This place is, in my opinion, again on the decline. The food is not outstanding, and given the competition in the Des Moines market, outstanding is what I expect for the price I’m paying here. Recent menu changes here are not an improvement. Also, I find it objectionable to pay $10 to valet my car when I’m spending money to eat in their restaurant. I’ll think hard before coming back here again.

Excellent restaurant with a sophisticated but friendly atmosphere. The wait staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with wine and food selections. The food was fantastic- perfectly prepared and tasty with good size portions. Our waiter provided a free small dessert for the table which was a nice touch.

We went for the Thanksgiving Dinner. The soup and salad were excellent along with the wine pairing and pie. The main entree was heaping full and could have been split with my partner. We have lots of leftovers. The atmosphere was very pleasant as well as the service.

Waitress was the best. My husband and I were not on our A game… meaning we accidentally knocked over a empty glass, I forgot what I ordered and almost told another server they had the wrong table, asked about dessert and I ended up caring more about the cookies you get when you pay. Which BTW those cookies were AMAZING. Our waitress laughed with us and we apologized many times for being clumsy and confusing. The food was very good. And I would highly recommend this restaurant. We were not a “trouble table” we just weren’t the most refined, and our waitress treated us like we were no different than the table behind us or next to us. She was attentive and polite. And she genuinely seemed to enjoy our conversation. We tipped her very well. And when we go back we definitely will try to sit in her section

Proudfoot & Bird does not disappoint. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, excellent cocktails, delicious menu. The bar and seating area feel straight out of the Great Gatsby. Perfect for celebrations and impressive date nights, but perhaps even better when treating yourself for no reason at all.

Fantastic food and service! Virtually the only negative was that the bar was quite busy so the noise level was fairly high. This was a birthday dinner and we couldn’t have been treated better! Highly recommend!

The food was excellent and our server was outstanding. Attentive, but didn't hover too much. She was also very knowledgeable about the wines and food. Pre-dinner cocktails were also quite good at the bar. We were stuffed when we finished...good portions.

Tried Proudfoot & Bird to celebrate our anniversary and overall we were very disappointed. Our booth was located right next to the noisy bar. Our food was very good on some items and very bad on others. The French onion soup and brussel sprouts were outstanding. The bone in pork ribeye was fair, with a considerable amount of fat. The salmon dinner was unacceptable. The center was raw and the beets were barely cooked and inedible. We provided feedback to our waiter and simply told she would let the chef know. Nothing else was said or done. We will not be going back.

Excellent, every time! I had octopus and carrots (539 favorites), hubs had the filet and it was the best steak we’ve ever had. Friends loved the pork chop and salmon. Highly recommend!
