Prime - Delray Beach Ratings and Reviews
Very good- was annoyed at the "sharing charge", we split an entree but ordered 2appetizers and a drink so not different spending wise than just getting 2 entrees. I haven't had a sharing charge in a very long time.
They did take it off after we kind of complained and because we were first time visitors, but that makes no sense to e
We celebrated Valentines Day with 3 other couples. The 8 of us had a delightful evening. The food was excellent and for a Fixed Price menu, we were amazed at the number of choices we had.
In addition, the service was outstanding and the private dining alcove we had made for a truly lovely dining experience.
The food here was quite good. We shared a pear and arugula salad to start and the portion was huge. The accompanying bread was wonderful. We both chose a land and sea combination which was a filet mignon with crab meat. We ordered a side of creamed spinach which was less than stellar. Steak was cooked perfectly and a marvelous combination with the crab meat.
Our complaints... the wine. They were out of the bottle ordered and “offered” a different choice..offer means at the same price. But when asked, no , a much higher price. So we picked something different. Tuesday nights are advertised as half off dinner entrees. We asked when we were seated if there were any restrictions and were told the two ineligible steaks. When our server came, we asked and again about restrictions and were told the same two steaks that were ineligible. Our bill comes and of course, the entrees were not reduced. It is a problem to credit back the card etc. Plus it leaves a bad impression... I didn’t hear the offer made to the nearby table. I am aware buyer has to beware, but certainly expect a higher standard. Plus the interior of the restaurant is very dark...hard to read the menu,,,had to bring out the flashlight on the phone. Doubt that we will return.
We made a reservation for outdoor seating online (I thought this was a great feature since so often one cannot be so specific with web reservations). Upon arrival, we were promptly shown an indoor table. When I said 'no, we reserved an outdoor table', we were told 'oh, outdoors seating is reserved tonight for a private party'. No apology, no offer of a free cocktail or appetizer as an accommodation, just 'nope, sit here'. Furthermore, I'll confess our party found it disturbing how empty the restaurant was, but upon further review, while the food was of a reasonable quality (nothing exceptional), the pricing was, in fact, just the opposite. Not the most expensive restaurant by a long shot, but certainly out of character with the typical pricing scheme of the area in which it is located. Pass this one by. Unless it is a special occasion, you can do better.
Eerily quiet for a restaurant on a Wednesday night on Atlantic Ave. We had reserved a table outside on the patio and were the only ones there. No fault of management but way too buggy and needed to move inside where there were plenty of tables to choose from. I came to have a steak but the manager kept raving about the all you can eat stone crabs for $69 so I gave them a try. They were very small and not cracked across the claw but more like a car ran over them. They were difficult to eat because of all the shell pieces. Needless to say they made out pretty well on the deal. My wife had the rigatoni with Sunday sauce. It was nothing spectacular. When we got the check we found it strange that we were charged an extra 95 cents for each dish. The manager clearly said that the crabs were $69.00 and the rigatoni price on the menu said $30 not $39.95. When I asked the waiter about it he shrugged his shoulders and said that was the price but would check with the manager. The $1.80 was taken off but how many others would not bother to say anything. All in all it was nothing special and I don’t think I would return.
This restaurant hits all the right notes. From the moment you enter and are greeted by Merritt , the experience is special.....great martinis at the bar, beautiful decorating, tables far apart , service concerned but not annoying, and a very varied menu, that includes a sunset 3 course menu, if you arrive before 6:30. The food is delicious, and the portions large, and they are very accommodating about modifications. We have been here more than once and plan on returning, again and again and again..............
Although known for its steaks, our group All ordered seafood dishes. Scallops were particularly good. Good friendly service. Nice wine list but pricey, including stiff corkage fee of $35 ($70 for a magnum which is what we had). Ambiance is more for those who are fans of Sinatra (not really my thing).
Prime is an old school (in a good way) Italian/steak/seafood restaurant. Ambiance is elegant. Servers are exceptional. Peter took care of us as you would expect at a top restaurant. The quality of the food was superior and the freshness of the seafood was amazing. We were 6 for a friends get together and were taken care of as if we were VIPs. For a truly great night out, I would recommend. Also, the happy hour is a good deal.
Not a big review writer but thought I needed to let others know. Had Christmas dinner with the family but couldn’t have a decent conversation over the piano player singing so loud though a cheap amplified speaker box playing 80’s sound tracks. Would have been much more enjoyable if only soft piano playing & no singing. Food a bit overpriced for what you get. Service could use a bit more polishing, trying for NY style but more Lake Worth.
I thought prime was ok. Salad was good. We got the bone in strip. Just was not great to me. Very faty and chewy. Maybe it was a bad cut as that can happen with a strip but it just wasn’t a great steak. Sides were great and service was great and piano player was great. Others said the same about their meals. Good not wonderful. It’s a great place very nice inside and piano player. On a night when everything else was totally booked in Delray Prime was not and it should be to me. Cut 432 a steakhouse around the corner was booked solid until after 10pm and plenty of seats at Prime. The manager came over to check and said they get their steaks at a special place etc etc but again it just was not a wonderful strip. A good location, ambiance, and sides, salad, and service garners a 4 star. I would recommend to try it for seafood but the two times I have had steak I would recommend other better places. They do have a number of Italian options and shellfish to try but only one fish on the menu.
We tried to make it work and gave numerous opportunities but sadly it was a bad experience. Sat outside which was pretty our waiter was fair at best and unable to manage his tables. Our apps came out cold which they replaced two. The main courses, porterhouse for 2 and filet w lobster was just ok but for a $128 steak I expect better not just ok. We told them on our reservation that it was a special anniversary but they did nothing. Matre d apologized and gave $25 gift card but I Will not be returning.
