I've been a loyal customer for years.
However, I decided not to pay Providence another visit in the future due to the dropping quality and the sloppy quality control.
I took my girlfriend here on 03/17/2018 because this place used to be her favorite spot for French cuisine, but the overall experience we had that night? Terrible.
We ordered the seasonal menu, and three of them were complete disasters.
The first one was the Uni egg - the one in the eggshell.
The only two tastes I got from this dish were sour and garlic taste. I could not taste the uni nor the egg. epic fail.
The second disaster was the steam fish with the clams. The only taste I got was bitterness.
Not only they overcooked the wine but also burnt the fish skin. Could not taste the seafood at all, and I had to have two full cups of water to get rid of the bitterness.
The last disaster was the Wagyu beef. It was the most expensive dish on the seasonal menu, and the Providence chef had to burn the wagyu. The burnt end should add flavor to the beef. However, when I could only taste the burnt part instead of the wagyu, I rather there was no burnt end at all.
I've been a customer since 2010 and was first amazed. However, the quality really drops a lot especially in the past two years.
Not coming back for sure.
Overpriced for its food. Nothing too special...meh
Best restaurant we’ve been to by far. Service goes above and beyond
This is our yearly restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We’ve been coming for years and LOVE IT!
An incredible experience in every way!!
I represent the interests of multiple chefs with multiple Michelin stars, National and regional Beard Foundation awards, etc. Our meal on Tuesday, even without Chef Cimarusti actually at the pass, ranked among the best I have ever had, in every dimension. Certainly as to the food and its presentation, but also the service, which was seamless, informative, fun and virtually invisible all at once. A pitch-perfect evening all around. A truly memorable dining experience, and well worth every penny spent.
The service was excellent and the food was phenomenal! It is quite pricey, but for such high quality and intricate dishes, it was worth it!
One of the absolute best restaurant experiences of my dining life. The service, the food, the presentation were all amazing. I highly recommend the chefs tasting menu!
Great experience. Professionalism is there best quality and there customer service and food will leave you stunned
Some of the best meals I have had dining out were Michael's creations going back to Water Grill days. This meal was right up there.
Wonderful staff, scrumptious culinary masterpieces (we did the 7 course tasting), and impeccable service. Nothing disappointed. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, they bring out the next course with wonderful full presentation.
Some of entree were bit salty for me. But overall great food
One of the nicest dining experiences I’ve ever had
Food was good but not great fore the price. Service was great.
It is amazing!!!
Food taste good，but the sauce were a little bit heavy for us. However，I would like to go back again！ Nice night.
Best restaurant in Los Angeles. The chef accomplishes his mastery with fresh sophisticated melodies of flavor with richness yet a cleaner clearer tone. The presentations are arty without being pretentious. What is done with seafood both fish and mollusks/crustacea is of particular note. The staff is wonderful. Formal and composed yet friendly and warm.
A very good restaurant serves awesome food! Highly recommend!
Great service and amazing crafted cusine~!!! 💕
I will take my date at special occasion. The Chef room was fun to watch the cooking scene.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience at Providence! The food was absolutely amazing, service was excellent, and the wine pairing was fantastic!
The only minor concern, was that the table to the right of us was a bit loud so it was often difficult to hear...but this is obviously not an issue with the actual restaurant or staff!
The best dining experience I have been able to be a part of. Every dish was unique in its presentation and the wine was paired and presented beautifully. Their A5 Japanese Wagyu has been the best I have tried.
We were celebrating a birthday and when we arrived we were told that the chef’s table (a private table with a view of the kitchen) had become available due to a last-minute cancellation. This was a truly special experience, with an amazing perspective on the food preparation and incredible service! The food was predictably varied and delicious, especially the remarkable amuse bouche options! We highly recommend the chef’s table experience!
Delicious food and superb service!
Always amazing. Hands down best and most consistent restaurant.
I can't rave enough that this special birthday lunch felt truly special. All the gratis starters that came beautifully presented was a true treat. The wait staff was impeccable friendly and very attentive. The flavors were wonderful. The only downside - I felt the room was not commensurate with the experience. It felt cheap and spartan.
Christmas gift from our son. Everything was delicious and interesting. We had never experience a tasting menu where everything was prepared with such care.
This is without a doubt the best restaurant in LA. Absolutely excellent cuisine; had the tasting menu which ended up being more like 18 courses. Not a single course was mediocre, every course was excellent. Lovely ambience and service as well. Hat off for Chef Micheal.
Had the Chef's Menu. 17 courses of magic. Make sure to not eat anything that day before dinner as it kills in both flavor and volume
Had a great dinner with my fiance
Wagyu was so good!
The dinner did live up to the hype. I expected WOW food. The food was very good but not a single course was spectacular. Very disappointing especially given the cost. I would not recommend.
Went here for dine LA and to celebrate my birthday. ^_^
Booked two weeks ahead.
Got the Dine LA menu.
They serve three amuse bouche before the starter. I really enjoy the amuse-bouche very pleasant. They serve two starters: Nancy day boat sea scallop and Vermilion rockfish. It was good but not memorable. The rcokfish is good if they didn't burn the fish skin. The taste of burnt skin is too strong, I couldn't taste the fish. Eggplant pure is good, it doesn't taste eggplant.
They serve free bread before the main dish. I love free bread!! =P
For main dish I got Liberty farm duck.
Theres part of the duck I got very chewy that I can't swallow it and I have to spit out, don't want to choke myself.
Tried Rodolphe le meunier black truffle brie additional $20. Truffle cheese is decent except for the bread its burnt, AGAIN! Smh!
Dessert: Satsuma-imo, yuzu, creme fraiche its really good. Not too sweet, love the chewy and crunchy.
All in all food is good.
Ambiance is boring. Very deemed nothing special. I think Bazaar by Jose Andres they have the best ambiance for a fancy restaurant.
Service is disgusting. The server tried to clean our table by scraping all the crumbs. Instead of catching all the crumbs she(server) drop all on my chair. SERIOUSLY?!!! I wanted to call the manager so bad but I feel bad for the server. Also, when they refilled my water they filled up my cup full. When I tried to get my water to drink the water is spilling because it was that full.
Very disappointed specially they know I'm celebrating my birthday and this is my first time here. Horrible experience for a finest restaurant.
This restaurant USED to have two Micheline stars on 2009 for this kind food and service I experienced they don't deserve to have Michelin stars. Not worth of coming back and I don't recommend this restaurant.
everything is good but the noise
Should be able to give more than 5 stars to this place. They went all out, even for a discounted DineLA menu. Outstanding all around.
Incredible. I would go once a month if I could. Everything went so smoothly. I felt so special being there. I can see why it’s on many lists of being one of the top restaurants in LA or the US.
Amazing great experience thank you providence
Pricey but worth it. Had the 4course Dine LA fixed menu which was more than ample because of the 5 amuse bouche.
Food was excellent from start to finish.
Providence is always perfect. For celebrating a special occasion, it always tops our list. A beautiful but comfortable restaurant with creative, delicious, sustainable food. The service is always impeccable, knowledgeable and attentive – friendly and never obsequious or pretentious. Our last meal there was fantastic, from the wide array of clever amuses through to the final petit fours.
Food was too salty, everything else was good.
The meal was flawless (as usual) and made our special occasion (Christmas present for both of our parents) absolutely perfect. This is fine dining at its best and remains one of my favorite restaurants in LA.
