Prime - Delray Beach Ratings and Reviews
We were told it was very elegant. Atmosphere was lovely but we had the feeling through the entire meal that the waiter and the host who kept coming to our table wanted us to order more to jack up the bill. We felt very pressured. It was our friends' 40th anniversary and we mentioned that dessert time. The host insisted we order the carrot cake for $16.00! We ordered the bread pudding instead. They brought out carrot cake with a sparkler in it-we thought they were giving it because it was our friend's anniversary. When we said we ordered bread pudding the immediately whisked it away and brought the pudding and of course charged us plus included a 20% tip. Just not worth it
As I walked through the door, I knew PRIME would be extraordinary. It fulfilled my every wish. The service was excellent, the food was outstanding and the dessert was mind blowing. A thank you to everyone who served us. My husband and I will be back very soon . By the way, the Cosmo was delicious. Karen Fishkin
Best restaurant we have found in Florida. Highly, highly recommend! Best scallops and filet we've had in many years. The shrimp and crab cocktail also fabulous. Also, do yourself a favor and order the carrot cake, even if you order it to go. Loved Prime and hope to return the next time we're in this part of the state!
We have eaten at Prime at least 5 times during the past six months and have always enjoyed the dinner. They have a special menu which is great and everyone always enjoys the food and the drinks are great also. They take reservations and always have a table ready for us. The service and food is always great. The outside patio is very nice.
We were really looking forward to eating at Prime. Other than the posh ambiance the restaurant lacks in everything else. The sushi was bland, the caesar salad had no dressing, my husband had the pork chop which was dry and couldnt cut through it and my oriecchietti with brocali rabe and sausage was just down right dry and uneatable (I never had pasta that was gritty). The chef really needs a course in pasta101. We should have realized how bad it was when we saw the restaurant was empty. Save your money. Total let down.
Service was terrible. We weren't seated for a half hour after our reservation even though we saw empty tables from the time we got there. Our waiter was overwhelmed and distracted. Didn't pick up our dirty dishes until we asked him to, never offered us bread, confused our orders. Dinner took over two hours and the steaks were bland. Generally bad experience.
My boyfriend and I had a reservation, and were seated right away. It took 1/2 hour for our salads to appear, which tasted fine. Then another half hour for our entrees. My dish was spicy, which I knew. But, half way through it my lips were on fire. I love spicy and hot food, but this was too much. It was too late to send it back. I tasted his salmon, which was terrible. It was dried out, and at the end, inedible. That's the piece he gave me. The dessert was great, but I don't think we will be going back. Our server, and the manager were all very polite, and caring.
Food is terrific an amazing value for the quality of food.
Only knock would be waiter we needed to repeat order several times and he still got wrong and he suggested us purchase side dishes that our order didn't come with and every dish had potatoes n veg.
We never touched the 3 sides we ordered since large portions.
Thisp was by far the most disappointing dining experience. We were treated rudely by the manager and could not get anyone to wait on us until we complained after 20 minutes only to have two waiters arguing about who was to take care is our table . The one waiter was very patristic and obnoxious so we decided it Would be best to cut our loses and picked up and left.
We will not be returning. It's a shame the place has a nice ambiance but if the staff is incapable of good service, all bets are off.
Dinner was outstanding. Our server was attentive and special request for specific pasta was made and delivered. The atmosphere and decor is elegant with hanging chandeliers, draperies and painted wall mural. The maître-d visited each table. Two guests ordered the Veal Chop Parmesan which was a beautiful presentation on the bone and several tables near ours asked our server about the dish. The 2 for $55 early dinner was a great value with a house or Caesar salad (we had both) and dessert-we chose a delicious chocolate bread pudding and sorbet. We also had the classic shrimp and crab meat appetizer which had 2 colossal shrimp and crab meat with cocktail sauce. We also had 2 bottles of Pellegrino. Note the bread was delicious.
Worst steak and experience I've had in a restaurant in 30 years. My wife and I both ordered filets. Her medium, mine medium rate. When they arrive hers is medium plus, mine is well done. Waiter takes mine back but never offers to keep my wife's warm or redo. Mine comes back rarer than ahi tuna. So I send it back again. Waiter still leaves my wife's dish which is getting cold. Mine comes back again but is now just really rare. 3 strikes and we're out! So manger comes over , offers to recook both of our meals except we are now 1:30 hours into this dinner.
We're done. So waiter comes back with" the manager wants to deduct 50% of both your entrees".! We never ate any of it! They should be ashamed to call this place "Prime". Subprime would be a compliment.
Waiter was fairly new, couldn't answer questions and gave us faulty info about a meal, which 2 of us ordered and were disappointed with, as a result. Even the maitre d offered to do something with our meals, but never followed through. He must have forgotten about us. It wasn't busy. Someone wanted a cup of tea after dinner, but they had no tea. Really?!?!? When the bill came, the waiter told us the gratuity on the bill was based on pre discounted prices. Sushi was half price that night and we all ordered it along with salads and over priced drinks. No one ordered dessert. The gratuity was 70 plus dollars. We probably would have given the waiter 50.00 at best. He wasn't very good. We should not have had to pay 70.00 to this waiter. We did, but grudgingly. We should have been told about this policy. No wonder they are not busy like all the other restaurants in Delray. Way overpriced for average food. This was our first time at Prime and the last. We were very disappointed with our dining experience at Prime.
i guess the rationale about NOT going out on holiday's still stands. i took my bride out for Valentine's Day and this was clearly not the thing to do. we arrived late [but called to inform them] and were seated within five minutes with a choice of tables [inside or out]. that was the only good thing that occurred. from ordering at 705pm we waited a lengthy 35 minutes for our appetizers [an undersized kanizu roll compared with what we get in a sushi restaurant]. no bread, no offer of a drink or an intermezzo, just refills of water and no explanation of why it took so long. then we waited an additional 40 minutes for our appetizers. the explanation from the waiter was " its a holiday and we are full". i'm going to assume that any restauranteur knows how to deal with a holiday but i digress. the chilean sea bass was very tasty however the size was about 5 ounces which i think is a bit small for the price [more on that later]. however, my place setting was missing a fork and the risotto i asked for [just a taste] was not on the plate. an additional vegetable was added. the general manager said that the waiter could not order a "taste" of the risotto only the gm. ok so i don't each mashed potatoes and told the waiter that but again i digress. so we did not want any of the deserts but asked the waiter to bring strawberries that were not dipped in chocolate [dietary restrictions]. of course he brought four that were dipped and said there were none available undipped [really??!!]. so we talked to the gm and he offered apologies but nothing more [not even an offer to pay our valet]. we talked to the maitre'd and he offered apologies and a $ 25 coupon on their new restaurant. then the bill came and lo and behold there was an automatic gratuity of 20% added to the bill. we again talked to the maitre'd and again he offered nothing but platitudes. i think its fair to say this was not the best performance by Prime in any manner.
Spent Valentines dinner at Prime. My first time there. First impression is the ambience and decor was modern and warm. Open space with a comfortable bar in main lobby. Service and food was spot on. Our waiter was very attentive and knowledge about the menu. Had a classic shrimp and crab appetizer that was just enough to not make you feel unsatisfiied. Short Ribs with Pokenta and wild mushrooms was to die for.
Although I thought the overall tab was pricy for a three course prefixed menu it was Valentines so understandable. I am looking forward to the full menu and will go back soon. With live music it is I think a great place for romantic dinner or with friends.
Filet mignon was over cooked, and for the money was a poor cut. They also got my side wrong and when the server went back to get the correct one they were out. Main problem is the dining experience is on par with Outback, but they charge like they're Ruths Chris.
Food and drinks were excellent. The atmosphere was very romantic ! The only critique is that the waiter was not very friendly, took awhile to come check on us, and seemed to only recommend the most expensive items on the menu. The menu has great options - can't go wrong with Steak, Sushi, and Italian Dinner for two with a round of drinks will run about $100
My friend liked the Sushi so much we went back the next night however we shared a Wedge Salad and the Seafood Fra Diavolo which was good but not great. They have a fabulous Tomato Sauce made with fresh tomatoes that is right up there with what you find in Italy that they put with the Veal parmigiana but the sauce on this was a bit disappointing. It was a very large portion and perfect for sharing. All in all it's a very good restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere and Victoria is one of the best waiters i've ever had in a fine dining restaurant.
