Prime & Provisions Steakhouse
While the menu reconnects with traditional steakhouse roots, the decor highlights the vintage opulence of 222 North LaSalle's "Crown Building" and creates a social experience that connects the modern-day patron with the sophistication and glamor of the era in which the building was first constructed.
Prime & Provisions also offers a variety of private and semi-private dining spaces, including Prime Private, one of the largest and most intimate private dining rooms in Chicago.

What Insiders Are Saying
Prime & Provisions is the kind of steakhouse that fits a few different needs. Steaks are good, plus a few wildcard dishes elevate things to the next step.
We have been here a few times. Good value on salads. Waiter asked us about brunch
What an amazing place!! A great wine list and lots of help picking the right bottles out for the table without blowing the budget. The food was amazing and the staff is all engaging so they make it a blast!!
Took a long time to get order in. Think they forgot about us. But after we got that sorted out it was all good.
Let's start with the positive - lovely ambiance, great appetizers, great sides, great desserts. However, the waiter touted the restaurant as having the best steaks in Chicago. They were tasteless & did not meet our NY standards.
Worth every penny. Great Chicago Steakhouse. Amazing drinks, steaks, fish, and dessert wasn’t bad either. Will be back.
Priovisional entree Halibut was delicious as was the Sea Bass. Bone in Rib eye was disappointing as it had quite a bit of fat on it for $72.
My husband and I make it a priority to visit Prime & Provisions every time we are in town. We’ve visited many steakhouses in Chicago and this one is by far our favorite. We always start with the shellfish tower which is so delicious and has the biggest shrimp I’ve ever seen. The steaks are amazing, especially the bone-in ribeye. This time we also tried the French onion soup and we both agreed it was the best we’ve ever had. On top of how fantastic the food is, the service is impeccable. Can’t wait until our next visit!
There are a lot of steak options in Chicago and this is not a top one. The steak was food but everything else was meh. French Onion soup was burned and spilled, twice baked potato was not good. Service was distracted.
My goal is to try as many of the high end Chicago steakhouses that I possibly can. With that I’ve been anticipating trying Prime and Provisions for quite sometime. Well with all the anticipation came much disappointment when I finally got there. The ambiance and service are very nice. Our server Andrea was great except she forgot to box our side dishes after our dinner! This was extra disappointing because the sides (substantial baked potato and Brussels sprouts) were the best part of the meal!
The biggest disappointment was the steak. We ordered the porterhouse for two cooked medium. I will say it was cooked more on the medium rare side but worst of all the quality of the cut of meat was not impressive. There were three occasions while eating that my bite of steak contained inedible fat and tendons to the point I had to spit it out. If that happens with a $120 steak something is terribly wrong! On top of that there wasn’t much flavor to the steak either.
We politely finished our meal and didn’t raise any complaints. Left with out to go package which consisted of two sandwiches they made out of our leftover steak, given to us without a bag my date had to place them in her purse smh! We were told these steak sandwiches would be awesome! Noooo.... tough left over steak with an aoili sauce between two pieces of white bread.
So overall I’ve probably been to about ten high end Chicago steakhouses so far and as of now Prime and Provisions rates #10 out of 10.
Our server was excellent but the food was just ok. Nothing to write home about. I expected more for the price of our meals. I unfortunately would not return. I wasn’t wowed by the food. The service was excellent.
Visiting Chicago for the weekend and it was our first stop after landing. Service was wonderful, food was great. Steaks were delicious but we have had better in other cities. All and all it was terrific. Thank you!
We had been seated next to a group of men who had had too much to drink and were very loud. I asked the waiter to help the situation and the staff was great. Had an excellent time. Will return.
Nice steak house. The Soups: French onion and Gaspacho crab were very good.
The 36 ones T-bone steak was outstanding. The glass of Napa cab, was fine.
The best steakhouse in Chicago hands down. Wide variety of appetizers, salads, soups and sides to satisfy anyone's tastes.
Amazing! Great ambiance, service, meal, and dessert!
P & P does not disappoint. I assure you every course is better than the last. Food is amazing and the service is also excellent-very professional. My Niece had a birthday she will never forget.
We enjoyed the Sunday brunch. It was fantastic. Carving station, fresh seafood, fantastic Mac and cheese and other sides as well as traditional breakfast fare. The bacon was awesome as was the dessert station. Highly recommend!
Best brunch we have had in years. Great experience. Highly recommend.
Humberto was an excellent server for brunch and the food was outstanding! Definitely coming back and can’t wait to try dinner as well.
Amazing . I really enjoyed the sweet potato dish and my sea bass.
Highest prices for small portions. 9:00 Saturday night about 8 tables full. They won’t be here long!
The food was phenomenal. The service took it our visit to the next level.
My fiancé had a shoe break on her and the waitress was quick to help us turn the night around.
Long story short, enjoyed everything here and can’t wait to go back.
Top notch steak house, very chic and great ambiance. Food and service was nothing short of spectacular
Excellent Service and Food!
The Filter on the second bite had a tendon in it. Not what I expected. Also steak was alittle tough ordered it medium rare usually good steaks you can cut with your fork. Not the case.
Great experience and attentive service.
Ordered the prime rib, which we were told was 32-35 ounces and enough for two people. We decided to split one between two people. The piece that came out had no cap and was definitely not 32-35 oz. when it was divided in two I would say we ended up with about 8 oz of meat per person. Outrageous for $72.
This is a classy downtown Chicago Steakhouse with amazing ambiance and a great location. The food and service is top notch and the bar is also great to eat at if you want. I’ve been several times.
I thought the overall expectation was met but at the bottom of the scale. The ambiance was fine however our server was overly assuming in his approach and less than accommodating. He didn’t go out of his way to be gracious in taking care of our needs and wants which brought the overall experience down. I will look elsewhere for my next Chicago business dinner.
Disappointed - used to be incredible food and service. This last visit has sunk this restaurant to a run of the mill steak place in Chicago.
Many better choices out there - keep looking.
I love going there for lunch ,they offer a very varied menu that is not overwhelming. The service is great, the food comes out fast and delicious. You can go for a long lunch but also for a short one. I have not tried the brunch buffet yet but am looking forward to it.
Actually my wife and her friend went I got the leftovers. But they said the food was excellent and the service was outstanding.
I have never been but will be going now!
We had brunch on Sunday and it was outstanding, Prime Rib was so tender and juicy, and desserts station is a must! Staff is super friendly, Waiter and Chef knowledgeable (Guy with a thicker accent) made us feel at home. We will be back!
Service and quality were both phenomenal! I highly recommend the bacon appetizer and the chocolate peanut butter pie dessert. Our steaks were also incredible. This place has it goin on!
Our server CC(Andrea) was fantastic as was all the wait staff. Very attentive and professional. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the recommended sides were wonderfully proportioned. We will definitely return on our next trip to Chi town.
Great service our server was awesome and just was icing in the cake of great good.
Awesome great place
Server Andrea was SUPERB! I did not like having to go up two flights of stairs to get to the restroom.
Rubin Is awesome
Brandi is the absolute best server in the game. P&P is just hands down one of the top steak houses in Chicago/America. Seafood tower crushes all others in town. Steaks were perfect.
