Prime & Provisions is the kind of steakhouse that fits a few different needs. Steaks are good, plus a few wildcard dishes elevate things to the next step.
Best steakhouse in Chicago
I don’t recommend this steakhouse. Select an establishment with a little passion for their product and you’ll have a better experience.
We both ordered the $59 NY Strips medium rare. My wife’s steak was rare and most of mine was medium. Disappointed the steaks were botched, but strange one was over cooked with the other under cooked. The beef quality was reasonable and the sear was very good. Steaks are served under seasoned with garlic lavender butter on the side. If you don’t enjoy the lavender butter, you are forced to deal with an underseasoned steak.
They offered to re-fire the steaks, we declined and requested seasoning to flavor the remainder of our steaks. We don’t see a reason to return.
We really enjoyed our Saturday dinner. The menu is excellent top to bottom. Our Service was excellent. We have already made our plans to return.
The whole experience was fantastic. Besides the great steaks our server, David was great. For our first time he was very help and professional.
Everything was above expectations
Excellent! Service was outstanding. Food was outstanding
The birthday girl very much enjoyed the food and service there.
It's the best steakhouse in Chicago and it's the best service.
Hamburger was over cooked. They replaced it. Manager was kind enough to offer to comp desert but not communicated to server and I was charged for desert.
Given price point, they need to make a burger correctly.
Wonderful dinner as expected and the staff was great in assisting me with proposing to my now fiancé!
We enjoyed our dinner and service was very good.
Our waiter Michael was incredible. All the suggestions were absolute perfection. We drank great wine, had amazing food, and thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening!!
Great atmosphere and great steaks. Quiet night for a large trade show in town.
Delicious! When I am back in Chicago, I will be going to take clients to this restaurant again.
The food was very good. We loved the crab cake. We waited 25 minutes past our reservation time, so we were given an appetizer as a way to make up for the wait. The manager came by our table to offer his apology. Very much appreciated! Our waiter, David was excellent! His knowledge of the menu was extensive. My only negative comment about our dining experience was how loud the restaurant was. We could not speak across the table without raising our voices so it was very difficult to visit. Tables near us also had raised voices above a normal conversation level. Other than the noise level of the restaurant, it was a nice evening.
We went for my wife's birthday. We had a bottle of wine at home that we have been saving for a special occasion, and P&P was great about the corkage fee. The food was very good, we weren't very happy with the Tuna Tartar, but the Steak's and Lobster tail were great, and the S'mores dessert was a great cap of the evening.
One of the best dining experiences ever. Known for Old Fashioneds, the cocktail did not disappoint. Delicious, fresh food and great ambiance.
Great food and service.
Great food and great service, will definitely be going back.
Everything was great!! delicious food and service fantastic!
The bone-in rib eye and lamb chops were really good and cooked to perfection! I will definitely be returning!!!
Consistently Excellent. Top notch food, ambiance, service. Food is wonderful, service is outstanding. Smart for clients and colleagues alike. Cigar smoking area in a covered outside lounge. Interesting options for everyone.
Our third time here, and it seems to have gone down hill compared to the previous times. Way too many upscale restaurants in Chicago to tolerate mediocre food and service.
Experience was good, would recommend. We were there for a birthday celebration. Had this noted in Open Table reso & also personally spoke with front desk before sitting down about this as well & it was never addressed (dessert, etc). Also, wine list is so-so, we spend almost $500 on wine and nothing was fabulous, didn't get very good recommendations at all for the $$. Food is good though.
The food was amazing and the service was spectacular. Will definitely go back next time in Chicago!
Sent my parents here for their 39th wedding anniversary and they had such a wonderful time, they're still talking about how good it was!
Best spot in Chicago for a steak that will blow your socks off! Great for birthdays where you can order a porterhouse the size of Chicago to split between your whole party. The steak comes out sizzling with an entire head of roasted garlic to smear all over the juicy steak, if you wish!
Great server. Great food.
Great meal great service
I had the cod ( Provisional fish) which was awesome as were the oysters and spinach; my wife enjoyed the lobster bisque but was disappointed in steak salad ( steak great, salad not so much, kin d of wilty and yellow)); overall good...waitress fantastic
Excellent spot for a quality business meal.
This was our first time dining at this restaurant and I can honestly say it was absolutely delicious. My mother and I had the bone in ribeye and my sister had the sea bass. The garlic whipped potatoes and bacon brussel sprouts were tasty. To top things off, we enjoyed the carmel chocolate cake. It was sooo delicious. We had Nathaniel as our server and he is the best. Our overall experience was phenomenal and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I was a little disappointed after eating at GT Prime, it was very loud, and the smell of garlic was overwhelming. I don't believe we will return.
Firstly, I was expecting one of the best dining experiences for a steak in Chicago. I had researched RPM, Swift & Son’s, Maple and Ash and several others and this was always at the top of every list for steakhouses. I was immediately enjoying my experience with the politeness and promptness of the hostess. We arrived early to have a drink at the bar and those did not disappoint. Our bartender was friendly and made amazing recommendations and ultimately our drinks. Upon being seated though, is where this dining experience took a dive. We waited nearly 10 minutes for our waitress to arrive and she lacked personality. She was not engaged with us and offered a level of service I can get at my local Applebee’s. We listened to the specials and explanations and made our deduction to try the Maple Bacon appetizer. My expectations rose once again as this ended up being the best dish of the night, but I did not know this until later. I ordered the 45 day dry aged Ribeye and was expecting it to melt in my mouth. Instead it was dry and lacking flavor. I ultimately decided that my $70 steak was like something I can order at any Outback and pay 20 bucks for. I paired this with an average wedge salad and what ended up as the second best dish, the whipped crusted Parmesan cheese potatoes. Needless to say, we did not venture to the dessert menu. Overall I felt that my nearly $260 dinner and drinks adventure would have been better served blowing at the race track.
Food was great and the service was outstanding
My girlfriend and I went for her birthday dinner and we had a great time. Staff was super nice and on top of their game and the food was delicious too. Pricey, but worth it!
Highly recommended! The staff was very attentive, and the food was amazing. Even though the prices may seem high, the entire experience was worth every penny.
