Prime: An American Kitchen & Bar, Huntington, NY Ratings and Reviews
Prime has a really big reputation on Long Island and I’ve been there several times before and it lived up to those expectations. However, this trip it really was not worth it at all, I’ve had better steak and fish at plenty of other restaurants with better ambiance’s and better values. Won’t be returning.
This restaurant has a great atmosphere, a wide selection of food and wonderful drinks. I took a friend for his birthday and the night flew bu. The seafood tower was tremendous, shrimp, lobsters, oysters, crab, and clams was a meal in itself. A great time was had by all.
We just got married and this was our first dinner out since. The service was fantastic. We were greeted with congratulations by the hostesses and waiter, Joseph Throughout the evening, he kept us happy and entertained throughout the entire dinner. He brought us various wines and stories to go along with each bottle. His knowledge of wine was incredible! He really did an awesome job making us feel very special. at the end of the meal, we had dessert that was topped with a “happy anniversary” chocolate cake topper. It was just an awesome experience !
Service was great and for the most part the food was very good except for the porterhouse for 2. It was a little more cooked than we requested and the skillet which it was served in should have been hot and it wasn’t. It was good but we’ve had better at other places. However over all it was a nice dinner.
Had a FANTASTIC birthday wine dinner during Prime's 11 year Anniversary Celebration week. The special prix fixe menu had delicious selections making it hard to choose! Each course was paired with a wine and an education as to why that particular wine was chosen based on our tastes. The wine representatives were outgoing and extremely knowledgeable. One of the lovely ladies even shared pictures of her last trip to the vineyards. Our server, Joe, was outstanding. He observed some of our wine choices and made several of his own suggestions which were outstanding! We especially enjoyed playing along with him with guess that wine, very clever and fun. The food was delicious, perfectly prepared and served in a relaxed atmosphere . A delightful evening, can't wait for Prime's 12 year Anniversary Celebration!!
Extremely expensive and not necessarily backed by amazing tastes. Extremely salty! They have a new chef (as per our server) but not much different from the previous one. We go for the views and the food but I usually end up disappointed because it was so expensive and not so delicious. My meal came out wrong (their fault). By the time they prepared it again we finished eating. It was a special and very expensive. I wasn't offered any compensation even though they saw they were wrapping the whole dish to take home. On the other hand, they did give us a $25 birthday gift certificate.
Nicer in summer months.
Food was okay there was salt on everything!! The bread had salt on top baked in, the salad had pieces of salt tossed with the dressing, but, the steaks crust had little to no salt where it was supposed to be. Steak was over done but service made up for the food. It was cold where we sat and had to have the outdoor heaters turned on. We will not be returning.
Although I have been to many of the neighboring Steak / Sushi restaurants in the area, Prime is the one I continue to go to for their Chicken dish (I know, it's a steak house). Their Chicken dish is great and the Red Roof Roll is a winner. Most restaurants make a Chicken dish thats chicken breast. It's rare to find one with their is also some dark chicken. This is my go to, and its always great. This place is always busy so make a reservation especially during holiday time. Great ambiance, great food, great service. I prefer eating inside during the warner months, as the outside is definitely a different experience entirely, but its always good outside for a drink or two.
It was a nice restaurant but even though we had a reservation, we had to wait a while for our table. Our waiter was very kind and the food was great. But the location of the restaurant is what shocked me. I was surprised it was in a not so clean industrial area where you wouldn’t think there was a fine dining restaurant. In addition we were celebrating a birthday but the refused to sing cause they said it would make noise but that shocked me because the place was already noisy and we felt kind of disrespected because they knew that it was someone’s birthday. They did nothing to accommodate for the birthday even though they knew about it. But overall the restaurant was ok.
Second time there. Party of 5. Food overall was very good. Has the Porterhouse for two. Excellent quality and it was cooked perfectly. However, whipped potatos served with it, were not hot, and very average. Wife had the 2lb lobster, no complaints. Two others had sushi, though both thought it was very good, they thought it was also overpriced. Service was excellent, absolutely no complaints. They also comped us a dessert as it was someones birthday. Class gesture and greatly appreciated. My only real personal complaint, which I experienced last time as well, was the pour on the alcohol. I asked for a bourbon neat with ice on the side. Barely covered the bottom of the glass. For what they charged for it, a little more generous pour would have been in order. Really. Other than that, great restaurant.
beautiful scenery - very well designed - I often dine at the Prime in Stamford Ct but my first time in the Prime in Huntington - Went there for Sunday Brunch - Ambiance, surroundings, service top of the line - 10+
A bit underwhelmed at the brunch menu - my pancakes over done & dry- bacon over cooked
one of my brunch guests had the shrimp brunch platter - came with a ton of lettuce and only 3 shrimp ! - really ? However my oyster appetizer were to die for ! amazing !
My previous experience at the Stamford Ct Prime locations always been for dinner and the meals have been top rate - I am certain the dinners in the Prime Huntington are equally as amazing
Would def come again for lunch or dinner but probably stay away from the Brunch Menu
Still very upbeat on this place
I was excited to take my son to Prime to celebrate his birthday after having gone there last summer with my wife where we had the most awesome dining and service experience. However, on this occasion, while the food was awesome, the service was less than desirable. Specifically the service or lack thereof received from our server. He was inattentive, impersonable, curt and exasperated in his esponses and demeanor to our questions. He lacked knowledge of the menu and offered no suggestions when asked about the wine menu. Not once did he come by during our meal to ensure that we didn't need anything and that everything was okay. I was honestly very disappointed as it was not what I expected and left me wondering if I should come back or recommend Prime to others.
My husband and I love steak houses but never got the chance to try Prime. I was pleasantly surprised my the grand entrance and beautiful decor as we walked in. It was a Wednesday night so we ordered the price fix which was duck. I’m not a duck person but it was delicious!! The best part of the night was the service from Joe. He made u feel that u came here for years, he was very knowledgeable about the menu and what wines pair nicely with food. We really had a great time trying different foods with the different pairings and got an education too!! Thanks Joe!!
We were very impressed with Prime. The decor is gorgeous...modern and fresh and it has a great energy but didn't seem too loud. The service was terrific - friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The waiter made some great appetizer recommendations. The food was delicious. All of it. Between everyone, we had the shrimp & lobster wontons, gnocchi, shrimp cocktail, filet, strip steak, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and sweet potato fries which came with the most delicious maple sauce.
I can't wait to go back in the summer to check out the outdoor dining area right on the water.
First time here. We had reservations and arrived a few minutes early. We were shown to our table right on time. Our server, Matthew M informed us of all the specials that were available then took our drink order. The drinks came to the table very quickly.Started with the soup of the day, pumpkin. It was very hearty and delicious as well. I had a NY Strip and my wife had the Filet Mignon. Both were cooked to our request. We ordered the mac and cheese and asparagus as sides. The mac and cheese was very creamy and cheesy. The asparagus, although cooked correctly, could have been a bit softer as that's the way we like it. I'm sure if we'd asked, it would have been taken care of. That's the impression I had of this place. All you have to do is ask. Matthew was a very attentive server. Unfortunately I cannot write about the dessert because we had to pass. The dinner was very filling. Next time we go (and there will be a next time) we'll skip the appetizer and go for the dessert. Their menu look very appealing.
