Best steak I've had in Cincinnati!
The quality and flavor of the food was not on par with the price level of the menu. The service was mediocre, and the ambiance was not that of a typical fine dining establishment. There are several other restaurants nearby that offer a much better experience with superior food for the same price.
We visited Prime on a Saturday evening with a reservation. Even though it was a busy weekend, when you're paying a premium to eat at this restaurant, the service should not be this poor. We arrived early and were told we would not be seated until our reservation time, which is fine. I told the host, who seemed completely disinterested in assisting us in any way, that we would be at the bar, and he replied that he would not come find us so we needed to come back to him.
We went to the bar, which was understaffed, to wait for our table...which we watched sit empty until the time of our reservation.
The food was fine, but the service for a restaurant of that caliber was unacceptable. There are a lot of options for steak in the city, and certainly many who provide much better service. They forgot to bring us our appetizer and no one was monitoring our drinks - we had to continually ask for refills of water or another glass of wine. Overall, extremely disappointing for the money that was spent and we will not be recommending Prime to our friends, family or clients who are looking for a place to eat downtown.
As always the service and food were top notch.
I’ve been sitting here for a few minutes just trying to think of the correct words to describe Prime Cincinnati. They literally left me speechless. The owner, Nelson, took the time to personalize menus for my daughter’s 15th birthday. The smile that crossed her face warmed my heart. But the wonderful evening was only starting. The service was impeccable! We had the distinct pleasure of having Arwa and her assistant Zach as our waitstaff. Arwa went over the entire menu for my daughter and really made her feel special. Arwa made my daughter feel like an adult and a part of the decision making process. She just loved the extra attention. But I’d be remised to neglect the the outstanding food presented to us like we were royalty. The chef hit the nail on the head with the the tender, melt in your mouth filets, perfectly prepared lobster tails, and succulent oysters on the half shell. We both literally moaned with each bite. Long story short, if you want fine dining with a personal touch that makes you feel like family look no further. Prime has it all!
Great Food Outstanding Customer Service Just All Around Spectacular
Great - appreciate the personalized menus on late notice.
Its is nice to go to dinner with friend, not so much formal, not so much casual. Taste are fine. and side dish also good. Wine is average.
I was looking for the wow factor in my cowboy cut ribeye and I feel I could cook it the same if not better don't get me wrong the food was good just not " can't wait to come back good' .
We were celebrating our 45 wedding anniversary. My food was very good, but my husbands steak wasn’t even warm. Our server Gabrielle, wasn’t very good however her helper, I believe his name was Wayne, was excellent.
Everything was wonderful!! From the moment we walked in and were greeted.
I enjoyed the team approach. You never felt like you were waiting on ANYTHING!!
Very spot on.
Food was absolutely AMAZING!!!
Music In The background but too loud where we couldn’t hold conversation.
I couldnt ask for a better experience!
We will be back!!!
Best place in Cincinnati. Excellent food, service and music.
We had a great lunch at the corner of 7th and Walnut and it is a great place to people watch from the tables in the bar.
We went to Prime for my birthday. Service was AWESOME!!! They were very attentive and on top of our service. We ordered appetizers and we're very pleased. The meatballs and the deviled eggs were both very delicious. But then my husband got a cowboy ribeye and although he said it was very good, I tried it and thought the meat was dry. Also he asked for it medium and it was more like medium well. I ordered the trio filet and although the steak was tasty and cooked medium rare perfectly, the sauces on top COMPLETELY overwhelmed the steak. I ended up scraping off the toppings and then still didn't finish the steak. The toppings should compliment the meat not overpower it. We also ordered the truffle Mac and cheese.....waaaaaayyyy to truffly. The truffle flavor was all you could taste instead of the cheese. We might give it another try, but for $146 for our meal, we expected closer to perfection. It's like they don't taste their own dishes and have lost touch with what their food tastes like. Fancy ingredients don't always make it better.
The service was impeccable! And the food was heavenly! Thanks for a great evening!!
My fiancé and I had dinner this past Saturday evening at Prime for Restaurant Week. She ordered the deviled eggs, steak trio (topped with pepper sauce, crab, and blue cheese/horseradish, respectively) and I ordered the Fall apple salad and the same steak trio. Our appetizers were terrific -- my fiancé thought the deviled eggs were terrific (maybe some more paprika next time, but really good!) and my apple salad was terrific (maybe bigger pieces of apple next time instead of diced). Our steak was obviously cooked perfectly at medium rare and the sauces were incredible (pepper sauce probably needs less salt and the blue cheese/horseradish sauce ratio was a bit too heavy in the horseradish category). And then came dessert. Our waitress, Hope, definitely picked out the perfect desserts for us and the chocolate cake and key lime pie were fantastic! By the way, the next time you go to Prime, ask for Hope, she's the best down-to-earth waitress and will take care of you and your guest(s). Overall, a fantastic experience at Prime, which was just voted First Place in the United States for USD Beef steakhouse. Give them a try and you won't be disappointed!
We usually are waited on by Kevin and Jack, however this time they weren’t available so we had John and Zach. Kevin is very knowledgeable in my mother’s food allergies and knows exactly what she can and cannot have. Before we got there, he gave John the rundown of her allergies and John was amazing! He would double check with Kevin if there were any questions at all! We absolutely love Prime and it has become our pre show tradition!
Food, service, ambience all excellent! I can’t say enough good things about this place!
Went for restaurant week with my son. Was happy to find a reasonably priced bottle of wine that was very good. We sat a a high top in the bar area which while not my preference worked out. Ice because I r joyed the live music. We had the apple salad which was outstanding. The Camembert ‘croutons’ were amazing. Very good bread with rosemary infused butter was served. I should’ve ordered the filet choices since it was a steak house but ordered the seafood pasta dish. Didn’t come in the promised ‘saffron’ broth but a pasty salty deep tomato ‘sauce’. Edible but disappointing. The seafood in it was very good though. But the sauce overpowered it. My son had the beef medallions done three ways. This did was excellent but didn’t come with side dishes. We decided to order the baked acorn squash with Boursin spinach topping. It was huge and very delicious. It could easily be a vegetarian main course. I had a small banana cream desert which was yummy. My son had a chocolate peanut butter cake that he liked. The service was good but I had to ask for the ‘restaurant week’ menu.
Our service staff was phenomenal. This was a special night for me because my son came home from college and went to dinner with me.
Service was outstanding.
Great food and great service. We were very tight on time and our server took charge to get out order placed quickly and then followed up to make sure we had time to eat our food. The only downside of our visit was there was a live band playing. Much too loud. It made it tough to carry on a conversation. Needs to be much, much softer to be background music!!!
Love the theater menu! Three courses, fixed price. Great service! Quick, easy, delicious meal before the show!
The food was excellent. Our diner servers were excellent. Very disappointed with the bar. We sat for quite a while before a bartender addressed us and it was only when I waved my hands to get their attention. There were 4 of them working, I would have thought someone would serve us. His excuse was he did not see us. Shame on him.
I've eaten here enough to know that this day's experience isn't typical, but overall I am still satisfied. Service was very slow: 1.5+ hours for lunch is not acceptable at a downtown business-friendly restaurant. I assume this was due to the private party and being Restaurant Week which is what brought my table of 4 in that day. The value for that promotion is not a deal, in my opinion. I would have rather had a regular menu experience. However, the desserts were delectable and something I wouldn't have tried if not for the special.
My SO and I went here for our anniversary that happened to fall on restaurant week. I made the reservation on open table and the day of the reservation the restaurant called me asking what my SO’s name was.. when we got there they had a menu made up special for us that said happy anniversary Jessica and Eric. The service was OUTSTANDING! And the food... well the food exceeded our expectations. Everything we ate was so delicious. And let’s talk butter.... the butter they serve with their bread is literally the best butter I’ve ever eaten. EVER. I asked where I could buy, and sadly they make it in house so I couldn’t keep it stocked in my fridge. If you’re looking for a place to eat that has friendly staff, amazing food, great atmosphere AND is very reasonably priced for a nice restaurant downtown.. I encourage you to go!! Go now.
My wife and I had a wonderful birthday celebration at this excellent restaurant !!! Our servers,
Gabby and John, treated us like family and were very helpful ! We both ordered steak because
we just learned that the owners were in Ashville, NC, accepting an award for the finest angus
beef in the entire US !!! Needless to say, we had the best Filet Mignon we have EVER had and
we have been to restaurants all over the globe. I would recommend this restaurant to my mom
if she was still with us.
Excellent dining experience!
Good food. Just not so good service in the bar.
This place is amazing. I enjoyed the food and the service we received. I've already made reservations again!
We were really disappointed with the service and quality of drinks from the bar and server. However, the food was pretty good.
Bad service. We had to ask for several basic items for the table and food. Halibut was overcooked, terrible balsamic vinaigrette on caprese salad. Good musicians but awkward staging and tacky songs. Overall, over-priced for what it is.
Excellent service, the waitress was very knowledgeable and kind. The king crab was absolutely delicious. They even brought me dessert for my birthday.
Our food was delicious and the service was some of the best I've experienced.
We had an excellent evening. The Filet Mignon was tremendous. I enjoyed the lobster bisque. The crab dip was very good and only slightly spicy. The service was excellent, with just the right amount of attention.
Our reservations was at 8pm. We were seated immediately which is what I loved. I was in a party of four and three of us ordered Baked Potatoes. It was a little disappointing that they ran out of baked potatoes. Only one of us were able to get one, it was a little disappointing that they still charged us for the replacement of mash potatoes, even though they ran out of what we originally wanted.
Nice romantic place to spend a birthday. Great food and service!
Crab cakes were more bread than anything and not very tasty. Lobster Bisque was nothing special.
Filet was great, and so was the Mac n Cheese
Service was great! Excellent wine selection. This was our first visit and we will go back.
Awesome date night experience. Great food and service.
