Probably one of the best, if not the best, dining experience I've ever had. The food was delicious, the presentation exquisite, and our server Bobby was the greatest.
We love Prospect Hill Restaurant. The chef takes a lot of pride in his creations. All the meals we have enjoyed here have been delicious and Saturday did not disappoint.
This is a hidden gem.
We will return for another special meal.
Best dining experience and food in the area! Wonderful staff with attention to detail.
Once again this place did not disappoint. Cozy place with great food.
First time ever having a meal like this. The food was very delicious. The staff pleasant and friendly. Very clean place.
Dinner, Dessert, Drinks, DIVINE!! A romantic dinner for two...even though, my hubs did not share...it was THAT good!! :) franki
Loved hearing the history of the plantation. Accommodations were comfortable and cozy. Doc, our waiter and Rachael were all very pleasant and made us feel very welcomed. Food was excellent. Highly recommend.
Very pleasant experience for my wife and I. The hosts were great. The inn was quiet and comfortable. We had dinner in the restaurant on one of the evenings and it was fantastic. French inspired, the presentation was perfect and food multidimensional in taste. Would highly recommend it.
Lovely setting. Charming knowledgeable staff. Wonderful food. Will definitely go again
Both the dinner and the following breakfast were of excellent quality. We had a variety of dishes and differing servers, and all were well above expectations. No rush, no distractions, very very good food. It was a perfect setting for dinner and after dinner cordials. The history of the Inn is fascinating and well presented. Staying in the historic rooms was a pleasure and just the break we were looking for. I highly recommend a stay at this Inn, you will not regret a minute of it. A bit off the beaten path, but don't let that stop you! The Wifi is not supreme, so bring a good book or two along with some walking shoes.
Best meal we have had for as long as I can remember . Lovely plantation house and grounds, friendly and competent waitstaff, delicious, unique dishes with beautiful presentation. Quite pricey but it was a memorable special occasion for us. In a rural area like Louisa County, this a wonderful, not very well known treasure! We will go back for future special occasions!
Excellent five course meal concluded with a champagne toast. It made our New Years Eve special.
Our waiter was a very friendly and cordial young man. The food was a delight and the inn is very lovely
Excellent fine dining for 20th anniversary! Highly recommended.
Another excellent culinary experience! Prospect Hill has become a birthday tradition for us. We have never been disappointed
Perfect in all respects
We went to Prospect Hill for our 25th wedding anniversary and it was wonderful in every way—both rustic and elegant, comfortable and welcoming, beautiful and romantic. Dinner was fabulous—fresh local ingredients perfectly prepared and imaginatively presented. Good selection of wines. Delicious! A good warming fire in a pre-revolutionary war fireplace. The next morning, we enjoyed one of the best breakfasts I can remember. Highly recommended and a real find.
Greeting was very personal and detailed. Attention was paid to my requests and meals were fantastic
Its a nice place to visit and eat. However, I would recommend coming at a time where you can order directly off the menu. We were there for Thanksgiving and the dinner was buffet and guests were assigned to certain time sittings.. The room that had the food was somewhat dark and it was hard to read the labels of what-was-what. The food could have been hotter and the deserts could have been fresher as they tasted & looked as if they were a few days old! Staff were very nice and were willing to assist in any manner. I would go back only to be able to view the grounds, order directly off the menu and enjoy the historic aspect of the property. They should consider making a lounge/bar area, which would add a special touch for guests, as there was none.
Amazing .. Elpidio is a master. Staff and owner are wonderful. Going back next year if we can get a reservation !
They had some of the best food I’ve had, and I’ve eaten all over the world. It was more expensive than I usually spend, but when I compare what I spent in other restaurants in the Charlottesville area it wasn’t that much more and we walked to our room after dinner instead of driving!
I travel for a living and eating out isn’t such a treat as it is for my wife, but Prospect Hill was like going to a friend’s house and staying over. I thoroughly enjoyed the “NOT HOTEL “ and not big city restaurant feel!
Our cottage was 300 years old and still in use. Cool!
Phenomenal evening. It was the perfect way to celebrate a once in a lifetime event for my wife and me. “The best meal I have EVER had” said my wife. I agree.
This is the 4th time we have eaten here and it has become one of my favorite restaurants in Charlottesville, for both my wife and I and the friends who have come with us. The food and the chef are outstanding. Quality, artistry and taste stand out. Service is pleasant. The restaurant is at the upper end of the price continuum but when considering everything that is included, pricing is reasonable. We made our next reservation while we were finishing up. A great experience. The ride in the country was nice too!
A most unexpected gem less than an hour from Richmond. This kitchen, under the direction of its self-taught South American chef, creates extraordinary meals that are as delicious as they are beautiful in presentation. The small room is not noisy but conversations do carry easily in the dining room of this historic home. Nevertheless the antiquity of the room definitely adds to its charm. If one is seeking a weekend or overnight respite close to the city, or perhaps even willing to drive a bit for dinner, the dining room at Prospect Hill is worth the drive and will be a remarkable reward.
My husband and I are staying at prospect Hill and we love the location and we love the restaurant. Out of our four night stay we will be eating three nights at Prospect Hill
Delicious meal which was beautifully presented. Great choice for a special occasion. Just a fun short drive into the country from Charlottesville.
The chef is fantastic as well as the service.
This our best dining place in Louisa County.
We had an amazing night stay here. It would not have been complete without experiencing dinner. Everything from the Virginia wine selections to quail and duck entrees and the pear dessert were amazing along with the service!
Great service and outstanding food presentations! High-quality food!
Superb service and wide ranging menu. Quiet setting good for easy conversation and that special date.
Food to die for, beautiful service and ambiance. The only thing that marred our visit is someone used a leaf blower, of all things, for a full hour the morning of our departure which was terribly loud and greatly irritating as we did our best to enjoy relaxing on the porch. Leaf blowers should be totally banned at the plantation as long as there are any guests on the property. Period. That is a city noise and out of place to a restful weekend in rural Virginia. We enjoyed walking the nature trail and loved the cats on our lap in the quiet evening on the porch and before and after the leaf blowing racket.
We have come to Prospect Hill numerous times and we are never disappointed. What a lovely way to spend a quiet, delicious evening of dining in a place away from the noise of daily life.
The food was delicious. Ingredients were fresh. Scallops plump. Duck breast cooked exactly as requested. Presentation was creative and witty. We would happily repeat this experience.
The decor of the restaurant is somewhat dated. It could use freshening and perhaps a pass with a de-frou frou machine.
Loved the food! Beautiful presentation of the dishes! Very reasonable in terms of cost. Only two things were less then excellent. One was the cocktail my wife ordered tasted watered down and the other was that the dishes were served too quickly. We were in the restaurant for just over one hour for a three course meal. We like to relax and enjoy a less hurried meal when we go out for dinner. This felt like everything was a bit rushed and the courses came out immediately one after each other. While no one likes a meal service that is too slow, there has to be a balance between the two.
Better restaurant than any other in dc metro. Presentation and quality of food were amazing, never mind the price of $125 per a couple? I would eat there weekly if it was closer to my house. Great at accommodated a gluten free diet as well!
Excellent choice for our anniversary. Presentation was artful and the food was superb.
First time diners at Prospect Hill Plantation. Historic residence and beautiful grounds. We had reservations on a weeknight and we believe we were the only couple in the entire restaurant which was unique. Food was absolutely spectacular and the service was impeccable. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Everything was great. It was our first time at the place and the beauty of the property just blew us away. We will definitely go back.
The food was excellent and portions were sized appropriately. We definitely plan on returning for another meal and stay at the Inn.
An absolutely phenomenal experience! The food and the service were superb.
