Primus Restaurant

Wonderful! The food was terrific, I had Ostrich which was cooked perfectly along with a cauliflower side and a roasted green bean side. My wife had the elk strip and it too was cooked perfectly. Along with a great bottle of Pinot noirs the dinner was what we were hoping to enjoy!

Small, intimate place. Owners are a couple who clearly put everything into making sure their guests are happy and comfortable. The food is amazing. Make reservations for sure!

We enjoyed our dinner very much. The owner and chef came by to make sure the food was exceptional.
Our waiter was the ultimate salesman for wine and everything on the menu for dinner.

By far the BEST dining experience any of us have had in Durango (I am a former native, and we all have lived in Durango off and on since the 1980's), and one of the best dining experiences any of us have had all around the globe. What a fantastic place with an unbelievable menu, chef, and all the people working there. We hope that they succeed wildly enough to stay open (Durango is a hard place to maintain a restaurant), but selfishly hope that it does not do so well that it becomes impossible to get a reservation there.

Seriously, unbelievable appetizers, main courses, vegetables, ambiance, staff, and atmosphere. Pricey but when you offer the best, you can charge the most.

The warm mushroom salad was delicious. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese for my entree. It was good, not great; somewhat on the dry side and I prefer creamy. My husband had the special Duck Breast, and while he enjoyed that very much, he said the brussel sprouts and the cauliflower were out of this world. My husband liked his martini of Magellan’s gin; he’s never had it, and is typically a Bombay Safire guy. I had the Napa cab (glass not bottle 😜). Very good. All in all, it was a very pleasant dining experience. First time out to dine inside since pandemic started. We will return to Primus!

Everything exceeded expectations: innovative preparations, superb quality & freshness, friendly knowledgeable staff. The small size of the restaurant made us feel like we were dining in a friend’s loft dining room.

By far the most innovative and creative menu in Durango. The chef makes you feel right at home. I make it a point to bring everyone that visits!

Despite a mechanical malfunction that the restaurant had no choice but to deal with during dining hours, we had a very lovely experience and the restaurant was more than generous in making it up to us. I highly recommend the lobster and scallops combo. The scallops were seared to perfection and the lobster was succulent. The side of scalloped potatoes was decadent. The evening's special chard preparation provided a nice contrast. The second meal at our table featured the lamb, also very well prepared. The mushroom salad was an intruguing twist on your standard salad - still salad with the addition of warm mushrooms.

We had a great time! Fast friendly service and a great menu. Everything was cooked well and ingredients were fresh. Will definitely be back!

Great food, great atmosphere, and great service. Can’t wait to go back.

Tried Primus for the first time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Loved the small space and the ambience was perfect for a romantic dinner. Our meal choices - bison filet for me and scallops for my hubby - were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The serving sizes were enough for us. We each did get a cup of soup, too - clam chowder and lobster bisque. We passed on other appetizers but did share a slice of lemon chiffon cake for dessert, which was a very generous portion and oh so good! Both my husband and I were quite full! Total cost, including 1 cocktail and 1 glass of wine, and a generous tip (20+%), was $165, which we thought was a good value for such a nice restaurant.

This is a small place, but in talking with the chef/owners, they make everything from scratch. This is not a factory with much preparation and pride in every meal that leaves the kitchen.

We will be back and will recommend this restaurant for anyone who appreciates top quality food and ingredients.

Great place. Unusual and very inviting menu. Friendly staff.

Portion provided for appetizers was laughably small. The main course was good but cold when served. I prefer my meat and pasta at least warm. The best part of the dinner was the desserts. Not worth the price you pay.

Both times to Primus have been great! This was re-opening from latest closures and yet they still had a full menu with no compromising. The dedication to providing the Primus product and experience is noticeable and much appreciated. And that chocolate cake!!!
