior, dark burnished exterior, but wasn't very flavorful. The wakame (dried seaweed seasoning) tastes like old dead fish; unappetizing. The umeboshi mostarda is a dried Asia plum/apricot fruit & mustard seed oil made into a spread, a mashup of the Italian mostarda di frutta & an Asian fruit; tasty. The cow's milk cheese from Iowa was also tasty.
Cauliflower soup/curried golden raisins almond/kaffir - delicious; very rich & thick; the curried raisins were surprisingly tasty; best part of the meal.
Pea shoot salad/crispy ham/almonds/apple cider vinaigrette - also very good; the pea shoots were chewier than expected - more like parsley steams rather than tender cilantro stems, but very tasty; well balanced flavors; second favorite part of the meal.
Cresta di Gallo pasta/hen of the woods mushrooms/roasted yeast/Parmesan - OK flavor, but unappetizing appearance, with components all shades of beige/brown. Better to have had the pasta on the bottom, the mushrooms atop, & dollops of Parmesan foam around/atop; instead, presented all mixed together in a bowl with the foam/crema poured on, looking like baveuse (the French term for dog slobber).
Butternut squash Campanelle pasta/venison ragu/pickled pumpkin/gremolata - woefully underwhelming; the venison ragu contained a lot of venison, but it was stringy & unappetizingly tough; there was an unsettlingly prominent sweetness throughout the flavor profile; not sure where it was from since the individual pieces of pickled pumpkin weren't sweet; maybe they used orange zest in the gremolata? Wouldn't choose this again.
We declined dessert.
There are too many other restaurants in Houston where we can spend $160 for 2 for a better meal. We won't quickly return.

Had pretty high expectations; needed help understanding program and hard time finding something that sounded good. Did not know one single wine on list, but ended up with decent Sauv Blanc albeit well over $100. Had several dishes, none of which we finished or which carried any reward ... would like to learn what I missed or why others like this place. Excellent, friendly service made for a decent evening - one time only, no repeat.

Angela was delightful and had wonderful wine recommendations. Our server was on point, made a good cocktail recommendation for my wife, and the food was very good. My gripe is with the ambience. The restaurant got very hot very quickly, and this was remedied thanks to attentive wait staff (bussers/waiters/management) but I got one good sweat early on. The biggest complaint I have is the noise. It was either a faulty vent hood in the kitchen, or more likely the HVAC unit. The restaurant was about half full and you couldn't hear the music due to the constant "WOOooom WOOoom WOOoom" of whatever was making the noise. My wife and I spent about $230 including tip. We expect a better environment than that from a place like Provisions. Given that those were the only complaints, we love the place and will definitely return.
Again - the staff was excellent and the food very good. We even got to try the pasta, by accident! And it was fantastic. We had the bread and cheese (some airy loaf with grains? on top with a firm cheese and berry spread underneath), the caesar we split (so good, sopping wet with dressing and the "breading" on the lettuce was so nice, like a crouton with each bite), and the ribeye with that "stew-like" sauce/mushrooms/potatoes was great.

Unique dishes, good drinks. The parmesan pasta with mushrooms & yeast was fantastic, and the bread/cheese pairing was great. Salad with cumin vinaigrette was really tasty. The mussels didn't really shine in comparison to the rest of the food but still good.

I think there was an issue with waitstaff that night- they were super nice but very flakey. Took over 30 minutes to get our drink order.

The food was very good but limited for anyone with diet restrictions.

This was my fourth of fifth time to eat here and it never disappoints. The bar area is comfortable and inviting and they have a great wine list with informed recommendations from the bartender. I was there for a business meeting and the place was about half full. It can get a little noisy when full but this wasn't an issue. Provisions is casual and comfortable. The Pass is where you want to be for truly fine dining. It's fantastic as well. We had a pea shoot salad on a pureed butternut squash that was quite tasty. The curried cauliflower soup is one I order everytime. We had the halibut and a Japanese pancake. Everything was perfectly prepared. The menu changes often so if you've been recently don't worry, you'll find something new. The service was just right--not hovering and not absent. Kaleb was our server and he was perfect for us. Sean is the manager and he checked in several times to make sure we were well taken care of. I'll be back!

The food was very "artsy" but, in the end, not very delicious. It was also very expensive for what we got. Two soups, one salad, and one entree (no drinks) cost more than $60. That's too much for lunch, especially when it doesn't taste very good.

Disappointed on our first and only visit. Bar selection and service was exceptional but everything went downhill from there. The noise level was near unbearable in the dining area such that two couples actually left shortly after being seated. On the food, I was amazed they allow no alterations to their pizza. My wife simply wanted arugula added to her pizza but was told the kitchen will not change their presentation. That coupled with the fact that there is no salt and pepper available to the diners reveals a level of arrogance in the kitchen that may not be sustainable long term.

Having been to Provisions many times over the past three years for work lunches, family dinners, work dinners, etc., I have always gravitated here because of their appreciation for quality food and pride in their ability to take care of their customers. Sadly, they’ve lost their mojo and have fallen off my list. Way to pretentious, unwilling to accommodate my guest who had some food allergies, and an attitude of “we made the menu, if you can’t find something to eat then SOL”. I have seen the vibe and priorities change over the last six months and am now moving on after 4-5 experiences that were reminiscent of dining in Dallas. By the way, we went to Artisians where they made my guest a great meal, ensured the food allergies were understood and addressed, and have a new loyal patron.

Dined at this restaurant prior to going to the theater in downtown Houston. The food was okay but something we would expect to eat at home. My fish was suppose to be lightly grilled but wasn't and a very small portion. My wife's fish was bland. The waitress and service was excellent.

We’ve been there for lunch and we’ve been very disappointed.
The salad was flavorless and served with no dressing or so little that I couldn’t taste it. Pasta was good although very rich. We had to ask for bread to complete our meals as the servings were really small for entrees. Bread was really good but charged $4.
Our waiter was friendly and answered all our questions about the meals.
This has been a very underwhelming experience, especially considering the price.

Had a fantastic lunch with my husband yesterday. Dale, our waiter, was great at giving suggestions and didn’t seem upset that we were sharing dishes to try multiple things. We haven’t experienced attention to time in many restaurants with dishes coming out at different times but Provisions was fabulous at this.

Not a fan of this experience, the first time that i was here was waaaaay better. I had gotten the hakusho (which is not cheap) last time and it was great. Yet somehow my bill came out less than this valentines "special". This time, the apps and the pasta were great. Especially the salad, 10/10 salad; but i got dirty plates that i had to change, and the bread that we ordered didnt come out til i asked. The duck confit was terrible... salty duck, the fennel was a mess. I ordered the steak medium (cause my date likes it that way) and it came out rare. Then the table next to us got their steak and it was noticeably larger than the steak my date got. I ordered another makers on the rock, and it was a very light pour... i get it, its valentines day.. but come on, youre already charging an arm and a leg. Then the ginger snap ice cream desert was crazy overpowering. On a whole nother level of gingersnaps. My date also had a headache and i inquired as to if yall had advil, every kitchen has a first aid kid and youre telling me you dont have some advil? And, even though it wasnt the best experience, i still gave 20%.

Took my girlfriend to Provisions for Valentine's Day. I enjoyed lunch here a few months ago but every course of the Valentine's meal was barely edible. It seemed like they were trying too hard to create completely new tastes and combinations and making them in bulk without taste testing. Underwhelming, especially considering the price. We were really happy with the wine our waiter recommended though.

A good dinning experience overall. Interesting flavors on most dishes. They sent us a pasta dish that we didn't order and it was left for us to try it at no charge. The one we ordered was promptly delivered to our table.
Noise level a bit on the high side but it's a fun place to go with a group.

I haven't been to Provisions for a couple of years and was disappointed. On walking in the dining room, we were greeted by a rank smell. Very unpleasant.

The menu is a jumble of cuisines, meant to be inventive, but lacking in an overall cohesive theme. This was amplified by the timing of our meal--everything was brought to the table too fast and many of the items we ordered didn't work together. A slower pace would have allowed us to taste everything individually and appreciate more.

The server took away my husband's drink before he was finished; grabbed my plate of food and my friend's before we were finished. Not good. Everything was way too rushed.

Provisions came highly recommended by a friend and we will be recommending it as well. Provisions is a great compliment to The Pass with an equally amazing atmosphere and value while having a totally different experience.

My wife and I showed up early to our reservation so that we could have a drink at the bar before hand. The cocktail program is very good and its creativity ties in well with the rest of The Pass & Provisions. We split an order of bread and cheese, cauliflower soup, and butternut squash pizza for dinner. All of the portions were big enough to share and each dish was delicious. We also had another cocktail during dinner.

We will be back and will be suggesting Provisions to others.

Great dining experience from the atmosphere, the vibe, the service and the food and drinks. The menu seems limited but our waiter did a great job of explaining the different items and how best to order for sharing among our group of 4. We had two pasta dishes and one main course shared between 4 of us which was more than enough after having the bread and cheese pairings and a shared pizza. The pasta dishes were outstanding and very, very unique- this is not your typical Italian fare so if you are picky or want the "basics", you will probably not enjoy the available options. However, if you are willing to try new foods and flavors you will love the flavor combos they have put together.
