Very impressed with quality of our meals and the service
Friendly and efficient service, good quality food. Good choice for business lunch.
Great little neighborhood restaurant. Only complaints are that it is too small to accommodate many people and we were kept waiting despite a reservation. Also, it is EXTREMELY loud especially for the suburban setting, the bar and the restaurant are kept separated down to the menus so that is a detractor. All that said, the food is delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed everything!!
Overall very good experience. I expected a better table since the booking was an Open Table reservation.
No distinction made. We got the next available makeshift table.
We have eaten here a few times and brought friends with us and always enjoy it. The staff and owner are warm and friendly and the food is delicious.
I love this place. The wonderful bar, food, ambiance. Always consistent. Excellent food.
Love the consistency of good food and service....
A great find! Food was fantastic! We will be back!
Food was OK. We were seated outside which was a cool space but was very loud. At the end of our meal while waiting for coffee we were asked to switch tables to make room for a large part that was being seated. Would not go for dinner again- maybe just drinks and apps.
We went here for the first time on New Years Eve and had a great dining experience. It was crowded with people out for the holiday but the host couldn't have been nicer and seated us very quickly. Loved the eggplant with burrata appetizer as well as the Shrimp Francese and Braised Short Rib.
Dinner was delicious! I had the special. rack of lamb and it was done to perfection. I particularly liked the fact that when a small error was made with a salad it was corrected quickly and the manager stopped by to make sure that it had prepared to our taste.
Celebrating a birthday on New Years Eve
Always great food. Tried most dishes and like them all. Short Ribs Rigatoni, Chicken Scarpelo are great.
We had a great time. We were a large holiday family party of 11 and they accommodated everyone’s differing needs with smiles, humor and excellent service. Remains one of our favorite places to dine.
This was my and my husband's third visit (all special occasions) here, and they have all be great experiences. My two teenagers accompanied us this time for Christmas eve, and all four of us had delicious dinners. Steak Frittes, Veal Parmesan, Pan-Seared Black Bass, and Coho Salmon. Tiramisu was excellent dessert.
Great neighborhood addition as there are few restaurants like this in New Providence - especially with a full bar, nice ambiance and good service. The appetizers are yummy especially the eggplant burrata and stuffed mushrooms. As with most Italian restaurants, the meat dishes are a little more interesting than the pastas so it is best to order a mix and share with a group. I had the Chicken Martini which was really great, although the mashed potatoes were a bit bland. In our group we also had the Sesame Ahi Tuna and the Branzino - both were very good. For desert, I had the Tahitian creme brulee which was lovely. We also tried the Cheesecake which was too heavy for my taste - I prefer a lighter baked cheesecake. Deserts come in big portions so best to share. They have a decent wine selection although it could be better with more international wines, although our Chianti was great. Will definitely be back!
Superb food and service! Friendly crew that makes you feel welcome. Convenient parking.
The ambience was nice and casual. For what they still had left to serve the food was good. The waiter was bit quirky but also had a little bit of an attitude. Not what you'd expect from someone representing the restaurant. Keep in mind that we had a pretty large tab going with bottles of wine, etc. but he didn't seem to care. I'd go again for a quick bite, but not for a business dinner.
This was a frustrating visit -- it's tempting to say that there was a problem with the service, but it's more correct to say that that was a specific problem with service to our table. Our server was always in motion, making frequent touches to other tables that we could see, offering bread/water service, making sure things came out as ordered, etc. It was like we were invisible. After seeing another table offered bread, we eventually were able to flag him down and request bread and water, and after a few reminders they came out.
We were seated in the bar area, and about a minute after I noted that it was nice to be in a bar with big TV screens that weren't blasting sports (I was enjoying watching an animated Christmas special) one of the bartenders came over and switched them all over to football and hockey. A coincidence, but just another straw.
The food was mostly good, but my wife's salmon was under-seasoned, so we flagged the server down to ask for salt and pepper that never came. When we asked for the check, there was no question about why her meal was largely untouched. Some salt 20 minutes earlier would have made all the difference.
Looks like everyone else was having a great time, so it's hard for me to say that you shouldn't go. For me, there are too many really good restaurants in the area for me to consider going back someplace where I had to work so hard to have an experience that ended up only okay at best.
I hope that you have better luck there than we had.
We have been here more than once and each time it is a fantastic experience. Friendly staff, extensive bar menu, casual area to watch a game and a quiet area for a friendly dinner. The food seems to get better each time - the specials are varied and tasty, the old favorites consistent and satisfying. Topping it all off is a staff, bartender and owner that welcome you like family. Definitely worth a look if you have not been here!!!
Went on a date and had an incredible meal with great service. The food is always consistent and reliable. The menu of offerings is expansive and I would highly recommend!
My husband and I had an enjoyable dinner. We chose to sit inside although new, heated outdoor seating seems lovely. We were greeted warmly by Benito and staff. We will return!
Lovely evening with delicious food and attentive wait staff. The menu is diverse and interesting, the wine menu has nice selections at reasonable prices.
Nice menu with something for everyone, terrific mixed drinks and wonderful service.
Osso Bucco, sushi pizza, seared ahi tuna and fresh calamari that evening were superb! Wonderful birthday celebration for my husband with live guitarist, nice touch!
Service & food very good! Will go again. There is a nice outdoor pario too which i would luv to try in nice weather!
I am never disappointed at NP Bar and Kitchen. I frequent this restaurant quite a bit for group dinners and they always take excellent care of us. Service is excellent, food is always good - I love it here.
Wait staff was very friendly, attentive and helpful. I got the Branzino. The fish itself was good but there was too much salt in the sauce and on the brocolli rabe so I was unable to finish it.
Atmosphere cool however boring menu not much flavor
Great outdoor space! Love the menu and everything was delicious.
Very lovely experience. We felt very cared for and the food was good especially the mushroom bisque. Thank you!
Good but nowoverpriced food and wines. Six tiny meatballs which might make ameatball n 1/2 at an italian restaurant for theprice was a poor value. Same with duck breadt special - poor value. Cake on providence dessert was dry
We are regulars at Providence Bar and Kitchen’s sister restaurant, Bistro Seven Three in Bernardsville. We’ve been wanting to try Providence Bar and Kitchen for some time. We met friends there on Saturday night and it was a wonderful, delicious, memorable evening. Benito, the manager, greeted us as we arrived and we had cocktails at the bar, served by Tom the Bartender, before going to our table for a fantastic meal. Great evening, delicious food and before we knew it, 4 hours had gone by! I highly recommend the Braised Short Ribs, Chicken Scarpielo, and the always wonderful Sushi Pizza. Great evening with great friends at a homey yet hip restaurant. We’ll be back!
Great food, amazing service! Nice variety of entree selections. Delicious cocktails...nice that it’s not a BYO.
Worst meal ever. Appetizers were cold and tasteless. We didn't even given dinner a chance because the apptz were so bad. The bus boy kept asking to take our plates when we said each time we were still sitting, finally he reached over and took my husbands plate. That's when we decided to leave. We will definitely not be back!
Great food and best margaritas in the area if not all of NJ. Tommy is the best bartender there is and Benito is the greatest proprietor going. Amazing staff too including Anna. Can’t say enough about how perfect this place is- and we go here all the time. Never ever disappointed.
Service was wonderful, the restaurant is beautiful and it was a great place to celebrate a birthday.
We love coming here for dinner. The ingredients are consistently fresh, and the menu is varied. The drink menu is fun and innovative. The staff is very friendly and the ambiance is great, especially for the area. Have come here for multiple occasions and will keep coming back.
Good selection. Our appetizer and main course were very tasty.
