Providence Bar and Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
I have been there several times but this time was clearly the best meal and service.
The food was very good...and nice portions. It's a small restaurant and very narrow so I think that it is always going to be a bit noisy...but not uncomfortably so.
Very welcoming. Nice wine list and good recommendations. The food was quite good.
The location was good and the ambience was nice, but the food was just ok. Nothing was particularly hot (temperature) and the taste of the food was nothing to write home about. We had ordered multiple appetizers and various entrees. The tuna and seemed to be the best and the drinks were good.
Despite multiple people in our party asking the staff to close the wide open door, the staff dismissed our pleas and insisted on bringing in numerous tables and chairs from the outside and then taking chairs and tables from the inside out to the patio. It was a frigidly cold night and we were truly shocked regarding the lack of conicociousness for our comfort (we were sitting right in front of the door). We asked them to simply wait 10 minutes and we would leave but they just didn’t care. Really disappointing end to an otherwise good meal.
Varied menu and great, fresh food. I like that the menu is not overly large but there are choices for everyone. They have happily accommodated some very particular dietary needs upon request. Service is consistently good. Very comfortable recommending. Would like to see the restaurant busier at lunch time - it's a gem.
The food was good but service was spotty. Shared with the manager or owner ( not sure as he never identified himself) about how the entire meal started.....small table meant for 2 people even though there were 4 of us, had to ask for them to split a salad, one came out with the dressing on the side for us to share???? And it was the wrong dressing! Then went through (no lie) 3 forks that were so bent out of shape it should have been embarrassing. The drink deliveries were slow and the two servers kept duplicating their drinks to the table.....what a waste of energy and money for the bar. My friend (we were celebrating her birthday) had to wait for a diet soda after asking twice for one. This manager said he’d take care of us....well we had dinner which was very good and ordered a dessert and one coffee. There wasn’t one comp on the bill for the crazy way the dinner started!?! So the manager swings by and I said thought you were going to “take care of us” he said for three forks??? Now it’s time you take care of me and chuckled as he walked off. Very unfortunate of him to have his excessive over confidence about people continuing to eat here. I know 4 people who won’t be coming back anytime soon.....not even for a free meal. Such a shame and poor way to end the birthday celebration dinner......how much could a dessert could have cost him....Maybe $3?? Never again....future patrons......you’ve been warned!
The food wasn't very good. Duck and veal tough. Tuna pizza not good. rice cake was burnt on bottom and barely warmed through while tuna on top wasn't identifiable. We were sharing a dessert and no fewer than 3 waiters tried to take it away- clearly hurrying us along. All in all, 7pm reservation for a Saturday night and was out in 1.5 hours. Not relaxing and not good food
I have been to Providence Bar & Kitchen many times & the food never disappoints!! The crab cake appetizer is loaded with crab & delicious. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive. I highly recommend NPB& K, you won't be disappointed 😋
Went to celebrate Mom's birthday. We all enjoyed our meals and cocktails. Staff is very attentive when you arrive, but then seemed to forget to give us a bill until we flagged them down. Don't get me wrong, we liked not being rushed, it was just a long time. Great place to enjoy an outside meal on a nice evening! Just don't pick the table in the corner by the empty beer kegs, the flies like it there. It would also be nice if the kegs were somehow out of sight.
I have been to Providence on many occasions and the food and service is always on point. From when you walk in until you leave, everyone makes you feel welcome and at home. I recently had my mothers 75th birthday party there and we were lucky to have nice weather and sit outside. Again food was delicious and staff attentive. Several of my family members had never eaten there before and were very pleased with their meals.
Providence Bar and Kitchen may be a bit expensive for a weekly drop in place, but the food is very good and the decor is pleasant. The outdoor seating is also a plus. We visited on Tuesday and it was surprisingly busy without many wait staff, so service could have been a bit quicker - drinks and water were slow coming to our table. That said, the server was nice, reasonably helpful, and the order was accurate, delivered to us at the right temperature, and very good.
We went on a Sunday night at 6. With the exception of 2 people inside, everyone was outside eating. I would guess that there were about 50 people in total eating. Food wise, there were no issues. The food tasted good and I was pleased. I felt it was overpriced for what was received. I order the Branzino and it look like it was maybe half of a fish for $29.00. I was hungry leaving.
My main complaint was the service. It took almost 2 hours to have a dinner with 8 (4 kids and 4 adults) people. The staff came to the table maybe once every 20-30 minutes and then didn't always follow through on what was asked. I had asked for water and it never came originally. The kids wanted to leave and never go back. The staff were definitely working. I don't want to imply they were lazy. They were either understaffed or had some issues. I saw a total of 4 people working.
Service accommodating but not cloying. Everyone could use bit more experience to get to next level. Very pleasant staff but little things make the difference. Example - vegetable purée brought with bread should be introduced and patrons asked if they want butter or EVOO. Runner got 1/2 the table wrong when bringing food out. Little things. Floor manager on top of things but should temper his admonishments to staff, be more encouraging and positive with them. Could use another runner. Facilities were very clean -- always a good sign.
Drink and food menu very good. Wine selection a bit small and priced a shade too high. Bar traffic looked good. Food was good to very good. I had veal. Quality of ingredients very good but not excellent. Huge portions. Prep was a little tough. Maybe a result of overcrowding on the size on a pan. Would prefer slightly smaller portions with uptick in quality.
Indoor noise level fine though space not huge. TV area separate from general dining and doesn't interfere. Outdoor area looked very nice with adequate staff.
Pricing seemed fair overall though a bit above average for area.
Will likely go back.
The meal started on a high note. The bread, veggie spread, and arugula salad were excellent. But my chicken dish was disappointing, overall. The bone-in chicken was tasty and plentiful, but the accompaniments were a muddled mess. The flavors of bacon, potato and mushrooms were lost in a kind of mashed potato stew.. My husband's pasta dish was a better choice--but nothing different or better than we find at other area restaurants.
The servers, pace of service, and ambience were all quite good. I think we will give this restaurant another try and figure out the best entrées to order.
