Prime 47 - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
We came here last year for a business dinner and it was fantastic....absolute superb service and food. We came back this year with a different group of people and left disappointed. The food was wonderful, but the service lacked. There was no discussion of the menu by our server...other tables were shown plates of steaks and we were not. Our server simply came to the table and asked what we wanted. For the price, service expectations are high and our server seemed bothered to be waiting on our table. There are several steak houses located in this area, and unfortunately we will be going somewhere else next year.
Prime 47 offers a wide menu that provides diners a delightful variety of scrumptious dishes. The generous side dishes are perfect for sharing. The servers are prompt, knowledgable and unobtrusive. Pairing fantastic meals with a fantastic wine list and cocktail selection, Prime 47 is a perfect, high-end dining experience.
Excellent meal for my family tonight. The entres sides, appetizers, dessert and drinks were all excellent. We had a tough time finding a steakhouse that had reservations available this week because of the Big Ten championship but we were able to snare their last available after 6 and we were not disappointed. Excellent from the beginning to the end. We will return.
We celebrated our 20th anniversary here and it was by far the best dinner celebration that we've had in the past several years trying all of the other downtown steakhouses. We loved the attention that we was given on this special day. The noise level was a tad high as a group of businessmen were seated next to us on a non busy night so wished we could have had been seated in a quieter area but other than that, it was awesome food and service!
We have been to this location before and like before the food was great (only exception was the lobster bisque was really just tomato bisque this time - neither person who ordered it at our table thought it was good and threw most away). However, the service was terrible really terrible. Our server was seemingly ticked off the entire time we were there, kept walking away from us even when our party of 7 was ordering and did this over and over again, not attentive in the least, we had to ask for more drinks, but some in our party never got a second beverage, did not receive at all one of the items we ordered at all and not only did not get an apology but also was charged for the item, requested bread 5 times and never got that in the 1.5 hours we were there. And when we asked to speak to the manager she apologized, but really nothing else.
We loved the ambience. Live piano player was delightful. Open architecture, so we felt like part of the restaurant but not imposed upon. It was easy to converse.
Wait staff was professional, competent, friendly, not stuffy.
The menu needs some help. The food we got was delicious, although our dry aged NY Strip had a bit more gristle than we would have liked. There is a lack of fresh, healthy options. I enjoyed the special - striped bass and it's accompaniments, although heavy on the salt - which I like. Many of the vegetables have either cheese or bacon added. No problem if you are dreaming of lobster mac and cheese, or twice-baked potatoes.
We will come again - it was so enjoyable, and give the menu another shot.
Food was okay and the staff was very nice. I had the TJ’s Tomahawk that was waygu beef but wasn’t as good as several other USDA Prime steaks I’ve had. At the cost of $119 I expected it to be better, not worse. Started off rough with broken glass on the table but they swapped the cloth out promptly, no big deal. Then came new glasses and utensils but two of three glasses had little dead flies in them. Waiter apologized and brought new but a rough start to an expensive dinner. Very, very loud in there when we visited. Our sever duo had a few bigger tables from what I could tell and we were pretty neglected as a table of three as a result.
Your downtown location could learn quite a bit from your Carmel location. I have been to both. Downtown had large dirty windows that the early evening sun could barely shine through. We were rushed through our dinner and each course was squeezed onto the table while we were eating the prior course. Waiter was pouring more wine into our glasses when we had barely taken a sip of the first pour so needles to say our wine never got any air. In Carmel, the staff seemed to care much more, they were composed and not rushed, they were politely inquisitive with good suggestions and recommendations. When they asked how it was going, it was with sincere interest. I would not return to spend $300 on a rush job with dirty windows while trying to impress a key business partner.
