How can you go wrong on St Patrick’s Day with Sean as your waiter! Wonderful meal and great atmosphere. Would go back again anytime.
Super delicious! The menu seems to be seasonal so don’t trust the open table menu that is shown but everything was amazing. We started with the Brussels sprouts and gnocchi and it was so delicious! Drinks were also amazing
Great food. Great drinks. Great service.
Outstanding experience and our server, Donna, was a delight!
Emma was an amazing server. She made our dinning experience memorable. Unfortunately it was her last night.
Great dinner and environment.
In town for the NCAA Rifle Championships. Picked Prohibition for Sunday brunch. Liked the food and service and they had live music. After eating we moved to the bar for a drink to listen to the music. Great selection of good bourbons and single malts. Friendly.
Food was excellent -shrimp and grits and eggs, biscuits and bacon hash. The bacon hash was outstanding. Service was good but impacted by an unexpected large party. I would definitely go back.
Great crafted cocktails. Server very in tune to menu and cocktails.
Terrific service. Malik was our waiter and was extremely friendly and helpful. Great ambiance. Not an overwhelming menu but plenty to choose from. We ordered the wings which were exceptional. We also had the deviled eggs and split the shrimp/grits. Live music was a bonus. Would definitely go back.
Great atmosphere and great service!
From our Server's greeting, to his final recommendation of the rum cake, the whole experience was wonderful. I think that our favorite dish was the gnocchi, but everything was delicious! The service was wonderful, and the drink that Jeff suggestion was great! (The Warthog)
Jeffrey our server was great. Informative, friendly, responsive. The food was excellent and the cocktails wonderfully surprising. We WILL be back.
wonderful choice!!! Had the sweetest waitress, she gave us free donuts!! The food was divine! Will be back again :)
Great place for cocktails but the food is pretty expensive for the portion sizes
We did the tasting menu and loved it!
BRENTON great waiter!
Let me start with the fact that I love Prohibition - we go fairly often for brunch or cocktails and dinner. As much as I would typically give them 5 stars there were a couple of instances that made this specific visit a bit meh. First, it was a gorgeous weekend and we requested to sit outside on the reservation. However, upon arrival we were told there was a private party outside and we couldn't sit there or in the back sunny bar area. Not a big deal as this stuff happens, but I wish someone had told us a booking as we may have gone elsewhere (we really wanted to be outside).
The food, as always, was fantastic, but the service was sub-par. It seems that Prohibition has hired a VERY young waitstaff that doesn't seem to have had much training. I get it, I work in F&B and I know it's not an easy gig, but we were barely taken care of. Not to mention, anytime we asked for something we were given a blank look as if it was the strangest request they'd ever heard (including when we asked for a refill on our carafe of mimosas and were brought a carafe of water instead?!?).
Don't get me wrong, I will be back because I do love it here, but I hope that the servers get a bit more training on customer service.
Fantastic drinks, some of the best bartenders in charleston
We went for brunch and it was delicious. Great service and were checked on by the manager as well.
The patio out back is lovely and the food and service were both outstanding!
Great food, delicious drinks, fantastic service from Jeff and wonderful live music with great ambiance
Corn is fantastic and was roasted chicken with farrow
Great food, service and vibe. Only caveat is to be sure you have updated menu, or else you could have sticker shock.
We loved Prohibition! We had a delicious dinner for my birthday. You must try the Brussels sprouts! We also really liked the cocktail menu. Great, unique options! We went on a Sunday evening and enjoyed the live music and small group of dancers. We didn’t partake in the dancing, but they added to the overall cool vibe. Our waiter was happy and attentive, but didn’t hover. We had a great experience!
Birthday dinner with friends. Food was ok
The food and service were very good but by mid meal it was so loud the my wife and I could not hear each other talk. We expressed this to the staff and were not offered a seat away from the nearby bar. Charleston has way too many good restaurants to not get something as simple as that right.
We had a great lunch here today. Nothing fancy, but good food for each of us; shrimp and grits, hamburger and fries, and fried chicken melt.
The stand-out today was the hostess, Chelsea. She was super at handling all aspects of an incredibly busy lunch rush today. We saw her seating tables, filling glasses, and running food to tables. Chelsea is definitely an asset to Prohibition!
Great experience. We stuck with drinks and appetizers for dinner as they looked better then the entrees.
Our appetizer took 45 minutes to come out. Although it was tasty, still unnecessary. A lot of confusion as to what food goes to which table
We were looking for somewhere new in Charleston and were curious what a cocktail bar in town was like. We decided that the food was actually better than the drinks. Started with the street corn and ricotta gnocchi which were both excellent. My wife had the the pan seared fish of the day and I had the shrimp and grits. Both were quite good. Desserts were doughnuts and chocolate mouse - also excellent. Cocktails were ok but nothing to write home about - just slightly off in how they were mixed so that one flavor inevitably dominated over others instead of creating a sum that is greater than the parts.
Staff was friendly. New go-to bar downtown. Solid food and cocktail menus.
Will return during next visit to Charleston
Weeeelllll we had high hopes for our first Valentine's dinner as a married couple. All in all there were some good aspects, but the disappointments outweighed them.
Positives: Signature cocktail, the Illicit Affair, was very nicely done and the preparation was consistent between the first and the second round. The cheese portion of the cheese & charcuterie plate was a very nice selection and the presentation was quite well done. The Angus burger was very tasty and the fries crisp yet tender. Our server, Kaitie, was very pleasant and attentive at just the right frequency. Overall, the staff was quite professional and friendly.
Negatives: The charcuterie portion of the cheese & charcuterie appetizer, while prepared in-house apparently, just did not taste as fresh as expected. My cocktail (which I am very particular about) did not arrive as ordered for either of the 2 rounds. But most disappointing: my wife's entree--The Chicken. Seemed OK on paper, but the execution was simply no more than a 1 on the scale of 5--To the point that my wife could barely stand to eat it. Not a well conceived dish overall, mushy unappetizing protein accompanied by crunchy risotto. And then there was the deep fried chicken thigh which mysteriously hung out in one corner of the plate. About as out of place here as a pork chop at a Jewish wedding. Kaitie was clearing plates and noticed the meal was hardly touched. We explained the sitch. She was kind enough to immediately and quietly remove it from the bill. Which also leads me to believe we're not the first to find the dish tried, tested, and found inedible. My wife's take away: Probably the worst restaurant meal she's ever had, sadly. Not a good sign when one leaves a restaurant thinking about what's to eat at home, and not something we anticipated from an establishment in downtown Charleston. We may, possibly, return to Prohibition at some point because there were indeed some positives. But, truth be told, we're in no rush...
Our server, Emma, was great. The food was very good, as well at the cocktails.
First time my wife and I ever had duck. It did not disappoint. Our favorite meal during our stay in Charleston. Waitress was great. Was a great choice for a Valentine's dinner.
Our service and food was not at all what you’d expect from a restaurant that you’re paying more than $20 a meal. We had reservations and it took at least 30 minutes to get our drinks. Our friends ordered the burger that was so bland, he had to send it back. The wings were so charred you could hardly tell, or taste, that they were wings. The manager was helpful and took those items off our check, but after that the waitress hardly looked our way again. The love music was great and the atmosphere is very nice, but it’s sadly way overpriced for the food and service.
Everything was good. The waiter was excellent. I would rate this restaurant to five stars BUT it was too loud.
Wonderful atmosphere and great food. Music was very nice and the bar scene was lively. Our waitress, Kaity, was spectacular. Friendly, professional and very attentive. Had 3 different people taking care of our table throughout the evening acting as a well-oiled team.
Fabulous time with friends for a Birthday - thank you!
The bone marrow was delightful and the Angus burger flavorful and succulent. Turns into a nightspot after 10PM but as I learned that's just Charleston.
