I would go here again because it is a nice place for the area. Drinks are good, but dinner Menu is limited and they will not make any substitutions. Also the main entrees were a little salt heavy. Desserts were great, but a little overpriced for the amount of food provided. Great view and cozy by fireplace.
We got brunch at Scribner’s and it was fantastic. We were sad that we hadn’t tried it sooner. Highly recommend brunch.
We enjoyed really friendly service, excellent breakfasts and the best burger of my life!
Excellent food , service and ambience. Everything we ate was fantastic. Wait staff couldn't have been nicer . Well worth the trip. Will go back again soon !
We made a reservation here a month in advance for my wife’s birthday. We also arrived 2 hours early to relax in the hotel’s game room. When it was time for our reservation they informed us they needed another 15 minutes to find a table and get it ready, this was the first bad moment as we made a reservation far in advance and arrived incredibly early to see them not be prepared to receive us on a day marked as a special occasion.
We were then seated along the cold window and directly in line with a spot light from outside, it literally felt like the worst seat in the house that they just flipped and were still setting silverware. I asked to be moved and we wound up waiting an additional 15 minutes for another party to close out, then were given their seats which were equally in line with the spot light from outside. I asked to move a third time and they finally moved us to a booth. We did not place an order until close to 8:45pm.
I am so disappointed in the service here as we did everything possible to notify the staff of the special occasion, reserve a table 1 month in advance, arrive early, and tolerate 2 embarrassing moves.
This was a terrible dining experience, and a significant miss for something that was supposed to be a premium service for a special occasion. We were also guests of the hotel as well, so there was ample opportunity to get this right.
I do not recommend Prospect for anything other than a quick / casual dinner for people staying at the hotel.
Great place with amazing views of Hunter mountain
While I don't think Scribner's lodge is anything to write home about, the restaurant was well worth the trip. The menu was small but everything we had was well prepared and delicious. I'd highly recommend.
Awesome meal. We got the ribeye for two and it was perfect. Nice atmosphere!
Very good food but the place felt sterile and not warm. Waiters were friendly but seemed rushed. Seated away from the windows, couldn’t see outside. Also, pricey.
6 month wedding anniversary
We made a reservation for a date night/birthday dinner. We heard great things about the ambiance and the food and were very excited to try the place. The space is beautiful and we very much enjoyed the option of sitting outside by the fire with our drinks. Unfortunately the food itself was underwhelming.
Great ambiance and service. The menu is very limited and the portions are not that generous. There weren’t any specials running either on a Saturday night. That being said the food was good would probably go again
The food was very good and the ambiance was very nice. The staff made us feel welcome and they were very attentive to our requests. I will definitely recommend this to a friend.
Prospect is a great hidden gem at Scribner's Lodge! We had dinner and two breakfasts here and would highly recommend the restaurant for anyone staying at Scribner's or passing through the area. The bar is awesome with creative cocktails and a large local beer menu. The food is outstanding!
Unfortunately, it seems that they have not figured out their service system yet. The food is always good but there are constant problems each time we have visited. Took 15 minutes for a server to come over. We ordered drinks and then they told us they could not make cocktails that night. Always takes a long time and the servers don’t seem organized.
Love heading to Scribners for Dinner and Brunxh or pretty much any mea when we’re up in the Catskills. Had a big group dinner for a birthday party on a Saturday, the staff is amazing and they are always so good to us and have delicious food at the ready. Rose took great care of us and made sure we had a fantastic night.
Excellent experience, loved both meals I ate there. Staff was wonderful.
Excellent location. Spectacular views of the mountains and of the Catskills area. I loved the beautiful flowers all around and the vegetable garden. Also the minimalist style is perfect for the area, and it's a novelty in the surroundings. The choice of food should be more vary though, the working hours longer and the service may need some improvement. The bathrooms accessible to the clientele also need better cleaning. Suggest adding a dessert menu for brunch and a greater selection of dishes
Wonderful views and superb food - the tenderest steak I’ve had this year. Small portions, but that meant we could enjoy starters and desserts as well.
Fantastic across the board
Absolutely amazing! Had an incredible experience - ambiance was on point as was service and food. Clearly use high quality ingredients
Amazing food, great scene but definitely pricey. We will absolutely be back!
We had a wonderful time at dinner- the food was great, and the staff were really helpful and made us feel welcomed.
Beautiful views with extremely flavorful food! The staff is attentive and incredibly kind!
Slow service but charming!
We had the best time, and the food was amazing! Rose was a WONDERFUL waitress! It was the perfect evening.
Anniversary date on the deck. Gorgeous night by the fire pit after a great meal
Everything was great except for the booth near us where the diners thought screaming was the correct way to act in a restaurant.
Staff could have offered to move us, they sat anyone else who came in on the opposite side of the restaurant.
Other than that, loved everything about the restaurant.
Our dinner for two on a Sunday night at Prospect was everything one could wish for in a romantic dinner.
The restaurant interior is gorgeous -- clearly, every detail from the silverware to lighting to playlist was considered with care. The 180 degree plus views of Hunter mountain and the valley are stunning. Service was warm and attentive.
My pre-dinner burnt maple Old Fashioned cocktail was memorable and served with enthusiasm by a delightful bartender. Great wine and beer list too. The sourdough bread and cultured butter were as good as my homemade sourdough, fresh from my home oven. The grilled mackerel with mixed grains, kimchi and furikami entree I ordered was one of the most delicious (and healthy!) seafood dishes I've ever had. My partner's "Prospect burger" was "too delicious" ("too delicious" because he ended up eating the whole mammoth burger.) Hazelnut mousse for dessert rounded out a perfect meal.
We made a vow as we watched the sunset that we would return to Prospect for dinner, making the 2.5-hour drive from our home, at least once a year.
Our breakfast at Prospect the next morning was equally delicious. The house-made yogurt with granola and fresh fruit was extraordinarily delicious.
Food was very delicious! great ambiance with amazing Mountain View.
It is SOO dark in restaurant but overall very very good.
Anniversary dinner. Nothing was said about it even though I put it in the notes. Good was great. My wife ordered the ny strip which was over cooked the 1st time around and a little chewy although cooked correctly the 2nd time. Time from seating to dinner served 1hr 45min. Kitchen was slow...
Delicious food, tried the ribeye for the first time - outstanding! And the caramom souffle - incredible. Our server Liz was awesome, very attentive and we had a fun night celebrating our friends birthday.
The food is creative and nicely presented. I enjoyed a grass-fed NY strip steak with roasted fennel and my husband tried the lamb burger - both were flavorful. Our guests ordered the dry-aged ribeye steak for two - served with asparagus & cauliflower au gratin - which they said was fantastic. There was a slight delay when entrees were served. Service was attentive and liesurely so we did not feel rushed. We really enjoyed their version of an old fashioned cocktail.
Food was quite excellent. Service was okay. Waiter misunderstood and only brought one of our two entrees that we intended to share, cocktails were slow to arrive, as were our glasses of wine.
Everything we ate was very tasty, though the service was very slow, and a bit overpriced. The atmosphere is very cool and would be fun to go for a drink (if we lived in the area).
Exceptional experience, wonderful ambiance, excellent drinks. Can’t rave enough about both the restaurant and the lodge.
Beautiful space with an amazing view of Hunter mountain skiers. Delicious brunch. Friendly staff.
