After waiting for pur prebooked table for more than 30 mins, we were met by chaotic, unfriendly staff, serving solid but unsurprising and partially even uneadible (technically that is - the fried chicken) food at unparalleled prices.
The place certainly looks nice but is overly packed and so noisy that even on small tables, conversation is virtually impossible.
The only notable exception to our experience: the amazing sommelier and the truly outstanding wine list.
There were five of us, celebrating two birthdays at this higher end steak house. The prices are about the same as other top of the line steakhouses, which we expected. We were seated promptly, always a good start. The appetizers we had were good the tuna tartare and the crab cake were both tasty, particularly the tuna. There were also two salads, both of which were good. The meat was done to our requests, and a couple of us had to bring portions home, with our eyes being bigger than out appetites. If, for instance, you order the prime rib, be very, very hungry. One of us had scallops, which she finished with alacrity. We only had two desserts - chocolate cake, and a banana cream pie. Both were delicious. The service was very good, we neither had to wait a long time between courses nor were we rushed at all. The ambient noise was a little loud. but we were in a booth on the back wall, which mitigated the noise enough that we were able to talk across the table without yelling. It would have been louder in the middle of the restaurant. It was our second time here, and there will likely be a third time.
Expensive but VERY good. $400 for 2 people but everything was top notch. If you are looking to celebrate or seal a deal this is the place to go.
Overall great dining experience. The food and drinks were excellent and the service was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Prime & Provisions.
We had a nice time celebrating my girlfriends birthday. The food was great, came quickly and was very good.
Once again P&P delivers the goods! With top notch service and top shelf noms it's not hard to understand why we think this is one of the best restaurants in the city nor why we'll keep coming back again and again.
Great food and customer service. Definitely worth money!!!
Rueben was our server and he was so nice, we had small children with us and he was so accommodating with them as well. Will be coming back.
We very much enjoyed everything
Food was excellent and our server CICI was awesome
My fiancee and I went there for a nice Thanksgiving dinner. The pics on the website show a romantic experience. That was what I was expecting because that is what they showed. We were seated in what appeared to be a banquet area which was extremely brightly lit, exceedingly loud, and the tables were super close together. The food was average at best. The buffet was messy to look at. Both times when I went to the buffet to get food, I had to wait for a plate. It was an absolute awful experience apart from our server who was trying her best to make sure everyone had a drink.
It should be noted also that I sent an email to the restaurant afterwards telling them what I described above to see if they could offer some sort of compensation. It was $80 a person for a $30 buffet. So, I thought maybe they would do something or at least respond with an apology. I imagine they have been inundated with complaints and have not responded which is why I am writing this review.
I would not recommend Prime and Provisions restaurant.
Thanksgiving buffet was extensive and delicious! Had all the traditional thanksgiving dishes, plus special vegetables and pies were outstanding!
Ambiance was terrible. We reserved our Thanksgiving table fiver months in advance, but got stuck in an overflows conference room rather than the actual restaurant; Literally, a projector was on the ceiling above our table. Add to that the fact that this was not inexpensive and this ads up to an Incredibly disappointing Thanksgiving. Be careful with this one.
There is much to like here. The food was very good with a few minor exceptions (runny "mashed" potatoes and tasteless green beans). The raw bar and dessert tables were fabulous. I picked this place in part because it served whole turkeys (not just turkey breasts) and my husband likes dark meat. However, when he asked for dark meat, he got a big slab of white meat (I don't think the carver spoke English).
The servers were all working hard, but had to be reminded to replenish items. There was a lovely string trio AND rock music in the background, but when I noted it, our waitress said that was her error--she was supposed to be watching and turning off the piped in music when the trio played. Very pricey. My husband thought the whole thing detracted from the idea of Thanksgiving, but I, as the usual designated cook, thought it was just fine and I enjoyed watching the other family gatherings on their big day out.
Was disappointed we were seated for a booked Thanksgiving dinner at another area outside The restaurant that looked like a banquet hall...not the actual restaurant..missed the restaurant ambiance. Service was good. Food was ample.
Amazing Thanksgiving service!
We went to Prime & Provisions for Thanksgiving as we were in Chicago for vacation over the Thanksgiving holiday. They had a buffet that was AMAZING. It had all of the traditional Thanksgiving foods, along with a plethora of desserts that was sure to please any guest. Everything I tasted was delicious and perfectly seasoned. All of the meat was served in huge portions. The fried chicken was something that I would not normally want during Thanksgiving, but was absolutely tantalizing. We will definitely be back when we visit Chicago again.
It was incredible from start to finish!
CC was the Best! Gave us great recommendations for food and our business!
First day of marriage brunch. Great selection, great service, good value for what it is.
The food was very good but at times we felt like we were forgotten. Also the table next to us was extremely loud with lots of foul language. I don’t think we should have to say anything about the language and raucous behavior. The restaurant should have picked up on it. Would we go back? Probably but we would need to consider how freaking loud it was. You just don’t see that type of behavior or loudness at Fleming’s.
Unreal dinner, one of the best I've ever had. Go here every time I visit Chicago
In addition to the location, the interior ambience provides a very ambient demenaor. Alas, that is the only niceties that are encompassed in the restaurant. The troubling news is that there was a 30 mins delayed on our reservation. Follow this up with a waitress who was never available to us upon request. The nerve of her to state her disappointment on us not ordering dessert due to her lack of availability is astounding.
Food was decent, except... a few of our entrees. Half hour table ordered ribeye. Not sure how it’s possible to mess up three dry aged ribeyes, but that it was surprising to see at a steakhouse.
Due to the complains above, I cannot recommend this restaurant as a Chicagoan. The most spectacular event we witnessed was the single busboy carrying all of our plates out in a single sweep. He’s the real deal and deserves the tips.
Great ambient; great food; great wine. Loved the entire vibe. My steak was slightly over done, but the situation was rectified immediately - followed by wonderful complimentary desserts from the general manager. Will definitely come back when we are in town again.
Thank you for making this an amazing experience. Food was delicious!!!
Food and service were pretty good! Nothing spectacular, but we still enjoyed our time! Very energetic environment.
Best steak house in Chicago!!!!!!
Every thing is perfect!
Food, service & ambiance!
Everything was exceptional !! From the service to the food. Best dining experience I’ve had in a long time!!
The service was very good, with exception that I felt pressured to order stray medium well instead of well. It was too rare and I couldn’t eat most of it.
The service was spectacular. They were very attentive and the waitress was beyond spectacular. I would highly recommend
CiCi the waitress made our night! Unbelievably welcoming and attentive. We have been enjoying family occasions with you guys for years and today was no different, as always, exceptional!!!!!
I came here for dinner with 3 friends, 2 of which were visiting from California. All of our dishes were absolutely delicious and the server was very helpful and attentive about my friend's dietary restrictions (gluten-free, no cow dairy, etc). We got a great recommendation for a bottle of wine from the sommelier that we really enjoyed and fit within our desired price range and tastes. Service here is top notch.
It was real nice. The Kobe steak was a unique experience. It was too fatty tasting for my liking.
We split a main course but still $33 with tip
Food was delicious
Waitress seemed to disappear for long stretches
Service was excellent. Not a spot for a quick lunch, but this was not due to lack of attention. Food was delicious. Must try the bacon appetizer.
AMAZING! Food was cooked to perfection! The waiter Amanda was amazing. We enjoyed our birthday and veterans day celebration.
I eat at Mastro’s fairly often and this time the steak was more of a medium well than medium.
We loved the food quality! Service was amazing. It was quite loud, but we appreciated being in a booth which may have helped. We will definitely recommend this place to everyone!
