Prime - Delray Beach Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant hits all the right notes. From the moment you enter and are greeted by Merritt , the experience is special.....great martinis at the bar, beautiful decorating, tables far apart , service concerned but not annoying, and a very varied menu, that includes a sunset 3 course menu, if you arrive before 6:30. The food is delicious, and the portions large, and they are very accommodating about modifications. We have been here more than once and plan on returning, again and again and again..............
Although known for its steaks, our group All ordered seafood dishes. Scallops were particularly good. Good friendly service. Nice wine list but pricey, including stiff corkage fee of $35 ($70 for a magnum which is what we had). Ambiance is more for those who are fans of Sinatra (not really my thing).
Prime is an old school (in a good way) Italian/steak/seafood restaurant. Ambiance is elegant. Servers are exceptional. Peter took care of us as you would expect at a top restaurant. The quality of the food was superior and the freshness of the seafood was amazing. We were 6 for a friends get together and were taken care of as if we were VIPs. For a truly great night out, I would recommend. Also, the happy hour is a good deal.
Not a big review writer but thought I needed to let others know. Had Christmas dinner with the family but couldn’t have a decent conversation over the piano player singing so loud though a cheap amplified speaker box playing 80’s sound tracks. Would have been much more enjoyable if only soft piano playing & no singing. Food a bit overpriced for what you get. Service could use a bit more polishing, trying for NY style but more Lake Worth.
I thought prime was ok. Salad was good. We got the bone in strip. Just was not great to me. Very faty and chewy. Maybe it was a bad cut as that can happen with a strip but it just wasn’t a great steak. Sides were great and service was great and piano player was great. Others said the same about their meals. Good not wonderful. It’s a great place very nice inside and piano player. On a night when everything else was totally booked in Delray Prime was not and it should be to me. Cut 432 a steakhouse around the corner was booked solid until after 10pm and plenty of seats at Prime. The manager came over to check and said they get their steaks at a special place etc etc but again it just was not a wonderful strip. A good location, ambiance, and sides, salad, and service garners a 4 star. I would recommend to try it for seafood but the two times I have had steak I would recommend other better places. They do have a number of Italian options and shellfish to try but only one fish on the menu.
We tried to make it work and gave numerous opportunities but sadly it was a bad experience. Sat outside which was pretty our waiter was fair at best and unable to manage his tables. Our apps came out cold which they replaced two. The main courses, porterhouse for 2 and filet w lobster was just ok but for a $128 steak I expect better not just ok. We told them on our reservation that it was a special anniversary but they did nothing. Matre d apologized and gave $25 gift card but I Will not be returning.
We went to Prime last night for date night. The food and wine were both outstanding. The service was top notch. Our server Joey really made our experience very special. He was very helpful & made great recommendations on both the food & wine menus. We will definitely be back.
It was disappointing that they could not cook my steak properly after two attempts. Medium should not be too hard. On the third try it was just ok. Others enjoyed their meal. The creme brûlée was nasty. Maybe give it another try but very pricey.
Prime, the restaurant that's part of Il Bacio, was a delightful departure from the noisy exuberant crowds typically found at Delray restaurants. The food was excellent, the service the same and the host was warm and friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!
Nice ambiance, we were warmly welcomed and the food is solid. This was our second time. Service was unusually bad though. The waiter left the restaurant in the middle of our dinner and no one was sent to attend to our table. Finally, we get another waiter’s attention so we can order desert and they think of nothing better than including a 20pct tip to our bill for a small party of 4! We’d like to see service improvements to return.
As usual, the food and service (Juan) are outstanding. However, the music was so loud we could not converse comfortably. And we’re in our 40s. When we asked the manager to lower the volume, he politely explained that it was as low as possible. We found out that the owner likes it like this. Too bad the customers don’t. After all, that’s why he’s in business: to provide an outstanding customer experience. We overheard the table next to us make the same request and they, too, were denied. Unfortunately for Prime, it was our last visit.
Food is too pricey for what it is! Steak was not of a High quality (flavor). like say a Peter Lugers or Ruth's Chris etc. First steak was too salty, as well as the sides we ordered. Appetizers we had were very good- on the mark! The brussel sprouts were ordered were average-nothing special. Cooked well-yes, but basic. The Chef came to our table, he was very nice and accommodating, and redid our items. I'm not a "complainer," but I know food; I cook, and understand good quality food when I meet it. I mean no personal offense to the Chef or the food- just giving my educated personal opinion.
From the moment we walked through the doors everyone went above and beyond to make our 34th Wedding Anniversary special. Merrett Sellers the General Manager was very attentive and made outstanding recommendations. Our server Gary was very personable and anticipated our every need. We will definitely recommend Prime to our family and friends.
The restaurant itself is quite beautiful. When we arrived, we learned they do not validate valet parking, which was not expected and very disappointing. The music was so loud that we couldn’t hears ourselves talk. We asked that they turn the music down, which they accommodated after 2 requests. Service was uneven and the main course was warm, not hot as we expect. Prime indicates that it is a steak house, which may be an inaccurate assumption, but steaks were not seasoned and the meat, particularly the 20 ounce bone in strip was tough. We waited an inordinate amount of time to receive our check and then the owner/manager told us his credit card machine was not working. You would think that he would have given us a break on the bill or offer us dessert on the house. Also, they don’t have regular coffee and charge for a second cup. All in all, it was very disappointing with the exception of the shrimp/crabmeat cocktail. That was delicious!
The atmosphere here is one of the nicest in the area but the service was very disappointing on my most recent experience. Maitre'd was rude, server was rushing and sarcastic. Food was good but nothing amazing, barely any dressing on the salad. Entrees were good size and nicely done. Was there for a special occasion (which was noted on the reservation) but received no special recognition or treatment by the staff at all. The free "dessert" was some kind of ice cream that was filled with ice, not very good and pointless. I've had much better experiences at this restaurant in the past, unfortunately I'm not planning on going back any time soon based on this recent outing.
Amazing! From the moment we arrived, greeted by Merrett, the general manager, to the moment we left, amazing. The atmosphere is romantic- low-mid lighting, comfortable chairs, and Sinatra crooning in the background. Our waiter, Juan, very attentive, but not intrusive. Zach, our busser, keeping the water glasses filled and our table cleared of empty plates. Every morsel of food from bread to dessert was perfect. This is my second time to Prime and I enjoyed both visits. The menu has an excellent variety, however, if there is something you want that is not on the menu, just chat with Merrett. He will do what he can to accommodate you and make your visit to Prime amazing.
Picture old Italian ambience with crystal chandeliers, large wine selections, cigars and Sinatra playing in the background. Then the best service and best food you can imagine. After dinner the back of Prime turns into a night club with outside bars, music and dancing. Highly recommend!
PRIME is a nice comfortable restaurant. It is interestingly decorated. Tables are comfortably apart.
The service is very attentive. Bread is brought to the table with butter and a vegetable puree.
There is a nice list of appetizers. The mushroom with sausage is something I really enjoy. They give you five large mushrooms. My wife had a very large wedge salad with a heaping portion of blue cheese. She also had the calamari which was a very large portion and was excellent. She had enough to take home for the next night.
I had the pork chop which was like a double cut. The sauce on it was quite good. I was able to bring part of the chop home.
We did not have dessert or coffee.
One annoyance is that parking is difficult in this area and the lot next to the restaurant charged $10.00
I should also mention that the restaurant had sent us a 25% off coupon for our anniversary
