Steakhouse
Prime & Provisions celebrates the simplicity of true steakhouse cuisine and prides itself on its' mission: to source the absolute best domestic beef available in the United States. Prime & Provisions' is the only steakhouse in Chicago to serve USDA Prime Creekstone Farms 100% All Natural Black Angus Beef, humanely raised, with no hormones or antibiotics.

While the menu reconnects with traditional steakhouse roots, the decor highlights the vintage opulence of 222 North LaSalle's "Crown Building" and creates a social experience that connects the modern-day patron with the sophistication and glamor of the era in which the building was first constructed.

Prime & Provisions also offers a variety of private and semi-private dining spaces, including Prime Private, one of the largest and most intimate private dining rooms in Chicago.

We were celebrating our anniversary, and since we were taking the kids with us, we decided to try their Sunday Brunch. Food was great! We were really impressed with the quality and variety. Prime rib was delicious, salmon was great, and my kids loved their made to order Mac & Cheese and Belgian waffles!! Also the Ferris wheel of desserts was yummy. However, what really stood out to us was the service. Our waiter, Stephan was really good and very attentive, and the guys at the service stations were fantastic! I would definitely recommend this place, and their Sunday brunch as a good option with or without kids!

We had an exceptional brunch served by Stephan. The bakery goods were some of the best we’ve had made in house. There was such a great selection that we will have to go back again to try it all.

I went there earlier this afternoon to celebrate a birthday brunch with the parents and can't remember the service being any better, anywhere. Our server was Stephen and his game was on point. My mom went for the bottomless mimosas and he'd notice her running low before I would. Boom, refill, and so forth. They also did me the kind favor of serving something off the menu, some Kobe beer strip steak not service till dinner time. The brunch buffet, oh man, I'm gonna back just for that!! Home waffles, mash potatoes, French toast. Their deserts will do the signing off and put you to sleep they're so good.

Prices high, even for a steak place, and portions not as represented on the menu. But most important, we told the waiter about some very specific food allergies and my daughter did not realize until having eaten much of her meal that it was not made to order resulting in 48 hours of severe suffering as a result. Although too late to help her, we told the waiter of the problem and he said, "Oh, sorry." We will not be returning.

My husband said the cowboy ribeye was the best he’s ever had!!! We split the delicious wedge salad. Almost wish I had my own! I had the Chilean sea bass w/risotto. It was good but would not get again. The brussel sprouts had delicious back n pieces in it. Wish they were crispy though. We also had a maple bread pudding dessert that my husband loved!! Great service!!

Chicago has a lot of great steakhouses- this is not one. Filet was undercooked- ordered med rare, came out rare-then returned (same on) overcooked. Staff paid for it- but would’ve happily paid to have a proper steak to eat at same time as my husband. Also- both filets cut from broken side of tenderloin- the flabby side. As for a pro- the oysters were nice and selection better than your basic blue points.

Started with old fashions and sparking water. Nice!!

Great steaks! Everyone loved their choices - filet, filet with horseradish crust, porterhouse for two. I also really liked the steak seasoning salt they bring to the table.

For appetizers we shared the beet salad and Brussels sprout salad. Both great and from one guy who really likes beets he loved the beet salad. We also had the mushrooms, broccoli, mashed potatoes and onion rings...we couldn’t keep everything healthy! Onion rings were amazing. All sides were just as good.

I’ve been here a could of times. I would definitely return.

We skipped dessert as we were full so no comment there.

“Energetic” is a kind characterization of the noise level at this restaurant.
The food was excellent, but for a multi course meal this pricey, it would be nice to be able to carry on a conversation.

Prime and Provisions is an excellent fine dining choice in downtown Chicago. The service was impeccable (waiter Michael Dempsey was a first class professional): knowledgeable, friendly, and professional, everything you want in a service experience. The food was outstanding; my companion had the petite filet and loved it, and my bone-in prime rib was great, although it was also huge! The sides were also well prepared, and the presentation top-notch. The only slight drawback was the noise of the dining room. It has a high ceiling and the conversation travels, so if you are looking for intimacy this might not be the place. Great location near the river, though! I highly recommend it.

Our server Brandee was very good. She and her team were attentive but not bothersome. Never had to ask for water refill. The food was excellent. Like every good steakhouse the filet’s was perfect but the sides were what made it a great meal. The caramel brulee is a must!

My fiancé and I had a reservation here while we were celebrating our anniversary and New Year’s Eve in Chicago. Our waitress, Allison, was very attentive despite the business of the restaurant. Our meals and sides were amazing. I got the special filet and my fiancé got a rib eye. Both were excellent and so were the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Another manager had come by a couple times and around the restaurant to check in with other diners. We have already recommended the restaurant to friends in the area and would come back again next time we’re in town.

Food was excellent, but the service was very slow. We had to flag down wait staff numerous times to get water refills, cocktails, dessert, etc.

In addition, they put two round tables of two together to make a table for our party of four. We made reservations at least a week in advance so this was very disappointing.

We went NYE for an early dinner. The staff was dressed impeccably and were were seated promptly. The staff was very attentive but not overbearing.

The food was delicious, but some was a little pricey for the taste. Specifically, the bone in steak was $72 but it really didn’t have the flavor we were expecting for an entre at that price point. Additionally, the sea bass was delicious, but the accompaniment wasn’t as flavorful. The Brussels sprouts were delicious. The best part was the large pieces of bacon. Very good. The chopped salad and French onion were both wonderful. Very well prepared and we really enjoyed both.

Lastly, the bartenders made wonderful cocktails. We had a few drinks but most noteably was the old fashion. It was a proper old fashion. We also had a specialty cocktail and wine with dinner. The wine and the specialty drink were very good and they did not overdue the alcohol - which typically ruins the taste of the other flavors.
