Prime - Delray Beach Ratings and Reviews
We were welcomed back with open arms by Andrei the maître d'. It is simply breathtaking from the crystal chandeliers, baby grand piano, private wine room seating to the outdoor tropical gardens where we enjoyed our Mother’s Day dinner. The ambiance was nothing short of the old Prime.
The rack of lamb was suburb and the service was impeccable. Cooked to perfection. I couldn't have asked for a better day.
Food was OK service is horrible had to wait for waiter always food came forgot sides. Then had to go to bar bartenders were to busy talk about who had better bed talk never saw anything like this before had to call them like five times before they saw us to order drink and then drink was straight vodka not good at all would not go back again sorry for reveiw
I first heard of prime moving to their new locations right off the ave by a friend. I was told it was so beautiful inside and it's a must try, so we did. I happened to make a reservation for two on a Wednesday for Lobster Madness. When I arrived, I was taken away by how beautiful the restaurant looked inside. We were sat promptly and our server Glenn greeted us right away. We than told him we wanted to do the lobster special, he said you made a wonderful choice. When the food arrived the lobsters were so fresh, meaty, and tender. We couldn't believe how good they tasted and for the price, unbeatable!!! Overall the experience was amazing and the service was so attentive. We will be definitely visiting Prime again and recommending it to all
Front and back doors wide open on an 80 plus day. You walk in and the heat just hits you. I asked about shutting the door and they said they couldnt. We went for happy hour before dinner. Barmaid was charging $20 for two drinks which I questioned. She then lowered it to $16. Food was so so. There was a table near us which I believe was owners family. The young child had the mother's cellphone flashlight flashing it all over the dining room which was annoying as it hits you in the eye.
Very good food and extremely poor customer relations. We will never go back. A very nice experience was ruined at the end. The manager refused to allow us to use our Charity Dine gift Certificate. He said the computer wouldn't allow it. That is nonsense. He could over-ride the computer but chose not to. Now there is no way we would ever go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Brought wrong wine first followed by correct bottle which wine list said Napa & was actually Sonoma so incorrect wine list. We had to ask for bread which the waiter said he forgot. Food was very average nothing special & was our anniversary so they did provide a bread pudding at no charge that was ok.
The only good part was they sat us outside on private deck with great view of the city people watching was great. I would not go back to this one too many nice restaurants in the area.
We were out on date night.Cucumber mint martini was fabulous and refreshing,Crabcake was ok I thought did not need jalepeno Porterhouse was cooked perfect but pricy creamed spinach was great Twice bake was a twice bake They seem to have been out of candles that evening inside restaurant due to long table event outside but our waiter Eric went above and beyond to exceed our expectations and found a make shift one!Music was great a lil' Frank Sinatra.Cant go wrong 2 thumbs up!
This was my first visit to Prime and we had a wonderful experience. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating and the food wad delicious. Started off with the beet and feta salad which was very good and very large. Had the filet mignon which was a little bland, but still good. The atmosphere is lovely, nice place for a special occasion, and it's right on Atlantic Ave which is fun and lively. Will definitely return.
We, once again, had a good evening and a good meal at Prime. There were six of us and we began at the bar for Happy Hour and then to dinner. The only problem is that they announced that they were moving to El Bacio down the street. We hope it works for them and us.
We arrived on ime. Even though there were tables available, we were unapologetically asked to sit at the bar and COME BACK in 20 minutes. They didn't even offer to come get us when they were ready to seat us, After we were seated it took an hour and a half for our entrees to arrive. Food was fine, but what you would expect from any steakhouse, Thre was a lack of concern for the diners by the management. Suggestion: 1) when you told us there was a wait - offer to come get us. Not make it OUR responsibility to find you and get our table. Tht started the evening on the wrong foot, 2) offer to buy us a drink apologizing for the wait. 3) empower your wait staff to "make it up"to dissatisfied patrons (he knew we were upset about the wait),
We had a friend in from out of town and wanted to go somewhere nice for dinner. We were seated on the upper patio with a wonderful street view so we could people watch on the busy avenue. Our food was excellent as was the service and we had a wonderful evening. Thank you, Prime, and Open Table.
Had eaten at Prime a few times in the past and was pleased. Had an ok meal last time but one of my guests steak was not edible and was sent back only to have another one that was just as bad. I was not going to write them off after one bad experience so we took friends there the other night. Now I am done going back. The steaks were not of the quality you expect from an expensive restaurant. The steaks were tough and not of the quality we get at top steakhouses. The sides were terrible, creamed spinach that was waterey, potatoes that were not edible, etc. Don't know how they can get customers back with the quality, or lack of it.
Terrible service! I received a call confirming my reservation for the evening at which time I inquired about the corkage fee. I was told the fee was $25. When we arrived, we were told the fee was $30 per bottle. Our waiter spoke to the manager who advised that he had changed the fee but failed to tell whoever confirmed our reservation. After some discussion, the manager agreed to reduce the fee to $25 per bottle, but when our check arrived, we were charged the $30 per bottle. Had we not been so frustrated by the poor service we received, ie, waiting almost 1 hour to receive our salad course, waited another stretch for the main course which was delivered without clean utensils, we may have stayed to argue the extra $10 on the bill.
What started out as a romantic night out ended at the one place I would have never expected.
Then we made the mistake of ordering dinner, OMG should have known DO NOT order Italian here, they claim its a specialty (to whom I don't know) my fiancee ordered what I would consider a fail safe dish (chicken) and it could not have been more dry and tough, it was not edible. After bringing it to the waiters attention and then the maitre'd who came over and all he did was say that he was sorry. No offer for replacement, taken off the bill NOTHING, I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE OR RETURN.... To many nicer places to visit and feel like your welcomed even if you don't spend $400 on dinner and 2 bottles of champange as I did.
We live in Delray and dine out at least once per week. We've enjoyed lunch @ Prime but this was our first - and last - visit for dinner. The food is overpriced & unexceptional & the 2 hosts are rude & pretentious. We spent over $200 for a meal that wasn't much better than a chain steakhouse. Our server was nice, but clueless. Our $16 Jumbo Shrimp & Crab Cocktails contained 2 medium shrimp & 2 lumps of crab. The Famous Gin Cocktail Sauce tasted suspiciously like bottled Heinz. If their steaks are truly prime, they need a new purveyor. Ours had a strange, odd taste. The twice-baked potato (1/2 for $8) looked & tasted like Ore Ida. Skip dinner and try lunch. Their 10 for $10 offseason lunch deal offers a good meal at a reasonable price.
The music was so loud that we could not hear each other talk. We asked for it to be turned down and were ignored. The fish was frozen and recooked. We had to ask for salt & pepper and after we finished the salad they asked if we wanted fresh pepper. We thought they would validate the parking since we had diner there and they said they do not validate. Will not go back.
Prime was not bad, it just wasn't that good either. We waited almost 40 minutes for our table, even though we had a reservation (thus defeating the purpose entirely). When we got to our table, it had a broken lamp. Our food was cooked the way we requested, but my steak was rubbery. As expensive as dinner was, the entire experience was just... mediocre. I probably won't be back.
So this was our choice for Valentine's Day. In all fairness to the restaurant, Valentine's Day is probably a tough day for restaurants to do well. First of all, somehow Open Table should convey to its users when a restaurant has a price fixed menu (instead of their regular menu). The food was ok, but my wife doesn't eat seafood, and their choices for their fixed menu were very limited. Second, we are early eaters (6pm), got there when there were less than 10 other tables seated, and still took almost 3 hours to eat. We will give it a second shot when they offer their full menu, but not overly impressed with first experience here.
1. No salt or pepper on the table
2. a Grandma dancing in the aisle pushing a baby stroller
3. Infants crying
4. Two dogs at the next table(indoors)
5. cold spinach
6. steak overcooked (ordered medium, arrived well done)
7. fingerling potatoes with no seasoning at all, just dry cut up potatoes
8." boneless short ribs with creamy polenta and mushroom fricassee"= a tasteless gravy with three mushroom caps
As is the case here, trying to do everything (steak, sushi, Italian) and trying to attract everyone (families with babies) to a restaurant with steakhouse prices does not work.
our waiter was too busy so we needed to request another waiter. 1st waiter wouldn't allow any alterations to the menu and took our order incorrectly. we didn't receive our sides and had to reorder and wait for them to be prepared. my veal milianese wasn't good so i sent it back. when the bill arrived they origionally charged us for everything until we said something and they reluctantly agreed. we will never dine there again
Upon entering this beautiful restaurant we were anticipating a great dining experience but were very disappointed.
The waiter was polite but a bit of a wise guy. The soup was wonderful but it was downhill from there. The server had to ask who got what, which is indicative of poor training, and not expected in a fine restaurant.
The crab claws were not fresh Florida Stone crabs as advertised. They were waterlogged and I think they had been frozen. I did not enjoy them at all. The short ribs were greasy and overcooked and the deserts were terrible, cheap commercial cheese cake and raspberry sorbet with a refrigerator odor and taste. With all the good places in Delray this one will not be revisited.
Upon our arrival it took them several minutes to locate our reservation. We had an 8:15 and were told the table would be ready at 8:30. Okay no problem 15 minutes we went to the bar. At 8:40 my husband went to the desk to check on the table -so far 25 mins late. We were told it was still not ready to come back and check in another 10 minutes ( he should have come to let US know at the bar not have us keep walking back and forth). By 9:00 it was still not ready so we ALL stood up at the desk to wait for our table. We finally were seated at 9:15 - one hour late WITH a reservation. The food turned out to be mediocre and the table was in a curtained off room - no view and next to the bathrooms. Total disappointment & won't go back.
My husband and I took out of town friends to Prime for dinner. I'm hard-pressed to remember service in a fine restaurant to be so poor. It took an unusually long time in receiving our salads/soups, and our waiter related there were 2 large parties in the back room. Several times we asked him when we would be served our entrees. After waiting 45 minutes, my husband made a polite third inquiry-this time to the restaurant Manager-why our entrees hadn't arrived. The Manager was unprofessionally belligerent and abrupt. If you dine at Prime on a Saturday, bring a book-you'll be sure to polish off a few chapters, and don't dare complain to the Manager because he'll cut you to the quick!
