Prohibition Ratings and Reviews
We had an amazing time here celebrating my 21st birthday! Our waiter was attentive and excited to share his suggestions. We LOVED the Brussels sprouts. We were seated right next to the band, which was fine, but very very loud. Would recommend asking for a table away from the band if you are hard of hearing and want to hear what your friends are saying!
We had our friend's Bachelorette Dinner at the Prohibition located in Charleston, SC and we all dressed up for the Roaring 20's. We had a fabulous time! All the food we ordered was delicious, but the BRUSSEL SPROUTS were hands down the BEST! We must have ordered it four times! :) Everyone was so nice and our server was FUNNY and AWESOME! Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!
The food is very good. The service is good, the staff seemed stressed Friday night, our waiter was a novice and hard a time taking special orders and splitting the bill. The music is good, but the place is loud (chatting), I recommend sitting close to the musicians, otherwise is going to be hard to enjoy the musicians. More than 50% of the people do not go for the music, and all the do is shout at the person next to them.
Horrible. Not the restaurant’s fault, because I’ve eaten there before and enjoyed it, but there was the MOST unruly crowd there. The poor hostesses were hauling jackets around to clear space for diners, they took forever to seat us for our reservation, and they sat us right in the middle of the unruly crowd. Would’ve preferred something near the back away from the ratchet drunks. Got approached AND TOUCHED by a very drunk young man, and that is when we walked out. Didn’t even get menus. Not the reataurant’s fault, but wont be going back if that’s the crowd they draw.
The Service and the Food/Beverage were amazing, had heard Prohibition for a while and finally went ourselves ... a great evening. We did a Tapas style dinner to try more items - all were phenomenal! Look forward to getting back sooner and more often - just spectacular.
Crafted cocktails were excellent! The bar has a nice vibe. There is definitely more action in the front.
We were seated in back dining room and there was another smaller bar and tv, a plus since college game was on.
Service was good. Food was excellent but came out slow. It took about 26 minutes to get a simple appetizer. I believe it was bad timing because there was a private event out back they were bringing food out for. People around us came later and left before we were finished.
The staff tended to use the back bar as a break area before it got busy and boxes were stacked up outside the window. Two couples in a row asked to be moved to a different table when the hostess tried to seat them nearby The ambience in this area needs some TLC.
Overall we would go again and stay at the front bar.
We are frequent diners at this restaurant and unfortunately on this occasion had a negative experience. Our order was promptly taken for a party of two, and it didn’t come out for an hour and twenty minutes. I️ understand things happen and I️ wouldn’t normally be upset at slow service, but not once in the first hour did our server even refills our waters. I️ would’ve expected at least an apology or some compensation. That being said, I️ will definitely return because this is typically a fantastic restaurant.
Don't sit close to the stage or any conversation will be difficult. Even with just a guitar and mandolin bluegrass duo the amplified sound was overwhelming. Other than that the food from the brunch menu was just adequate.
I needed a place to get a bite before heading out of town on a Saturday morning. Found Prohibition by accident. The service was friendly and helpful, the recommended Moscow mule was tasty and the food was delicious. I had the shrimp Benedict and it was mighty fine.
Don’t let the small menu fool you, the food here is unreal. Every drink and dish we tried was incredibly well thought out and perfectly executed. You know when you take a bite of something and your eyes go wide in amazement? That was seriously everything here.
We were there on a Monday night, the only night without live music, so it was actually quiet and intimate but seeing the stage for the band in the back I think it’s probably usually a lively and loud place. Can’t wait to go back.
