Proper 21K, brought to DC from the New York City restaurateurs Rob Zahn and Will Strozier that own Manhattan Proper and Proper West, opening in August 2020. Located at 2033 K St NW, Proper 21K is a high end sports bar serving All American classics with a gourmet twist. Proper 21 is the fourth location of NIEUW Group Inc.

Like its predecessors, located in New York City, Proper 21K serves contemporary American cuisine. The space maintains the modern aesthetic and New York style of the Manhattan locations, which have best been described as Tom Ford meets Thomas Edison. The restaurant provides the best audio & visual for sports, corporate functions, nightlife and other events.

    They were short staffed. Made for a slower experience. I asked for no cheese on my burger and it had cheese. We asked for ice cream on the side of the cookie and it wasn’t. That slowed down the evening. It’s an upscale sports bar vibe. It’s worth going back. They just need to clean up the service a bit.

    I love the vibes here, the service was a bite on the slower side. And the food wasn’t quite as good as I remembered it to be my last visit. I think it depends on when you go which depends on your experience.

    PHENOMENAL. The food, the atmosphere, the customer service. All of it! Visiting DC from Philadelphia and I spent my birthday here last night with my husband and it’s our favorite place we’ve dined at ever! We watched the college football games - if you’re looking for a fancier place with good food to watch some sports, but still want that fun environment - this is the perfect spot! I had the poke nachos and mussels, my husband had the birria egg rolls and salmon - chefs kiss, such good food! Thank you Gabriel and Mark for such fantastic customer service! We will definitely be back!

    My friends and I ate so much! Food was delicious! We had the bbq wings, fish and chips, burger, tiramisu and churro waffle. Ambience was good.l with good people. Just a few mishaps like not being able to change fries to a salad after order was already in. Also they forgot one of our desserts that we ordered and it took a while to get. Overall would still come back though.

    Our server was lovely and attentive. The drinks were fine, except a little too heavy on the vermouth for my martini. The food was very good and fresh and hot. My only complaint is that we were absolutely surrounded by TVs and it was a family dinner so it was very distracting. Ordinarily we would have sat outside, but the mosquito situation was appalling. I wonder if there is another area of the restaurant without TVs? I really didn't scope it out. That being said, some people enjoy that. And it's probably a wonderful place to catch a game you're interested in!

    Great food and excellent service. It would have been nice for their maple syrup to be actual maple syrup and not high fructose corn syrup. Also, the handicapped bathroom is a bit difficult to get to, but the staff were very friendly and acomomdating!

    Amazing restaurant, food, service, and ambience. All restaurant staff were wonderful, checked on us frequently and brought the food on time. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The restaurant was beautiful, inside and out. We went on Sunday afternoon, so there was really nice entertainment. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Washington DC.

    It was our first time at Proper21K. Service was good. Did her job, no more no less. Checked on us frequently, as well as the manager. Menu selection was a little disappointing with only a few options. But I had the smash burgers, and it was really were good!

    We had a reservation for 8 and showed up with twice that. The staff accommodated us seamlessly and the service was great. I would definitely recommend Proper 21K for future work events.

    Classy but not upscale sports bar and restaurant. Service was solid and I definitely enjoyed the cocktails. I’ll keep returning to try out the different menu options. Nachos were excellent.

    Took the staff a great deal of time to recognize me at the station and seat me although I had a reservation. Once seated, it took a long time to bring me a menu. The waiter had to try three (3!) times to bring the right menu (brunch). Bloody Mary was excellent. Nice spice balance. Smoked salmon Benedict was OK. Eggs were perfectly poached. Hollandaise a little skimpy. Greens with entree, quite good. Waiter was apologetic and friendly once the meal really got going. I would not recommend as a solo dining destination although the bar might be good for one.

    I cannot say to much about the food because I couldn’t try it. The hostess and manager are terrible. I could have a better service on MacDonals for sure ! I registered my reservation and a girl told that they just gonna need 10 minutes to clean it I said ok, I was with my baby waiting for more time they ignore us ! And they give the table to other people, I explain again to the manager in the front and he start laughing, I guess his job is just fun for him, should be fired.

    Great spot for brunch with a group. Ambience is great! Drinks are good, brunch menu is amazing! The Poke nachos is the best item on the shareable plates! We went for brunch and stayed until dinner

    It took an hour for our drinks to arrive, even after flagging the waiter and bartender. The drinks were eventually comped, but we were ignored / unserved for a very long time. Once we had the manager’s attention everything was fine, and the food was great.

    Nice food but the service is not very attentive - despite asking for starters to be served first (naturally…) they brought us starters and the mains at the same time and the food got cold. Spoiled the dining experience…
