Prime & Provisions Steakhouse
While the menu reconnects with traditional steakhouse roots, the decor highlights the vintage opulence of 222 North LaSalle's "Crown Building" and creates a social experience that connects the modern-day patron with the sophistication and glamor of the era in which the building was first constructed.
Prime & Provisions also offers a variety of private and semi-private dining spaces, including Prime Private, one of the largest and most intimate private dining rooms in Chicago.

What Insiders Are Saying
Prime & Provisions is the kind of steakhouse that fits a few different needs. Steaks are good, plus a few wildcard dishes elevate things to the next step.
The food was ok, but nothing extraordinary for the price. My 6 oz petite filet had at least 1 oz of gristle which was disappointing. We were there for a business meal and they started clearing the plates of those who had finished before the rest of the party was done, making us feel majorly rushed seeing as it was a Tuesday night
Overpriced, overcharred and lacking flavor.
We were celebrating our anniversary, and since we were taking the kids with us, we decided to try their Sunday Brunch. Food was great! We were really impressed with the quality and variety. Prime rib was delicious, salmon was great, and my kids loved their made to order Mac & Cheese and Belgian waffles!! Also the Ferris wheel of desserts was yummy. However, what really stood out to us was the service. Our waiter, Stephan was really good and very attentive, and the guys at the service stations were fantastic! I would definitely recommend this place, and their Sunday brunch as a good option with or without kids!
Wesley is everything. Will request him every time we go back.
We had an exceptional brunch served by Stephan. The bakery goods were some of the best we’ve had made in house. There was such a great selection that we will have to go back again to try it all.
I went there earlier this afternoon to celebrate a birthday brunch with the parents and can't remember the service being any better, anywhere. Our server was Stephen and his game was on point. My mom went for the bottomless mimosas and he'd notice her running low before I would. Boom, refill, and so forth. They also did me the kind favor of serving something off the menu, some Kobe beer strip steak not service till dinner time. The brunch buffet, oh man, I'm gonna back just for that!! Home waffles, mash potatoes, French toast. Their deserts will do the signing off and put you to sleep they're so good.
Prices high, even for a steak place, and portions not as represented on the menu. But most important, we told the waiter about some very specific food allergies and my daughter did not realize until having eaten much of her meal that it was not made to order resulting in 48 hours of severe suffering as a result. Although too late to help her, we told the waiter of the problem and he said, "Oh, sorry." We will not be returning.
My husband said the cowboy ribeye was the best he’s ever had!!! We split the delicious wedge salad. Almost wish I had my own! I had the Chilean sea bass w/risotto. It was good but would not get again. The brussel sprouts had delicious back n pieces in it. Wish they were crispy though. We also had a maple bread pudding dessert that my husband loved!! Great service!!
Chicago has a lot of great steakhouses- this is not one. Filet was undercooked- ordered med rare, came out rare-then returned (same on) overcooked. Staff paid for it- but would’ve happily paid to have a proper steak to eat at same time as my husband. Also- both filets cut from broken side of tenderloin- the flabby side. As for a pro- the oysters were nice and selection better than your basic blue points.
Absolutely amazing! The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable.
Amazing food, great service and awesome ambience.
Started with old fashions and sparking water. Nice!!
Great steaks! Everyone loved their choices - filet, filet with horseradish crust, porterhouse for two. I also really liked the steak seasoning salt they bring to the table.
For appetizers we shared the beet salad and Brussels sprout salad. Both great and from one guy who really likes beets he loved the beet salad. We also had the mushrooms, broccoli, mashed potatoes and onion rings...we couldn’t keep everything healthy! Onion rings were amazing. All sides were just as good.
I’ve been here a could of times. I would definitely return.
We skipped dessert as we were full so no comment there.
Great experience! Thank you for the amazing birthday dessert, a real treat!
Me and a group of my friends had a great time talking and laughing until the restaurant closed!
Sat the bar both bar tenders were courteous and fun.
Sat down in s nice circular booth ! My usual server was not available. Had a wonderful young lady who was just perfect.
Had the Bacon spritzer = to die for
Had the tomato salad = perfect
We had a Bone in filet &a petit filet = fabulous
Bottle of Santorini = Great
( no desert this time )
So to die for; perfect; and fabulous = the perfect night
Ad the knowledgeable wine steward, wonderful service, and a great attitude from all host, hostess etc. and you have one of if not the BEST restaurant/ steakhouse in Chicago!!!!!!
Thank you to the management & staff
Went for my birthday dinner. Loved the experience from start to finish. CICI was an amazing server! She was friendly, attentive, and informative.
Received the steak for two, very dry and not very flavorful.
It was a great experience bd terrific food
Our server was great but that can’t mke up for the food, that make me very sick within an hour of eating.
Pick another restaurant
Requested a table and they couldn’t accommodate. Had to wait for 15 minutes even though I had a reservation. The food was great!
Beautiful brunch set up, excellent service and delicious food
Service and food were great, guests were rude, my friend and I had an unpleasure experience in the rest room. But other than that we had a great night.
“Energetic” is a kind characterization of the noise level at this restaurant.
The food was excellent, but for a multi course meal this pricey, it would be nice to be able to carry on a conversation.
Fantastic food and service. Came before a show at Cadillac theater. Would absolutely recommend!
More casual than expected however service was great.
Prime and Provisions is an excellent fine dining choice in downtown Chicago. The service was impeccable (waiter Michael Dempsey was a first class professional): knowledgeable, friendly, and professional, everything you want in a service experience. The food was outstanding; my companion had the petite filet and loved it, and my bone-in prime rib was great, although it was also huge! The sides were also well prepared, and the presentation top-notch. The only slight drawback was the noise of the dining room. It has a high ceiling and the conversation travels, so if you are looking for intimacy this might not be the place. Great location near the river, though! I highly recommend it.
Wonderful in every way that makes dining out special!
Our server Brandee was very good. She and her team were attentive but not bothersome. Never had to ask for water refill. The food was excellent. Like every good steakhouse the filet’s was perfect but the sides were what made it a great meal. The caramel brulee is a must!
As always, a wonderful experience. Fried Chicken for the table was fun and memorable, and you can never go wrong with the Bone in Filet. Service was impeccable!
Delicious food. Little slow because we had to get back to office by 2
My fiance and i went for NYE and the food just wasnt that great. We got a ribeye for two and flavor was just ok. we ordered it medium and it was more rare and did not really have a good flavor. it was just ok. Ruth chris was better in my opinion.
All food was as expected
Excellent knowledgeable and caring service, extremely delicious appetizers, best king crab legs ever!
I was not impressed by prime and provisions. Even though we were there on New Year’s eve service was very slow. The steaks were Overpriced, and my Kansas City strip was extremely tough.Overall all the food is overpriced. The lobster asparagus appetizer was on point though
NYE Dinner, was great they had DJ, festive decor, and party hats and champagne overall great experience.
Very Overrated, extremely loud, limited menu options. Food ok!
We frequent here and its always fantastic. Top 3 in chicago. Thank you!
Service and ambiance was very lackluster and our waiter seemed to not want to be there. Appetizers, drinks, and side were very very good, but the main course left a lot of be desired - especially for a 65 dollar steak.
Outstanding in every way!! The food is always excellent, the service is perfect and the space is very nice. It is always a nice evening when it includes Prime and Provisions.
We went for New Year's Eve. Dinner was excellent. We had three courses, never felt rushed and had wonderful service. It was as expected very busy that evening, so a little cramped. The outdoor cigar lounge is a nice feature. Will definitely return.
