Subtle and polished, “Provisions” aims to serve properly sourced ingredients through thoughtful presentation. Whether dining at the bar where expert cocktails and a broad wine list are available to wash down seasonal menu items, or seated in the lush outdoor patio, diners will witness pizzas made with good ingredients married well, roasted meats, and fresh pastas surfacing from a wood fired oven, all cooked in hot fragrant smoke.
Menu is unclear as far as what is apps, entrees, etc...
We were seated and then the hostess came back and told us she made a mistake and made us get up and wait while they cleared a table. It was very awkward and i didn’t like it. We did make reservations days before so it’s not like we were walk ins.
I’m also pretty sure that one of the items we ordered was given to the table to us by mistake because they were sat after we ordered but received the dish before we did. All that said, our waiter was great. These things were not his fault and the food was pretty good.
Bad service started us off poorly. It took around 15 mins to get our drink order in. The waitress also missed one course we ordered. Food quality varied from very good and great presentation to a mess and undercooked pasta.
Food, service and atmosphere was great. No complaints.
Friendly and pro staff, awesome food, amazing creative cocktails, and no obnoxious patrons.
I liked the Uni pizza, and it was hilarious that they served the pina colada in an actual pineapple. That made a great conversation piece. The place had awesome ambience and the Uni pizza was delicious.
Very friendly staff, excellent food and presentation was top notch. Wine pairings were excellent and the staff was very knowledgeable.
Food and service is usually good. Every time we’ve visited, though, we’ve been told strange things... like they couldn’t cut a burger in two, or that they don’t carry chicken or salmon to add as a protein to salads.
Delicious. Excellent dinner. We were most impressed on how the kitchen did not rush the dinner. Entrées came out slowly so that we could enjoy the meal. Loved the Brussel sprouts, pizza, 2 kinds of pasta (the mushrooms pasta was AWESOME), ham and bread. Reservations were nice and hanging in the bar for cocktail was lovely as we arrived early. Can't wait to come back.
Server was fantastic, food was amazing!! Will be back
Loved everything, especially the Cresta Di Gallo. Awesome spot!
Provisions was great for a date and trying some new foods. Our favorites were the bone marrow pizza and duck terrine. Will definitely head back for a second visit!
Always excellent food. Service courteous
Food was very good, service was a little slow and we ended up canceling our dessert order because it didn't arrive in time before we had to leave to see our show.
There was a frayed metal wire under the table that I cut my finger on, and no one seemed to really address my dining experience, bit disappointing. Our waitress was constantly rushing, and stressed, making me feel uneasy and not able to relax and enjoy the dining experience. The squid ink dish pasta with broth was served to us on flat plates, so the soupy broth was running everywhere and should have been served in a bowl perhaps. The carrot waffle was disappointing, dry, no real flavor, and again the wrong flatware was served, fork instead of spoons for the ice cream accompaniment. I expected higher standards, just in general. But overall the food was good.
Brunch doesn’t get any better with a baked egg & meatball dish that I hope stays on the menu forever! Louder than usual due to a couple of adorable toddlers with a lot to say.
We were a large party and they were awesome!
Everything we ordered was excellent. I have already forgotten our servers name unfortunately but she was amazing. My only beef and I guess it’s pretty small would be small plates. I thought they were passé...
I made our reservation based on the internet description of the restaurant and some online reviews. However, I saw a negative review just before our visit and began to worry about my choice. We stayed the course. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary; I had told them about our special celebration. Well, they treated us great, provided excellent food along with a cinnamon pastry for dessert. We loved the experience! We'll definitely be back!!
Great NYE experience! The main veggie dish chickpea dumplings was a little lackluster and salty but everything else was divine.
Unfortunately we did not have the experience we were hoping for and for the value. We went on probably one of the busiest nights, New Years Eve do I understand things would be slower. However we didn’t understand why it took us 3 hrs and 45 mins to complete our four course meal from a small designated menu. I appreciate not being rushed, but we almost didn’t make it to our next stop for midnight and out reservation was at 8pm. Decent food, but we were too distracted by the Lon process to truly enjoy the experience. Everyone around us seemed to have similar feelings.
Very disappointing. Prefix menu was different than website. Took over 2 hours. Note we had a 6:30 reservation. Was empty when we arrived. Extremely loud. You are practically sitting on top of people next to you. Finally asked for last course to go. Did not have beer listed on menu . Was given wrong check.
Asked to speak to manager she was dismissive. Dessert was not edible.
Was hoping for a good meal.
When arriving we were a bit disappointed that it was only a Sunday supper menu and not the regular choices. However the dinner proved to be very tasty so we left very happy. Good value for money deal.
Went here for my birthday and had a wonderful time! Amazing pizza & pasta and the ham of the day stole the show. Cocktails and service we’re also exceptional!
Excellent pizza. The pizza crust is crisp outside and soft inside with creative and tasty toppings.
Overall very good meal - wish the menu had a bit more options for larger shareable entrees (beyond the pizza and pasta choices).
Love this restaurant and come for their elevated dinner, great happy hour and cozy bar scene. It’s hard to find a quiet restaurant in a Houston and this is one of the best.
Sunday Supper was a bargain. Same quality food as usual with human-sized portions. Treated friends from out of town and they were blown away by the quality at the price point. Always a little noisy. Service is always a little loose/tight.
Great place. Can’t wait to try it again
I went with two kids and they were very accommodating, and the food was excellent. The octopus dish was really good, and so was the steak, the duck confit pizza and the iced coffee cake desert.
Dinner are Provisions was delicious. The bread with the butter was so good and adding the prosciutto was a great addition. Ask about the specials of the night it made me change my mind from a wonderful fish to an interesting veal pasta dish that was like nothing I've had before and would like to have again. Dessert was also wonderful but I wish I would have known there was a special for dessert before I ordered while mine was good it was one of their staples the special was something they don't have often and something I wish I could have had. ( our waitress seemed new but she tried really hard and would ask questions if she didn't know the answer which I approved vs just giving an answer.)
Fantastic! Definitely recommend!
We went for our anniversary. We were immediately greeted with “happy anniversary” by the hostess who gave us each a free glass of sparkling wine on the house. Sunday supper was good and reasonably priced! Overall good experience.
Best meal, by far, from a long weekend in Houston/Galveston. Service exceptionally balanced knowledge, personality and attentiveness. Every component of each dish was meticulously executed. We enjoyed the Bloody Mary and local beer back, red oak salad ( deftly dressed and bursting with flavor), lamb dossa and ham o the day, with a warm baguette on the side with salt and thyme butter
Once again, Provisions left us completely satiated Saturday night - from the oysters to the last bite of dessert and all the wine in between. Can't wait to try their new Sunday supper menu.
One of Houston's best restaurants.
We had a bad experience! The food has decreased its quality, the service extremely slow and our waitress had an attitude. The food arrived before our cocktails, theybforgot the dressing on the salad, the pizza arrived burned. But the worst was the level of noise!! It was awful! We are young and we couldn’t stand it. The acoustics in the main dining room are terrible, we screamed at each other the whole night.
Why bother... Houston had too many great restaurants..
My friends and I had a wonderful experience. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious! I’ve never had a bad dish at Provisions. Fun note: the bathroom is delightful! The only detraction is the noise level as the dining area fills up. It can get pretty loud. However, I will note I was under and over hang close to a corner, which may have acted like an amplifier. Ultimately,
I had a great evening, and I will continue to recommend Provisions to people.
We stopped in before the theater and it was very good. The octopus was delicious and the tater tots with the dried cod was unique. The pate was amazing complete with cornishon and lovely wasabi mustard. The pretzel bread it was served with was also wonderful. Our only small quibble was with the pizza which was a nice size and beautifully presented but the ghost peppers which we understood were actually in the pepperoni were very hot. The wait person tried to qualify this beforehand, but everyone’s version of hot is different. Also, after the 2 dishes before, it was really too much food (6 decent slices.). So we removed some pepperoni and used some Parmesan to moderate the heat and we were OK. No dessert but it was tempting. They have a carrot cake waffle that looks great. So we will be back to try it. In all, a very satisfactory meal, and we had plenty of time to make it downtown. We will be back—
Went for the Sunday Dinner prix fixe and was very pleased. Antipasti appetizer was excellent with lovely, ultrathin-sliced prosciutto and salami, fresh bread and mixed olives. The salad was delightful and not over-dressed. The entrees were all excellent. I wasn't as crazy about the tiramisu, but my husband ate all of his. It was a great value and a great way to taste the variety of their menu. We highly recommend the Sunday Night Dinner!
