It sounded like an interesting place to go but I wouldn't bother again. Nothing to write home about.
This place was incredible all around. The location was beautiful and the decoration plus the ambiance can’t be matched. The service was fast and the food was stellar. The drinks absolutely can not be over stated. Walk in and be escorted through the trick door and into the hidden speak easy, order a bourbon and the beast and let the magic happen.
I was excited to dine at this place because of all the positive reviews. The drinks were excellent and the food was amazing. I'm rating it four stars because they had run out of what I ordered first.
We went for brunch and the food was incredible. Definitely suggest making a reservation if you want to try this place. The atmosphere was fun. It's like walking into a 'speakeasy ' back in the 30s. Staff were all dressed in prohibition type attire which made the experience that much more fun. Looking forward to going to trying dinner.
The atmosphere was so fun, staff was so friendly, and Tana (Adam) was the best and sexiest server! :)
Definitely will be going back for lots more. Thank you Prohibition!
This place has a really cool setup. Unique and definitely a place everyone should check out. Food and drinks were good, but the experience it great.
They need to lower the volume of the show hostesses mic. It is obnoxiously loud to the point it is uncomfortable. The performers were great and the food is very good although not an extensive menu. Overall cool vibe and good spot for something different in SLC. Just know you will be screamed at intermittently throughout the evening.
The place is great but i didnt like that we had a time to be there.. Lit an hour and 30 mins.. Ao of u wanna get more drinks or food u cant cause u have to leave. So I had to rush having my second cocktail. When u dinne and drink you dont want someone rushing you to leave..
Be aware that Thursdays are karaoke night and it might be completely obnoxious to the point that you run out the door after your drink & meal. I doubt this is the intended effect, however, our food and drinks were good and the restaurant has a very unique vibe. We feel that with the right type of music selection this could be an ideal dining experience….big band, jazz, blues would all be acceptable in this venue
Hi Elizabeth, yes Thursday night is Burly-Oke(Karaoke) night, and this starts around 9 PM or shortly after. The bar normally fills after the dinner crowd for Karaoke around 9:30 or 10:00 PM. For a lighter dining experience we do have a 3 piece band on Wednesday nights between 7 and 9:30 PM. This is jazz/blues/latin music which I am sure would provide the dining experience you are looking for. Thank you!
The service was fantastic. The style of the building was very nice and the cocktails were AMAZING! I highly recommend this place!! Go if you can!
Third visit to Prohibition, Possibly the last, quality keeps dropping.
Disappointed. Disengaged and disinterested server. Asked if she was having a difficult day: *I’m glad it’s busy so I can make more money.* Warm, welcoming, lovely woman busing tables. Mediocre lavender mimosa. Room temperature eggs Benedict with little personality. Cold hash browns. Also welcoming was the host. And concerned when we talked before I left. I try to review generously. It’s hard to do that here.
The food and drinks were delicious, the show was amazing!
Brunch was great loved the french toast and Huevos Rancheros. Will be going again for dinner.
Great food, and some of the best mixed drinks available in Utah. Bartenders know what they’re doing!
Second time and we will be going back again and again. Such a fun place with good food. Our waiter was not very friendly or appreciative at the end of night. Our first night there a couple of weeks ago was the complete opposite experience. Our waiter was fantastic and made some wonderful recommendations. She was also very appreciative of our business. Anyway, check this place out.
This place is so cool! We were looking for a different place to eat in Murray, Utah before we went to see a musical at the Hale Centre Theater near SLC and we found Prohibition- how lucky were we!
With the secret entrance from the start, we were hooked- it looks and is decorated like a 20’s Speakeasy… even the water is served in a cut glass decanter !
Plenty of speciality cocktails to choose from, but we went with standard martinis- yum! Our shrimp and avocado appetizer was delicious, as were our entrees… I had an artichoke chicken pasta and my husband had Tommy Gun tacos with wagu beef. Everything was so tasty and delicious! Our server was very attentive and accommodating since she knew we were under a time limit and had a show to catch. We appreciated that.
Some nights they have a band playing which was the case the night we were there- The other thing that the Prohibition is know for is their burlesque shows and they have a combo burlesque/ karaoke show on Thursday ..
We will definitely be putting this in our list of cool restaurants to re- visit on future road trips !
Everything about this place was so fun! I’m definitely going back to enjoy more of their activities!
The food was spectacular, our placebo drinks were exquisite, both the lady that showed us to our table, and our waitress were perfectly splendid. An added bonus is that it's 21 and older, so we didn't have to listen to any screaming kids during our lovely brunch.
Took my wife here for her birthday. Yes, the food and beverages are a little expensive, but incredibly well made. The presentation on the drinks was top-notch, "Bourbon and the Beast" is a show-stopped and hey, you get a rose! Woohoo! The food is great, service was wonderful, and holy cow... what a show. My wife loves the movie "Moulin Rouge" and they were doing a tribute show to it with music from the movie. The whole show was amazing, and the MC closed out the program with a jaw-dropping routine that had everyone screaming. So cool. What a fantastic venue!
We enjoyed our meal. Our server was very good and helpful. The food was good.
The food was very well made and the ambiance was on point!
We enjoy doing girls
Friendly welcomes, excellent wait staff, wonderful food, exciting show. Overall, a terrific time!
2nd time in a row I have gone there because the first time they were out of almost everything on the menu and I figured that it was a fluke or I caught them on a bad day. Went back and they were out of almost everything again. And the waitress doesn’t know what they are out of until she goes back into the kitchen one entree or appetizer at a time and then tells you they don’t have it. Completely out of steak, when steak is 4 out of 7 of your menu options, and then out of the one other sandwich item you have?? The waitress says they are always sold out of most stuff by Thursday. Why wouldn’t you just make more because there is no point in going here if they have nothing to serve you
Food was way overcooked? Burnt. The place wasn’t busy at all. The cook should have paid more attention. Three meals, three overcooked.
Cocktails awesome! Food amazing! Service delightful!
This is a very quiet and private place to go for drinks and excellent food.
I have been here multiple times and food and service has been great.
It was great to be there after so many months of COVID. However, my wife and I remember a few years ago when the music between the entertainment was so awesome that we were totally moved to DANCE. In fact, we danced with such abandon that the owner came to us and begged us to come back and gave us a gift certificate. This time, the music between entertainment was basic house music (my wife and I are in our 50s, 60s and we loved the 60's - 90's music that was played in our original visits). The house music was so uninspiring that we did not even get up to dance. We love the ambiance, the food, the decor, the costumes. It's all great, but we really came to dance. Also, this may sound very fuddy duddy, but I think it's a bit of a turn-off to be told (even in jest) that I HAVE to throw money at the entertainers. I am generally very generous, but I like to feel that it is MY choice to donate/contribute and that I'm not doing it because I was told to.
Fun place with alot of detail. Adam was our server, he was fun, energetic and attentive. All of the performers were talented and very entertaining. I would love to go back soon!
The cocktails were very good! The food was so so. They were out of all the steaks and most of the desserts. This was a Tuesday night at 7:30 so not sure what was going on.
Decor was awesome. I loved the 1920’s vibe. Drink were super delicious!
I ordered one drink, it was never brought out to me, I then had to order it again, after 40 min of being there I finally got my drink. But then I was charged for 2 drinks when I only ordered one. I called them and they said there’s nothing they can do. I probably should have checked the receipt before I payed but I trusted my waiter to get it right and he messed up!
We went for the Sacrament and Sin Drag Show and it was SPECTACULAR. Food was great, ambiance and crowd were awesome and the show itself was phenomenal! Loved all of it!
This place is amazing! The drinks and food are delicious and the shows are fantastic!
We had so much fun! When I made the reservation I thought it was for a burlesque night, totally forgetting it was Pride month. Turns out it was a Drag show and it was even better than we expected! 100% will come back. The food and drinks were amazing as well. The atmosphere was perfect. Best night I've had in a very long time.
We had drinks and appetizers, everything was good. The show, Sacrament and Sin, was AWESOME! It was a first for all of us that night and we all said we'd like to go again. The staff were all very friendly and helpful with questions.
Love the energy! Took my boyfriend there for his birthday and he had an amazing first experience there. Dinner was amazing!
It was a nice venue for a girls night out, show was so so, but energy level Is very high, so we loved it .Only one thing that was a bother is that a music that was blasting, we could not hear each other over that.Food and drinks are fine, service is great.
