Prime & Provisions Steakhouse
While the menu reconnects with traditional steakhouse roots, the decor highlights the vintage opulence of 222 North LaSalle's "Crown Building" and creates a social experience that connects the modern-day patron with the sophistication and glamor of the era in which the building was first constructed.
Prime & Provisions also offers a variety of private and semi-private dining spaces, including Prime Private, one of the largest and most intimate private dining rooms in Chicago.

Food & Service was great
Food was great vibe was amazing
Our waiter Nathaniel was above and beyond! He gave great recommendations! Despite the pandemic he hands down made our experience. All of the staff were amazing!
The drinks, appetizer, dinner, and dessert were all phenomenal!!!!
Great experience. our first time at this place and was supper good.
The steak, white fish, and roasted mushrooms had no taste. The macaroni and cheese and table fried chicken was really good.
Waitress was amazing! The food was Great. The facts that Covid is still going on and we had to sit outside in 30 degree weather was no problem, they have heaters that makes you feel like your inside.
Steak was dry and lacked flavor, baked potato was dry and overcooked, lobster Mac n cheese and drinks were delicious. I don’t mind paying for good food but this meal was definitely overpriced and I expected more based on reviews.
Everything was super nice. A little bit noisy, but it was tolerable and ok.
Everything was great!
Our waiter was awesome!!! Very attentive and they even made accommodations as we were too cold sitting by the front door so they moved us! We are so thankful!
Too expensive . I spent $400 and they added $80 gratuity fir the 3 of us. We were seated in a tent like seating with heaters running and it was still freezing. Food was good , deserts were good.
It was a great experience! We ate outside in their heated tears and it was very warm! Food was fabulous service very attentive! Great dinner
Nice for outside dining. Dress warm, but it wasn’t to cold. Waiters were good, also
The food and our server Amanda were excellent. My primary complaint is that we wait 40 minutes before being seated despite having made a reservation a month in advance. There was a time limit on tables that was not being enforced until the manager realized how many tables had been waiting to be seated. Many customers waited up to an hour for a table. We did not even find out about the time limit until we asked about it. There was nothing listed on the reservation site, the hostess did not mention it, and there was no signage in the restaurant. This could have easily mitigated the issue of angry customers who felt rushed from their table. Also based on the length of time it took to receive our prix fixe courses, 90 minutes was no where long enough to enjoy the meal. It also was difficult to fully enjoy my meal when there is a crowd of people standing over you shivering. The patio heaters might have well been non existent as they failed to provide an adequate amount of heat and many were obviously low on gas. The food was excellent as always, but I expected a better flow of service on a night that was expected to have so many customers.
While I cannot speak to what a “normal” experience at Prime and Provisions is like, my New Year’s Eve dining experience was disappointing. First of all, I specifically chose this restaurant after doing extensive research about the best outdoor rooftop views in Chicago and, based on my reservation, was under the impression that’s where we would be seated for a nice NYE dinner. Instead, we were in a tent on the sidewalk. I had also called the restaurant prior to our reservation to ask if the regular menu would be available on NYE or if we only had access to the prix-fixe menu. I was assured we would still have access to the full menu, which I needed because of allergies (and price). Once we arrived, we were informed that the only option was the prix-fixe menu, so we ended up spending much more money than anticipated for more courses of food than we wanted, and for not even the food that we wanted. I will say that our server was very nice and understanding and allowed us to substitute the second course with a side, but overall this was incredibly disappointing. The thick maple bacon was great; most of the rest of the food was good but definitely not worth the price; and the chocolate caramel cake and the steak (at a fancy steakhouse?!) were dry.
Bread wasn't fresh even though we were told to wait on it coming out of oven. Seemed like it was made day before staleish. Appetizer came even before drinks came , this to me is a big no no. Bread came after app also bizzare. Our second app took 45 mins to come. I didn't know who our waiter was at first no proper introdcution. The wine that I wanted they were out of. Wait what? On nye? Really? I wanted to enjoy food thought the steak is better elsewhere , this was not as fresh as I was hoping it would be. Overpriced dinner for sure paid about 100-150 more than what it was worth. Won't be back . Disappointment don't waste ur time go to somewhere that has better service and better food. My second time.here....wont be back again.
For a 2020 New Year’s evening it was a nice dinner. Glad that they are open.
The food was pretty good, but we spent $360 for the two of us with no alcohol. It was way overpriced for a fixed price menu.
We had a terrible dining experience at Prime and Provisions. Outdoor seating area was cold and not adequately set up for such an expensive dinner. Service was slow and not at the level of dinning experiences at competitive restaurants at this dining dollar level. Steak portion was embarrassingly small with only two choices on the menu without having much more. The value of the meal was the worst I have ever experienced and the service and ambience was poor at best not to mention the cold Celebrating NYE and my birthday was a very disappointing all around experience at Prime and Provisions We have no plans to ever go back
We sat in the tent which was kept pretty warm by several heaters although the openings to the tent allowed the cold air to come through. Thought ahead and brought a blanket which helped. The food was amazing and the service the same. My first time dining there and would go again
I loved Prime & Provisions! The food was great and the menu options were amazing! Loved the oysters and the crab cake and the drinks were delicious too! We celebrated my friend’s b’day and just made a reservation for NYE! Good spot! Oh, wanted to add that I felt very comfortable even though outside was freezing, it was warm on the patio!
Great restaurant, and top notch service. The food was excellent!
Great time!
Customer service was great. Celebrated a birthday and the birthday girl was extremely happy. Nice outdoor setup and warm on a cold night.
Great food! Good people, always consistent food. I would recommend.
My family loved it here!!! Amazing atmosphere, food, and service!
Dining experience during the pandemic has been very limited for me, even more so now that it’s winter in Chicago and food service must be outdoors. I went for dinner with my uncle on Christmas Eve. Despite it only being 10° outside, it was still a great experience. Plenty of heat lamps to keep you warm, I do recommend thicker socks as the lamps don’t quite keep the lower half of you warm.
We ordered the crab cake for course 1. Absolutely delicious with a great amount of crab in the cake.
For course 3, we ordered the prime rib and the New York strip, both medium rare. Both were absolutely delicious, tender, and excellently prepared. The prime rib portion was very generous.
For sides we did the Brussels sprouts and whipped potatoes. Both great sizes to share and of course very tasty.
I was 15 min late for my reservation. They still let us dine a party of 12.
First time and it was very nice, given COVID restrictions
There are a lot of steak houses in Chicago. We selected Prime and Provisions because we have always enjoyed their happy hour bar bites. Made reservations online for BFF bday dinner. Called and requested particular table. All set. Received a confirmation call the day before and reminded them of my table preference, no problem they said. Only to arrive and the host abruptly told me that table was reserved large parties. (we were a group of 4,with reservations) Even though staff had confirmed twice it would not be an issue. I took more offense from the dismissive attitude from the host than the restaurant over promising and under delivering.
The patio is warm and inviting while still being safe. We really enjoyed cocktails and wine, delicious oysters, soup and steak. Everything was prepared perfectly. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. I'm excited to go back.
We had the pleasure of being served by Nathaniel who was just wonderful —friendly, efficient knowledgeable of menu, & special attention to details ! When we come back we hope to have him serve us again ...he added to our dining experience !
Had Birthday Dinner for my husband. It was amazing. Nice outdoor.
Everything was great! Food was delicious! Service was impeccable. I had a great birthday dinner. Will definitely return.
Everything was perfect great first time experience for my son
