Prohibition Restaurant & Speakeasy Ratings and Reviews
Prohibition is a very cool restuarant & lounge in the Wynwood District that is different from any other restuarant in the area. The ambiance is very cool with the service and food to match. Having a live Saxophonist playing in the dinning area was a nice touch.
Pasta was great. Grilled salmon was good but not outstanding. Ambient was very nice: live music, colorful, nice people mostly in their high 30s, well decorated; seats were comfortable. Place was expensive though but i was warned that it was son no one to blame. It does worth a visit, maybe two. As a local i'd certainly wouldn't be a regular client, but this would be one of 6 places i would take a visitor to dine out if the occasion worth spending the money. We were a party of 3, bill was around $150 + tip. We shared one appetizer and each one had its own main course. For drinking two had diet coke, 2 bottles each as bottles were so tiny they seemed like a toy. I had 2 glasses of wine, both very good and not pricier than in other similar places. We had no dessert. I had one expresso at the end. Parking was right next door. Service was great, people in general all great. Music was loud but talk-able.
The food was great however when we arrived they didn’t want to seat us until our entire group was there. Then they seated us as an incomplete party after waiting for a few minutes. The evening was going well then after two hours the waiter came up and said we had to leave because the other party had arrived and they needed our table even though there were a number of open tables. I made a reservation using open table about 2 weeks ago, it wasn’t as if we just showed up without a reservation. Definitely a really poor end to what was a good evening. Not going back.
Food was excellent but if you are a party of 2 then you are forced to sit right next to the open kitchen giving you the sites, sounds and smells of a busy kitchen. Unless you personally call to make a reservation you will not know this until you arrive because it does not say it anywhere on their reservation system.
So if you want to have a romantic evening with just your partner I suggest you go somewhere else.
Food is awesome. Party of four. Lobster Mac, chorizo croquettes, meatballs, mussels and black grouper. Finished off with banana cream pie and four spoons. We demolished everything.
Vibe is very upbeat, live saxman and eclectic DJ mixes. Bar service a little slow to table which I give a point off. Good martini, extra blue cheese olives not a problem.
I'd go back anytime.
The owner is brilliant because this was such a great concept. I️ have been here many times and every time I️ go I️ love I️t more. The food is amazing and the ambiance is just perfect! Make sure to make reservations on the weekends because I️t to s always busy.
Bad serivice .. Waitresses and hosteses look depressed. Food not so good ... Atmosphere is mediocre at the most .. No parking ...they charge 20 usd for parking. We reserved the table and they did not honor it. First and last time to go there. I dont recommend it at all. Hope they improve but i doubt it.
Visited for a Bachelorette. Great ambiance downstairs with live jazz music. We ordered several small plates to share which were all delicious and of course, cocktails! Prices compare to any other nicer bar. We went upstairs to have a few more drinks. Cool hang out spot with a DJ. It was perfect for us because we went a bit early and there wasn’t a large crowd.
The octopus small plate was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Went great with the plantain chips. My entree was nearly as good (skirt steak with truffle fries) and my wife had the maple grouper and it was a generous portion that tasted great. Also had a table overlooking the kitchen and had a great time interacting with the different chefs. Very talented people.
