Good but nowoverpriced food and wines. Six tiny meatballs which might make ameatball n 1/2 at an italian restaurant for theprice was a poor value. Same with duck breadt special - poor value. Cake on providence dessert was dry
We are regulars at Providence Bar and Kitchen’s sister restaurant, Bistro Seven Three in Bernardsville. We’ve been wanting to try Providence Bar and Kitchen for some time. We met friends there on Saturday night and it was a wonderful, delicious, memorable evening. Benito, the manager, greeted us as we arrived and we had cocktails at the bar, served by Tom the Bartender, before going to our table for a fantastic meal. Great evening, delicious food and before we knew it, 4 hours had gone by! I highly recommend the Braised Short Ribs, Chicken Scarpielo, and the always wonderful Sushi Pizza. Great evening with great friends at a homey yet hip restaurant. We’ll be back!
Great food, amazing service! Nice variety of entree selections. Delicious cocktails...nice that it’s not a BYO.
Worst meal ever. Appetizers were cold and tasteless. We didn't even given dinner a chance because the apptz were so bad. The bus boy kept asking to take our plates when we said each time we were still sitting, finally he reached over and took my husbands plate. That's when we decided to leave. We will definitely not be back!
Great food and best margaritas in the area if not all of NJ. Tommy is the best bartender there is and Benito is the greatest proprietor going. Amazing staff too including Anna. Can’t say enough about how perfect this place is- and we go here all the time. Never ever disappointed.
Service was wonderful, the restaurant is beautiful and it was a great place to celebrate a birthday.
We love coming here for dinner. The ingredients are consistently fresh, and the menu is varied. The drink menu is fun and innovative. The staff is very friendly and the ambiance is great, especially for the area. Have come here for multiple occasions and will keep coming back.
Good selection. Our appetizer and main course were very tasty.
Our first visit to Providence Bar was on a Tuesday evening in late August. We were surprised by how busy the place was. The service was welcoming and attentive. When the server could not answer a question about a menu item, he immediately asked the chef. We expected good food and were not disappointed. In fact, the quality of our starters (eggplant rollatini and hennessey stuffed mushrooms), main dishes (veal fuccello and branzino) and deserts ( chocolate cake with gelato and creme brule) exceeded expectations. Portion sizes were very generous and the cocktails were not watered down. This was a dining experience we have not had in New Providence since the demise some years go of two old favorites: Aquila and Chez Z.
Love this place....the ambiance, the delicious food, the drinks! Best place to eat in the New Providence-Summit-Berkeley Heights area.
This place was just what we were looking for quiet perfect food and our waiter was great. Language barrier with the female waitress but it was fine!
Cool vibe, nice space inside and outside, very nicely done mediterranean style food. Great bar and friendly staff.
This was a return visit but not as positive as our previous visits. Although the meat ball and calamari appetizers were tasty and bountiful, the fish dish was quite disappointing and lacking in flavor. The chicken dish was dry.
Outdoor setting was quite comfortable and appealing under perfect weather conditions.
very good food and truly excellent service in a nice setting. tweaked the menu to our tastes with no problem
Service and food were great
The owners are amazing. They will address any concerns and go above and beyond for you.
Great food and great staff!
Had dinner here with my wife once and since we liked it, I've decided to take my parents for lunch here. It was a completely different experience.
The food looked and tasted mediocre to bad. We left half of it on the plate and my father didn't even want to touch the "creamed spinach with cheese" that looked pretty scary.
I assume the kitchen during lunch time is run by anyone but the chef and the result is that any slightly complicated dishes were just not good.
The best dish was a cauliflower salad. Anything beyond that... just not good and doesn't justify the ~200$ for this lunch we've left there.
The food was very good. A little expensive for a chopped iceberg salad at $13.00. When iceberg lettuce is $1.19 in ShopRite.
The pork shank was delicious. Highly recommend the desserts.
We went for Father’s Day dinner. We had gone for dinner there before and were not overwhelmed with the quality of food. Have to say this time was not great either. The food was below quality. The burger was dry and over cooked and tasted like it was in a grease fire. The steak was cooked to temp but was also tasting of grease fire. The short rib ravioli was just ok, nothing to write home about, and the macaroni and cheese was mediocre.
We don’t think we will be dining there again. I don’t feel we got good quality food and my husband feels the same way. Such a shame because we had high hopes for this restaurant to be successful and different than the others in town.
Went for Father's Day, 7 of us all together. Rarely do grandkids finish their entire meal but this time they did: hanger steaks and tuna. Everyone enjoyed a few shared appetizers. Mojitos and a manhattan starts were well made too. Adults enjoyed their meals; no room for desert. The back patio has no view but has been made visually appealing. Would visit again but they compete with many nearby BYOBs but not with their variety of food.
What a great meal. We had not been there since they changed their format. The patio dining was great. The drink specials were inventive and the dinner options were amazing. Highly recommended.
Everyrhing was delicious. We were all very happy. We sat outside. I wish the table was a little bigger it was hard for four people.
Everything was excellent, beautiful place excellent food and service!
The food was delicious and beautifully plated. Service was excellent. Such a tiny hidden gem with lovely ambience. I’d recommend it in a heartbeat & am looking forward to returning.
We went on Memorial weekend for outside dining and it was lovely. Between the trees and the mural you would not believe you were in the middle of New Providence. The service was very good and helpful. The rolls were served with a special homemade sauce that was unexpected but very good. My husband and I both had different veal dishes and they were both very tender and flavorful. The veggies were great! Service was very good checking on us but not rushing us. Husband had tiramisu which was very good. We will come back!
Always love coming here. The salads we had to start were so good. Branzino entree was excellent. Very friendly and attentive staff.
I have been to Providence Bar & Kitchen many times & the food & service never disappoint. I had the Lamb Chop Special & it was delicious. They also do take out & have outside seating. Highly recommend.
We came in for my wife’s birthday for lunch. The first thing I noticed was how beautiful the space is - they have done a really great job in there. Our service was attentive and the food was excellent, my favorite was the coho salmon. My wife had the short rib rigatoni and said it was the best pasta she’d had in months! We will definitely be coming back very soon. Thanks to the owner and staff for making sure we had a great experience.
We were there for Mother’s Day and were very disappointed. At 7pm, they were out of bread, many of the specials and even some desserts. They did not seem prepared or well maintained.
We went the other day for Mother’s Day. The service is fantastic, attentive without being pushy. The food is delicious. We love going here.
Second time there. Very good, service was not as good as the first time, but people are very nice and food is great.
Local gem that puts New Providence on the map for good food lovers!
The sushi pizza was absolutely delicious and the perfect size for a meal!
Food was very good, for the most part. Unfortunately, the hostess was lazy in seating us. We told her our party of 4 was ready, then she proceeded to sit down herself at a table with a friend and drink for the rest of the night. We then were eventually seated and had the mispleasure of being waited on by Anna, who was most likely in the top 2 rudest waitresses of all time. She would interrupt at will, cut off your questions and rip the menu from the table. Worst part it wasn’t even crowded. On open table -there were no open tables supposedly until after 8:15, however when we got there, the place was about 1/3 full.
I am low maintenance, this place was lowest maintenance in service. Food was good though, so good luck.
I am always delighted with the attention and service and the great food at this wonderful neighborhood gem.
Excellent meal! Loved the option of sitting on the outdoor patio.
We originally had tried this restaurant last year and had a very bad experience. The owner felt bad and gave us a gift certificate to come back. We had avoided it but finally decided to give them another shot and boy were we impressed. So much better on all counts the food was unbelievable. They had a tuna Crudo that was the best appetizer I've ever had and my husband and I split Mediterranean chicken which was also very good. portions were large enough that we could each get an appetizer, split dinner and be very full. Service was good not great but other than that highly recommend it now. In fact we made another reservation to come back next weekend
Excellent meal. Nicely renovated. Great bar specials
Have dined here many times and one of the reasons we return again and again is the service, the ambience and the special dishes. The short rib rigatoni is our "go to" dish. Can't get enough of it.
